Chapter 42 - Make You Regret

The cold, damp air of Orochimaru's lair was suffocating. The dim torchlight flickered, casting twisted shadows across the walls. Chains rattled as Teriyaki struggled, his wrists bound in cold iron. His breathing was heavy, ragged. The pain hadn't even begun, but he knew what was coming.

Orochimaru stood before him, a sick smile curling his lips. His golden snake-like eyes gleamed with amusement, with anticipation.

"Teriyaki... I want you to understand something." His voice slithered through the air, smooth yet venomous. "Right now, you are weak. Pathetic. Just another failure of the shinobi world. You betrayed me, the only person who cared about you. Now you must realize the consequences of your actions."

Teriyaki glared up at him, but his body was exhausted. He had tried escaping. Again and again. But Orochimaru was relentless in calling Kabuto to drag him back.

"You have two choices," Orochimaru continued, pacing slowly around him. "You can adapt. Or you can die."

He stopped, leaning in close, his breath hot against Teriyaki's ear.

"I am going to make you suffer." His voice was a whisper, yet it held undeniable power. "I am going to break you apart, piece by piece. I will carve away your weaknesses. If you survive... then, and only then, will you be worth something to me again."

Teriyaki gritted his teeth, but his body trembled involuntarily.

Orochimaru straightened and gestured to Kabuto, who stepped forward with surgical tools in hand.

"Now... let's begin."

Teriyaki's screams echoed through the chamber.

A scalpel glided across his scalp, peeling back layers of flesh and exposing the pulsing pink mass beneath. Orochimaru's hands were steady as he dug deep, removing pieces of Teriyaki's brain.

"You lack intelligence, clearly shown by the way you betrayed me and expected something good to come of your decision." Orochimaru mused, studying the gray matter between his fingers. "But don't worry. I'll fix that."

With delicate precision, he inserted something new—enhanced tissue, chakra-infused nerves, something unnatural.

The world blurred. Teriyaki's mind shattered and reformed, twisting in ways it never had before.

"Your arms are frail," Orochimaru muttered. A blade flashed. "Too child-like."

Agony.

Teriyaki's left arm hit the ground with a sickening thud, blood pooling around it.

He barely had time to process before Kabuto stitched a new one in its place.

Stronger. Bulkier. Not his own.

His right leg was next. Then his ribs. His bones were replaced, his flesh twisted and reshaped.

The chains rattled as Teriyaki convulsed. His body wasn't his anymore. His mind was slipping.

Memories blurred. What was he before this?

His hands trembled, no longer feeling like his own. His muscles twitched unnaturally. His breathing was erratic. His heartbeat wasn't even his.

Orochimaru's smile widened.

"Ah, yes. This is what I like to see. I must give your body a few months to adapt to the changes. Now I'll also enhance your curse mark, I'll make it mutate if you try to flood it with chakra, this way you can never escape or betray me. I'll also infuse your cells into it, so destroying it will mean you die."

Teriyaki wasn't sure if he was alive or dead.

But one thing was certain.

He wasn't 100% human anymore.

"Wh-what." The word came out trembling.

"Hmm?"

"What did you do to me?" Tears rolled out from Teriykai's eyes. He couldn't move his limbs. He couldn't feel his arms or legs.

"I'm perfecting you. Be gracious you are even alive. This is only the beginning. You are about to become everything you should've been in the first place."

Teriyaki's breath was heavy. His new limbs trembled, his body felt alien, yet the rage burning in his chest was all too familiar. He could feel the power coursing through him—power that Orochimaru had carved into him.

He looked down at his hands. They weren't his. His flesh had been changed, his bones replaced. He felt stronger, but at what cost? His mind was still his own... wasn't it?

Orochimaru stood before him, unbothered. Watching. Smiling.

"You've come far, Teriyaki," he said smoothly, arms folded. "But let's see if you've learned anything. I'm glad you've survived the process-."

Teriyaki lunged.

Faster than ever before. Stronger than ever before. His fist shot toward Orochimaru's face—

And stopped.

Teriyaki's entire body froze mid-motion. His muscles locked, refusing to obey him. His mind screamed, but his body refused to move.

"???"

Orochimaru chuckled. Low. Amused. Completely in control.

"Ah... I was wondering when you'd try something foolish." He took a step closer, looking at Teriyaki as if he were nothing more than a puppet.

Teriyaki gritted his teeth. His mind was fighting, pushing, commanding his arm to move. But he couldn't.

His own body was betraying him.

"You feel it, don't you?" Orochimaru whispered, circling him like a predator. "That paralyzing grip. That suffocating command."

He reached out, placing a cold hand on Teriyaki's shoulder.

"It's the curse mark. The one you seem to forget I placed on you."

Teriyaki's eyes widened.

Orochimaru smirked, his fingers digging into the mark on Teriyaki's neck. Pain exploded through his body, a sickening wave of fire and lightning crashing through his veins.

"You see, Teriyaki..." Orochimaru continued, his voice venomous, "I didn't just make you stronger. I made you mine."

Teriyaki gasped, his knees buckling.

His body wouldn't obey him anymore.

Only Orochimaru.

"Try to strike me again." Orochimaru stepped back, spreading his arms, inviting another attack.

Teriyaki tried. Tried with everything he had.

But his body refused. His own flesh and bones were no longer his to command.

"Now you understand," Orochimaru said, his golden eyes glinting. "You are nothing without my will. You can either serve me..."

His voice dropped lower.

"Or rot away, helpless in your own body."

Teriyaki's breath was shaky, his fists clenched, his rage boiling over.

But it didn't matter.

Orochimaru had won.

"Now Kabuto drop him into the pit we set up just for his return."

Kabuto dragged his body away, his body that refused to listen to him.

A pit of snakes rustling and hissing lay in the ground.

"I don't think you understood, just how cruel I can be." Orochimaru was smiling wider than ever. "I could've killed you, but I am still kind, so I am showing you my mercy."

Orochimaru licked Teriykai's hair and his arms covering them in a strange liquid.

"Delicious... The sweat of desperation. This will arouse the snakes."

Orochimaru laughed at Teriyaki's sodden state.

"Kabuto, show him what I mean by my mercy."

Kabuto threw Teriyaki into the snake pit.

"This will help him bond with his new body..."

The door shut, Teriyaki was thrown into the snake pit.

And all the light left his eyes.
