World 1 And so the world interchanges

The brown colored ground.

In the desert filled with sand dunes and bedrocks with no presence of any living organisms. A harsh land with only a few sighting of shrubs and grasses.

There lies a gun truck stopped. The truck layered in thick armoring attached with a machine gun looked monstrous.

"Two in the afternoon. Perfect timing."

A soldier then came down from the truck, Kai Sakuravent the 17 years old lad, took out his binoculars.

His hair and pair of eyes colored ultramarine, claded in the human defense military's armor. His body is well built from the daily training and his gaze holds a strong will.

"The observation of the 'graveyard' will now begin. Saki, Athrun you too."

Through the binoculars Kai held lies a weird building, a pure black pyramid.

A perfect triangular shaped building as if a secret institution. Its outer layer jet black inked paint contrasts with the brown wasteland.

"The situation…"

"At most nothing unusual I tell you."

The car's front passenger seat is a young lad holding onto a clipboard in his knees and speaking in a lazy manner, Athrun Hairol. A year older than Kai (18 y.o.), a tall lad, scout and also a colleague.

"There's nothing, right Kai?"

"70 seconds just passed. The observation time for the 'graveyard' is 300 seconds in all."

The target of Kai's observation is 200 meters tall, comparable to the height of current high buildings. He then observed it from up till down.

"I told you there's nothing. See, it's already 300 seconds right?"

"170 seconds."

"Argh, isn't that enough already. I'm carsick right now so let's wrap up quickly."

Athrun who marked the observation form with 'no abnormalities' and laid down lazily in the front passenger's seat, on the other hand Kai is still stuck to his binoculars.

"300 seconds."

"O,oh.. As usual what a stiff guy you are."

"Report. No abnormalities in the Ulza Union's graveyard. The demons are sealed up as usual."

"…Haa."

Sighing deeply, Athrun in the passenger seat then faced to the driver's seat.

"Oi Saki, you say something too. No abnormalities yesterday, today as well as tomorrow."

"Hm?" The orange haired girl named Saki then raised her body.

Chewing a gum and pressing towards the handle in a relaxed manner.

"Isn't that fine, since Kai is doing it seriously we get to laze around."

"There is a limit to that. Hundred years you know, hundred years. Was there ever a record since the other four species who were sealed escaped? Ey Kai?"

"None"

"Right?"

"To make sure that does not happen is our job as observers."

"….A sound logic, but isn't it too stiff?" Saki adding in another gum to chew.

"It's not fine that only we are doing this job seriously. In all, there is 4 graveyards right."

"Of course the other 3 are doing their jobs seriously."

As is stating the obvious, Kai then moved approaching the gun truck.

"This is an important mission. By any chance a demon escaped it will become a big deal."

There exist 4 jet black pyramids in the world. This building called the 'graveyard' is a prison where humans sealed up the defeated other 'four species'.

The strong magic wielding, Akuma (demon) race

Angels, elves and drawvens races wielding great force, Banshin (foreign deities) race.

Ghost and its kind, as well as those with special features, Seirei (spirit) race.

And last those who stand at the peak, dragons and enormous beasts, Genjuu (mythical beasts) race.

The four species exceeding human logic, and have since long been feared by humans.

But that all ended a hundred years ago, when the counterattack worked.

The five species, including humans waged the largest war in history, The Five Species Great War.

After the war, humans then sealed up the other four defeated species into these buildings called the 'graveyard'.

Hence, humans have till now consistently continued to manage these graveyards.

"Right, Kai, I almost forgot to tell you something important."

Saki in the driver's seat turned around.

"Next week is the party celebration for Jeanne's promotion, and so about her present…"

"We're on mission right now. Sorry but save that for later."

"…Wha? Even though there's nothing I tell you! Even now is fine~"

Saki voicing out her protest.

Beside her is Athrun in a daze.

This is the world's common consciousness. Or so to say, 'The world is peaceful'.

Since the four species are unable to escape.

Not only Saki and Athrun, but also those in the two year period military service are mostly convinced of the fact.

On the other hand, only someone like Kai would be the expection.

"Even if nothing is going to happen, I do not want to be lax. Half of it is just my own ego."

It's not that Saki or Athrun are lazy people. Rather, their protests are sound logic. Since the graveyard has been safe these past hundred years and suddenly a sound can be heard from within it, it crumbling tomorrow is normally impossible.

But Kai has a specific reason why he could not be lax regarding the seal of the graveyard.

"It's because I saw it."

Ten years ago, he fell inside the Akuma race's graveyard.

Inside that jet black pyramid are the akumas, or so is what Kai saw.

"Again with that? Me and Athrun have heard that story more than 20times or so."

"Definitely just your imagination, it's not possible that you can be fine after falling down to the graveyard. That's the nest of the Akumas you know?"

What Athrun said is true, even Kai thinks it's a miracle to be alive.

But truthfully he is alive even though his conscious faded after being attacked by several akumas, and without knowing, he waked up outside of the graveyard.

But there is no proof of his memories.

…The pressure from those Akumas.

….That is not possible to be from my imagination. It's definitely not a dream.

The fear he felt when faced with the Akumas. Even if people around him denies it, the possibility of that powerful race breaking through the seal is 'possible', or so Kai feels.

And so, they must be ready for the Akumas counterattack.

Hence why Kai trained vigorously more than anyone else this past 10 years. Being discrete during leisure, even doing image trainings during meals and baths. Even being known by his superiors to be 'training-crazed' is who Kai is.

"That time would mean that Kai is around 7 or 8 years old right. Meanwhile there is only one way in to the graveyard and it's impossible that the standing guard didn't witness you falling into it."

"Too add, it's equipped with security cameras. Kai, you are not in them right?"

And with no eye-witness to proof Kai's fall. To be specific, the adults all said 'they did not remember' it.

"That's why it's a dream… a dream. A nightmare during your younger days! Kai, did you already forget about that face our instructor made when you told that story?"

"No, I remember it."

"Right?" Yep yep, as Saki nodded.

"You must have remembered wrong, Kai."

"Leaving that matter aside, observing the graveyard is the mission. We can't possibly leave it."

"Wha…?!" Shouted Saki and Athrun.

"Let's contact HQ, the observation at two in the afternoon is complete. No abnormalities in the graveyard."

Without having a care of his two colleagues Kai turned over to see the graveyard and said so.
