New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 302: SHE HADN’T DECIDED YET!
Aristia looked up from the sheet Heidi and Penelope were showing her and turned around suddenly, her eyes landing on a squirrel coming in through the window.
This squirrel had light grey skin, and its large fluffy tail had a streak of silver. Its underbelly had a silverblue undertone.
But its most striking feature was its eyes.
Its eyes were a striking purple, sparkling like jewels.
The squirrel was absolutely adorable, but its eyes were sharp. But for some reason, this combination didn’t look odd.
At this moment, the squirrel was heading toward Aristia.
But upon seeing the squirrel, neither Heidi and Penelope reacted, their eyes only showing slight surprise.
They had already gotten used to seeing this animal beside the third princess and even knew what it was.
"Millie," Aristia called with a small smile.
’I’m back. I’ve delivered your message, Aristia. Vivian seems to be coming to see you now.’ Millie said.
Aristia’s brows shot up in surprise and bewilderment. ’She is? Has she already decided? Well, that was fast.’
Millie shook her head, ’Countess Quentin pushed her to. She said she’s your friend so she can visit you without invitation.’ She said with slight amusement.
Aristia rolled her eyes. She should have known Countess Quentin would be the one to push Vivian into coming. Vivian wouldn’t suddenly visit her out of her own initiative.
And visit without invitation?
Millie didn’t stay any longer and left the room.
Heidi and Penelope’s gazes remained on Millie as she left. Even now, they still couldn’t shake off the sense of awe.
They had heard Millie speak once to Kai.
Seeing a magical animal like Millie was still new to them. Millie was the first daemon they had seen anyway.
Aristia turned back to the two girls who were waiting for her.
"So, do you think it needs anything else to make it better?" Heidi asked, referring to the sheet of paper.
Aristia glanced at the drawing of the blender that had been polished.
She shook her head. "It’s perfect as it is."
"So we can get to the production?" Penelope stated with excitement, but it came off as a question.
Aristia nodded and turned around, but remembering something, she turned back to them.
"I heard from Butler Henry that you’ll meet the tutors tomorrow."
Heidi and Penelope exchanged glances, then Heidi hesitantly said.
"But... won’t it interfere with our inventions?" She asked with worry.
"You need those classes. You’re now part of nobility. I need your inventions, but I won’t prevent you from getting the proper education you need. Plus, you can’t read. You need to learn to read. It’s important. It’s not all about knowing how to draw."
It wouldn’t be proper to allow the girls remain illiterate.
Heidi and Jacqueline had made a proper decision concerning the two girls. They had that right as parents of underage children, regardless of whether the said children hadn’t been under their care for years.
Hearing her answer, the girls sighed.
"But you’ll have free time," Aristia said. "Your classes don’t hold every day of the week. You have a few days off. You can use that time to invent. There’s also the evenings after your classes. Just like now. My classes are done and I’m free for the rest of the day."
The girls finally nodded.
"But you’ll have to leave time for studying and completing assignments." Aristia said.
[Hmm... the girls are ten. That’s the entrance age for females attending the academy.]
But Heidi and Penelope couldn’t enroll in the academy. They couldn’t even read words other than their names yet.
They would have to take the classes from beginning. Now that she thought of it, their workload would probably be higher because of their age.
Since they would take classes five year olds take and they are five years older than the classes, the tutors might speed up the classes so that they will be able to meet up with the syllabus for their age.
As for the academy... she wasn’t sure how they would handle it yet, but the academy could make considerations seeing as the children’s education had been delayed because of an accident.
The girls didn’t know what Aristia was thinking about.
Just then, Penelope thought of something and her eyes lit up.
"Princess Aristia, can we also have those types of clothes you have? The shirt and trousers?"
Heidi nodded quickly upon hearing this.
Since they began living in the Grand Duke’s mansion, they had seen Aristia dress up for her training to the captain.
They had been stunned at first, not to even talk of how surprised they were to see her train, but they wouldn’t deny that the clothes looked really good on the princess.
Aristia nodded, "Sure. You can ask your mother to give instructions to Madam Grace along with the dresses she’s making for you both."
The girls’ eyes lit up with excitement and joy.
"Okay!" They ran off to tell Jacqueline, leaving only Aristia in Heidi’s room.
Aristia turned, leisurely leaving the room.
She remembered that Vivian was coming.
’Oh, Millie. Please ask someone to inform the guards at the gate to let Vivian Quentin in when she arrives.’
’Okay, princess.’ Millie replied.
"Now, time to go meet Vivian." Aristia muttered.
But first, she had to get the servants to make something for her guest.
Meanwhile, away from the mansion.
Vivian sat calmly in the carriage, but when she thought of something, she shook her head lightly.
"Mother wanted Annie to come with me?" The thought of it was faintly amusing to her.
Her mother wanted her sister to come with her.
Vivian was aware that left to her family, they would have had Annie be the one who was close to Aristia.
Not that she was close to the princess anyway.
Suddenly, she thought of something else and her thoughts raced.
Wait!
Princess Aristia had asked her to see her once she had made a decision, but her mother had forced her to meet her.
What would she say to Aristia? She hadn’t yet decided!
Suddenly, the carriage stopped.
Vivian turned to the window. The carriage was in front of the gate of the Grand Duke’s mansion.
Vivian looked at the guard, thinking that the guard would definitely not let her in without an invitation.
But to her surprise, the gate opened without further questioning.
She watched as the carriage was allowed to enter the place, her mind recalling what her mother had said about the princess’s friends being able to visit the princess without invitation.
The carriage moved and finally stopped at a distance in front of the mansion’s entrance.
Vivian got down from the carriage, standing in front of the building.
Adeline was standing outside to receive her.
Vivian recognized her as the maid that had followed Aristia to the Quentin Fief to visit her.
"Miss Quentin," she said with a slight bow. "Please follow me."
Vivian nodded and followed her, the two heading inside the mansion.
Adeline led her to Aristia’s room.
Knock. Knock.
"Princess, your guest has arrived."
Vivian looked up at her in surprise when she heard that.
Was Aristia expecting her?
"Come in," they heard Aristia give permission, though the voice sounded a bit distant like she wasn’t close by.
Adeline opened the door and bowed toward Vivian, silently asking her to go in.
Vivian turned from the maid to the now open door, raised her foot and stepped into the room.
It was her first time in Aristia’s room.
A bedroom was a private place. It was not a place to receive guests, and not just anyone was allowed in. But Aristia had asked to meet her there. Did Aristia really see her as her close friend?
She looked around the room as she entered, noticing how the room took Aristia’s features.
The room exuded comfort and warmth and there were paintings and portraits hung on the walls.
Vivian stopped looking around and looked forward.
The balcony doors were open and a small breeze blew in.
Vivian made her way there a bit tentatively.
She saw Aristia sitting on one of the two chairs placed on the two ends of a table in the balcony.
Aristia turned to look at her.
"Princess Aristia," Vivian lowered her eyes and curtseyed.
"Vivian." Aristia smiled.
Vivian found it hard to look away. That smile was too stunning.
"Take a seat," Aristia said, pointing to the seat in front of her.
Vivian nodded and sat down.
The maid that had led her there served tea.
"Thanks Linny," Aristia nodded gratefully, surprising Vivian. She hadn’t expected Aristia to be so polite with her servants.
But after thinking a bit, it didn’t seem so surprising. She had come to find out that Aristia was different from she expected.
The maid Aristia had called Linny served the snacks. It was one of the snacks made in The Vanilla Courtyard.
"Eat," Aristia said, already picking one without reservations.
Vivian took one.
Just as she took a bite, Aristia looked at her.
