Chapter 101: Chapter 101: An Extremely Powerful Evil Spirit, Seemingly on Par with the Black Pearl

At that moment,

A piercing shriek shattered the silence,

causing all the busy Martial Artists to stop what they were doing and look, horrified, toward the source of the sound.

The scream came from the Eighth Grade Martial Artist.

A stalk of White Bone Grass had buried itself deep into the palm of his hand. The intermingling of fresh blood and the grass’s faint glow was a bizarre sight.

The flesh around the wound began to rot rapidly, emitting a foul odor.

Even more shockingly, his palm was dissolving at an astonishing rate, consumed by some unseen force. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The Eighth Grade Martial Artist struggled, trying to use his Elemental Power to pull out the White Bone Grass, but his efforts were in vain.

The stalk of White Bone Grass seemed to have a life of its own, coiling tightly around his hand and fusing with his bones.

Fear and despair were written all over his face. His voice echoed through the canyon, sending a chill down the spines of the other Martial Artists.

The surrounding Martial Artists all backed away, not daring to get near the Eighth Grade Martial Artist, and certainly not daring to touch the seemingly harmless White Bone Grass.

The only sounds left in the canyon were the Eighth Grade Martial Artist’s agonizing screams and the rustling of the White Bone Grass swaying in the wind.

At that moment, an invisible terror enveloped the entire canyon.

After several failed attempts, the Eighth Grade Martial Artist turned pale with fright.

Several of his companions rushed over. One of them handed him a long knife and said, "Hurry up and cut off your hand! Otherwise, I’m afraid all the flesh on your body will be dissolved."

The Eighth Grade Martial Artist understood the consequences of letting it spread.

He took the knife, drew a deep breath, and swung it violently at his own arm, hoping to stop the corrosion.

But when the blade struck, it produced a crisp, metallic CLANG.

The sound his bones made was clearly not something human bones could produce.

In other words, after the White Bone Grass fused with his bones, his body had undergone a transformation.

Growing more desperate, the Eighth Grade Martial Artist frantically swung the knife, hacking at his arm again and again. It became a mangled mess of flesh and blood, his veins and meridians all severed.

Even through the immense pain, he still couldn’t stop the White Bone Grass’s corrosion.

Soon, all the flesh on his arm had sloughed off, falling to the ground where it seeped into the earth and slowly vanished.

It was as if something beneath the soil was digesting and absorbing the flesh that had fallen from the Eighth Grade Martial Artist. The entire scene was utterly bizarre.

Finally, the long knife snapped in two.

The Eighth Grade Martial Artist’s heart turned to ash. He collapsed to his knees,

powerlessly clutching the broken half of the knife, he spoke desolately to his companions, "My bank account is in my backpack.

If you consider me a brother, please take the bank card and account password to my family after I die."

This Eighth Grade Martial Artist had accepted reality. There was no escape.

His hand, now nothing but bone, had grown inseparably fused with the White Bone Grass.

His entire right arm was now as smooth as jade, without a single shred of flesh left on it.

After he finished speaking, the Eighth Grade Martial Artist knelt prostrate on the ground, leaving behind only a skeleton.

"Brother, don’t worry. I’ll make sure to get what you entrusted to me back home."

One of his companions took the bag from the skeleton’s back and wiped away a tear.

Suddenly, a faint tremor came from underfoot. Before the companion could react,

a sharp Bone Spike shot up from the ground, piercing straight through his body from below and bursting out from the crown of his head.

Red and white matter splattered into the air. The companion’s pupils dilated rapidly.

The hand holding the bag went limp, dropping it to the ground. He made a strange gurgling sound as bloody foam choked its way out of his mouth.

His body twitched a few more times, then he was completely dead.

Then, the same thing happened as before. His flesh peeled off and fell to the ground, and he was reduced to a skeleton.

Inside, his organs had already dissolved into a bloody slurry.

This situation was dire, and the way the soil was absorbing the remains was deeply unsettling.

There was a terrifying Evil Spirit lurking in this canyon, hidden so well that none of them had noticed.

And there was something wrong with this White Bone Grass; it was definitely not something that could be picked easily.

The many Martial Artists present were all battle-hardened veterans who often risked their necks to make a profit.

Thus, they were worldly and experienced. After this series of events, they finally understood.

Some of the more timid Martial Artists dropped their packs straight onto the ground.

They no longer dared to keep the White Bone Grass they had just picked. After all, compared to the profits from the grass, their own lives were far more precious.

If they lost their lives here, it wouldn’t matter how much White Bone Grass they picked or how much money they made.

"There really is something wrong with this canyon," Shang Yifei said, her expression grave.

Qu Chengping and Yu Qianqian also looked at Chu He with a mixture of shock and suspicion. ’How on earth did this guy figure it out?’

Yu Qianqian’s heart suddenly began to POUND. ’Could it be that Chu He isn’t just someone who happens to share the same name and a similar appearance as the number one expert on Blue Star from the Great Xia Empire?’

’Maybe Chu He wasn’t lying. Maybe his real name actually is Chu He.’

Yu Qianqian’s mind was a complete mess.

Uncle Dog also stared at Chu He in surprise. To think there was an Evil Spirit lurking in this canyon.

Even those with powerful auras hadn’t been able to sense it.

’So how did this young man, Chu He, notice it?’

’Could this guy really be the number one expert on Blue Star?’

"Mr. Chu, what’s down there?" Shang Yifei asked curiously.

"An Evil Spirit. An extremely powerful one. At first glance, it’s no weaker than the one on the Black Pearl.

However, the crisis on the Black Pearl was severe because it was carrying a ship full of Evil Spirits.

The sheer number of them was terrifying.

But the Evil Spirit beneath this canyon is a single entity.

Even so, a single entity is more than vicious enough."

Chu He said after a moment of contemplation.

Just a moment ago, he had felt a tremor from deep underground. It came from a slumbering Evil Spirit.

That Evil Spirit had now fully awakened.

...

「Fujiang City, Great Jing Empire.」

A car with the Lighthouse Empire’s emblem painted on its doors sped recklessly down the road, finally crashing into a shop before lurching to a stop.

The doors opened, and three or four staggering members of the Lighthouse Empire Guard stumbled out.

"What kind of driving was that?" one of the Lighthouse Empire Guard members chided, letting out a drunken burp, his face flushed red.

"I saw a miniskirt... with a great pair of legs," the driver of the Guard slurred, a lecherous grin on his face.

"Damn, what bad luck. How’d we end up running over an old lady? Looks like she’s dead.

Oh, and there’s someone on the hood, too.

A young girl. You killed her."

Another member of the Lighthouse Empire Guard leaned against the car door, patted his stomach, and laughed. "I wonder if she ever got a taste of a man. What a waste."
