Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!-Chapter 275: | | Defensive Front
*BOOM!!!*
An explosion deafening roared as dust and dirt were blown up into the skies. The ground shook as the pieces of what flew returned to the earth in a peculiar rain. What followed were the howls of machine guns firing hundreds upon hundreds of lead in mere seconds, whistling across the battlefront like the songs of death. It had begun... The Defensive Front!
"Take cover!" A Marine yelled while firing his assault rifle towards the advancing enemies equipped with muskets and cannons. Following his words were resounding explosions which threatened to break through their sophisticated trenches that had made up the first line of defense against the incoming armies of the Colonial Dominions.
The Forward Operating Base was outnumbered a hundred to one. For every single soldier were a hundred warriors of their adversaries marching forward in relentless madness. But the United Military wasn't to be underestimated. They wouldn't fall without devouring a quarter of the advancing bastards.
"Captain Cameron! We're being pushed back!" A Marine reported while pulling the trigger of a machine gun, firing at the marching bastards that seemed endless. They were mowed down with ease, but these madmen also shot back, using the bodies of their comrades as shields. It was no less than horrifying. There was no doubt. The Colonial Dominions planned to utilized human waves.
*BOOM!!!*
"Hold the line soldier! The first line of defense must not immediately fall!" Captain Cameron shouted back at the machine gunner and turned his attention towards communication operator. "What was the response about the acquisition of aerial reinforcements?" His words resounded, earning the furrowed eyebrows of the communication operator. "Bad, Sir. The response's bad."
"We don't have influence over the skies, Captain. The Magus ensured that any nearby aircrafts would be pummeled with dozens of magic missiles, which go after our strike aircrafts. The UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas is busy trying to plan a way to break through the aerial barricade." The communication operator reported.
"Damnit!" Captain Cameron slammed his knuckle into the table and realized that reinforcements from the air wouldn't come. The pressure in the first defense line was increasing by the moment. The numbers of the bastards were too insurmountable, and they don't even seem to feel fear when bombarded and shot at. "What about the remaining companies?" He questioned.
"The 52nd United Army Mechanized Company, and the 255th United Army Infantry Company is busy reinforcing the second line of defense, Sir. The following trenches are being fortified. They are planning to turtle, and ensure that the bastards don't break through the Forward Operating Base." The communication operator answered.
"I see... How much time do they need?" Captain Cameron asked, wanting to know how long they would have to defend the first defense line before retreating to the second defense line. The communication operator immediately replied to his question. "They need ten minutes, Sir. Ten minutes is all they need."
"Affirmative, then let us give them the ten minutes they require. Open comms to the entire company and let them know about the situation." Cameron calmly ordered, earning the nod of the communication operator. The news regarding the ten minutes were promptly transmitted throughout the Marine Company, earning a good morale boost for the defending men.
*BOOM!!!*
"Do not give up and mow them down!" He shouted while shooting at the marching bastards. They fell one after another, but the ones behind swiftly replaced them. Magus also used them as shields, firing one spells after another at the direction of the trench line. Fireballs, lightning bolts, ice spikes, and boulders impacted upon the first defense line, barely saving the Marines inside it.
The artillery and mortars continued bombarding the advancing armies of the Colonial Dominions, suppressing them with explosions and flames. Even the barriers of the Magus were barely able to defend against the never-ending bombardment, but mounting casualties were ineffective against the innumerable army of the United World Government's adversaries.
Minutes passed, and it was grueling. Sweat dripped from their bodies alongside the bullet casings piled below them. The smell of gunpowder seeped into their noses and their sharply rang from the gunshots that reverberated around the Marines. The bastards were mere hundred meters away from the first defense line, and the intensity of the Marines was not doubt sinking.
Fortunately, the long awaited ten minutes had finally come to passed. With the confirmation of the two companies in the second defense line, it was finally time for the Marines to retreat from the trench line. Without a tinge of hesitation and delay, Captain Cameron ordered the gradual retreat of the 101st United Marine Company.
One after another, Marines entered through tunnels leading to the second trench line, reinforced by the 52nd United Army Mechanized Company and the 255th United Army Infantry Company. Cameron was the last to retreat and promptly detonated the explosives scattered throughout the trench line, breaking it apart. After all, It would be troublesome of their enemies utilized it.
Captain Cameron reached the second defense line where his men immediately positioned themselves and took a short minute rest. As he walked inside the second trench line, Cameron saw Captain Stark discussing with another Captain regarding their strategies against the upcoming horde of madmen. He stepped forward, earning the applaud of Captain Stark.
"Captain Cameron, it was thanks to your Marines that the second defense line could be optimally reinforced in time." Stark remarked towards the Marine Captain and patted his back. The second defense line was filled to the brim with heavy machine gun placements alongside mortars pit. Dozens of IFVs, APCs, Humvees, and Military Trucks also riddled the second defense line.
It was much more heavily defended than the first trench line, which brought greater morale to the defending soldiers of the second defense line. Captain Cameron shook his head and responded. "I appreciate your thanks, Captain Stark. The Marines are merely following our duties. Though, the success of our operation, and even the probability of our survival remains in question."
"There's no doubt that you're right, Captain Cameron. Our helicopters are stranded. We tried having one fly into the skies, but it was immediately shot down and crashed into the Forward Operating Base. Fortunately, the pilots and the squad inside didn't get injured by a greater degree from the crash." Captain Stark wryly smiled while the Infantry Captain moved forward.
"I heard about air support being delayed because of the aerial barricade." His name was Captain Tom of the 255th United Army Infantry Company. Captain Cameron glanced at him and nodded in agreement. "The UNS Jaeger of the Blue Seas is trying to find a way to break through it. The homing missiles of those bastards are becoming too much of a problem."
"Homing missiles, huh? Those things don't make sense. But I guess magic in itself doesn't make sense." Captain Tom sighed to himself as fighting against magicians was never something he thought he would have to do in his career as a military soldier. But fate was a whore, and now, he was somewhere in the world, fighting against a maddened army.
"Sir, incoming!" A soldier shouted as dozens of wyverns descended from the skies. The Captains promptly reacted as they walked towards their respective command post. The soldiers within the second defense line utilized their trench network and laid waste to the wyverns who dared to make their landing. However, it wasn't without a price.
The first of casualties within the ranks of the Forward Operating Base had begun to emerged.
"These wyvern riders are utilizing invisibility spells to assault us from above. Luckily for us, their aren't extremely effective against our doctrine, saving us from severe casualties." Captain Stark remarked as he ordered his IFVs to take down the wyverns that had made their landings. The wyverns fell alongside their riders, bloodied on the ground, dead.
*BOOM!!!*
Another explosion resounded as the armies of the Colonial Dominions had pierced through what remained of the first defense line. The soldiers took their cover, hiding behind sandbags and began firing at the incoming lines of musketeers. The IFVs, APCs, and Humvees started firing their armaments, mowing the incoming human waves of madmen.
Captain Cameron observed the situation as his Marines continued to support the second defense line, further fortifying its defenses. However, the armies of the Colonial Dominions weren't to be underestimated. In mere seconds, the Magus inside the ranks of the armies conjured golems out of nothing. These golems were armored giants, capable of puncturing through any walls.
Cameron furrowed his eyebrows, his gaze turning towards Stark, who already ordered his IFVs to fire at the golems. Sadly, these gargantuan golems stood against the rain of lead and continued advancing without care. The armaments of the IFVs and APCs were ineffective. "Sh*t! Call the Armored Company!" Stark ordered his communication operator.

The Armored Company made up the last line of defenses which surrounded the perimeter of the Forward Operating Base. They were akin to settled bunkers, preparing to lay waste to the armies of the Colonial Dominions. However, the second defense line must not fall so early. The Abram Tanks in the rear needed to be utilize to ensure the survival of the second trench line.
The entrenched Abram Tanks roared as their tracks moved onward with their turrets pointed towards the direction of the advancing armies. The moment a golem was in their sights, they fired without mercy, blowing the golems apart. With the reinforcement of the Armored Company, the second defense line was far more secured than ever before.
Though, the defensive battle was far from over.
