Necromancer Survival-Chapter 439
Chapter 439
Snap–!
After hearing that, Olim suddenly flicked her finger, and my portable table–on which the bowl of porridge sat–was swiftly cleared away. In its place, a large, opaque surface materialized, extending to the space in front of the other Servants.
The surface resembled a conference table and began to populate itself with lines and text, as if an invisible hand were sketching a diagram on its surface.
‘A Mindmap?'
Various names and titles–Lee Dojin, the Tragedy Collectors, Bae Jaemin, and Lim Jisoo–materialized on the map and were filed away calmly. This seemed to be a tool designed to outline our assets, the enemy's strengths, and the tasks ahead, so that all this information was easy to grasp at one glance.
‘I guess we're truly in a strategy meeting now.'
The map filled itself out seamlessly, but then it suddenly faltered at the last section, where an ambiguous label [Hmm….] appeared.
Olim, the controller of this skill, also had her brows deeply furrowed.
At the bottom of that unclear, uncertain block, one name stood out—
[Koo Hui-seo]
[Lackey]
[Kim Sangyoon]
[…Jo Chan-young]
The moment I saw the names, I immediately understood why such an ambiguous label had been attached to them. Classifying them as "assets" felt… lacking.
‘It must mean they’re not ready to be immediately deployed….’
Koo Hui-seo had a strong ability, but he couldn't control it well. Lackey was… well, frankly, he needed to grow more. As of now, the skeleton undoubtedly had insufficient power to handle Bae Jaemin or Lim Jisoo.
‘Sangyoon-ssi… While he did fight well against Bae Jaemin last time, he didn't last long.'
His sword [Berserker] seemed to hold some special power, but I couldn't easily say that power was part of Kim Sangyoon's usual repertoire.
And Jo Chan-young…
"*Whine*…"
"……."
A total mystery. Other than being absolutely adorable, he was probably the weakest link at the moment.
Then, Olim rubbed her chin thoughtfully before moving [Kim Sangyoon]'s name back under the [Combat Members] section.
I was a little surprised by the decision. Woo Ragi must have been surprised as well; his eyebrows raised up as he asked, "That pig's in the same category as me?"
His tone made it clear he found the idea insulting to his pride. Olim, though, didn’t look entirely convinced herself, but she calmly explained her reasoning. "I gave him a high score based on his potential. I think… I wonder if he's a ‘successor'." 𝑅𝐚𐌽ŏ𐌱̧
Woo Ragi was briefly startled but soon retorted sarcastically, "Are they letting any dog or cow be a successor these days?"
"It's faint, but Rho Aias reacted to him."
"He's probably a successor." Dawon sided with Olim.
Garam-ie shot up into a sitting position on the bed. "What?! Why does Kim Sangyoon have a successor's weapon? I want to kill him!"
"Even if Jung Garam-kun tries to grasp Berserker…isn't it such a large sword that the blade will be plastered to the ground?"
"Shut up!"
Bang Eunji teased him, but Garam's expression still held a hint of greed.
By that point, I couldn’t hold back my curiosity anymore. I wanted to avoid looking stupid, so I planned to ask Dawon in private later. But…
"Excuse me…"
Suddenly, all the servants shut their mouths and looked at me. I broke into a cold sweat, but I maintained my clumsy smile and tried my best to be shameless, "What are… successors? Ha…Haha…"
Silence settled in the hospital room momentarily.
Then, Choi Kyung-sik opened his mouth first, “How on earth did Choi Lee-kyung-ssi survive as a user before meeting us? Not even knowing something as fundamental as ‘Successor’—what kind of user… that kind of User could exist, sure…”
Choi Kyungsik started out rebuking my pathetic ignorance, but suddenly changed his words. Cold sweat ran in rivulets down his back. The other Servants looked a little surprised as well, but they all pretended to be busy.
After he slowly drew his gaze from the Red Lotus members, Dawon began to explain in a friendly manner, "Ignore what the kids say. Of course you naturally have different interests than we do."
"Nnngh…"
"A successor's weapon refers to an incredibly rare weapon that contains a sealed scenario with ‘partially lost content’ that even appraisal skills can’t detect. Since you can’t find it through normal means, it’s basically like winning the lottery.”
Then, Kim Olim fiddled with the straps on her shield, [Rho-Aias], and said, "Rho-Aias is also one of these special weapons… And, as a wield of one of these successor weapons, let me clarify Dawon's statement. Successor status isn’t determined by lottery. The weapon chooses a ‘qualified individual,’ tests them, and only grants its power if they pass the test. Even if someone other than the chosen successor discovers a Successor Weapon, they can’t claim it. If someone steals the weapon or kills the original wielder to use it, the weapon will simply revert to being useless scrap metal.”
"Ahh…" I marveled at this concept–far beyond what I could ever imagine. A weapon choosing its owner… It felt like heroic tales from myths. A legend…
‘Kim Olim, of course, would suit those kinds of stories, but…'
She was quite cool after all. But… Kim Sangyoon-ssi was also one of those Successors?
I knew this wasn't polite, but I couldn't help but tilt my head as I compared the two. Sangyoon-ssi was… Mmm, well… compared to Kim Olim, he was a little… plain.
Knock Knock–!
Then, all of a sudden, I heard a knock on the door. I looked around, trying to gauge everyone's expression, but the Servants looked blatantly towards me.
"Should we let him in? It's Kim Sangyoon." Dawon had even known who had approached us. He asked me, as if waiting for my permission.
"Is it okay for him to come in?"
"It's your hospital room."
"No, it's… Isn't this your strategy meeting?"
"What's wrong with that?"
I looked around, feeling slightly complicated; Olim flicked her finger again, and the holograph was wiped clean.
She spoke softly, but firmly, "You don't need to be wary, Choi Lee-kyung."
So, I nodded slightly.
The door opened by itself.
"Lee-kyung-nim, are you alright…? Ack!" When the door opened, Kim Sangyoon was bent at 90 degrees and greeted me nervously. When he noticed that the servants had filled the hospital room, he took a few startled steps back.
Even though I knew he could see the Servants now, ever since he received the necklace from Seo Dawon, his reaction still caught me off guard and made things feel a bit awkward.
"Come on in, Sangyoon-ssi. Thank you for coming all the way here."
"I… I didn't disturb you all, did I? Kim Sangyoon asked, sweat rolling down his skin.
"Haha…of course not!" I quickly replied.
But, everyone except me had a grim expression on their face, so the atmosphere became chilly.
Kim Sangyoon drooped a little but still handed over a square box wrapped in luxurious packaging. "Well, I… This is a recovery chocolate I ordered from Flavor13. I was hoping it could be of some help to you…"
"Ah, thank you."
However, just before Sangyoon-ssi could reach my hand, Dawon took away the chocolate first.
Both Sangyoon and I stared at Dawon in shock. Without a hint of hesitation, Dawon casually ripped apart the fancy packaging and scrutinized the dome-shaped chocolates inside as though they were disgusting trash.
I stared at him, stunned by the sheer rudeness of his action. "What the…"
"Lee-kyung-ie, your body is currently unbalanced. So, ingredients commonly used in ordinary chocolate aren't good for consumption."
It sounded convincing, but for some reason, it felt like Dawon was nitpicking Sangyoon's present childishly. However, Choi Kyung-sik nodded in agreement, backing him up. "That's right. There's a reason why I meticulously curate my ingredients when making potions."
Kim Olim's lips tightened into a firm line. "You need to be careful about what you eat. Anything other than specially prepared meals for patients could strain your stomach.”

"S…Still…"
"I see…" Kim Sangyoon rapidly crumpled with guilt and reproached himself. "I'm sorry… I thought it would help since it's sold by a company that specializes in potions, and the sales page described it as recovery chocolate that’s good for patients…"
"Well, being naturally gullible to marketing tactics isn’t something you can help… but it’s fine. Just make sure to consult me next time before you almost kill Lee-kyung, okay?"
"…I'm really sorry."
Dawon, with his sweet-sounding but cutting words, finally brought tears to the corners of Sangyoon’s eyes.
I tugged on Da-won’s arm, trying to stop him. "Enough already…"
