Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 57 - Fifty-Seven: Playing Matchmaking At Breakfast.
Suncity, Tomorrow Town.

Narika forcefully snapped her eyes open, she sat up with a startle on top of her bed with a gasp. Her hands moved swiftly to touch the spot on her neck where she was stabbed in her dream.
When she found no trace of anything atop of her neck, relief swept all over her form but that was short-lived when the event of what happened, in her dream came flashing through her face like a movie.
Red eyes.
The ancient knife.
Voices in her head that made her fall asleep, with just a touch of their palm to her head.
She was shivering. Not just any normal shiver from being exposed to cold weather. But that was her mind trying to comprehend what had happened to her last night.
With shaky hands that was still on her neck, she went to the bathroom and stood in front of her mirror. The girl In Front of her looked scared, and moreover tired of life.
There were dark circles under her eyes, that would not have been there in the first place if she had a normal life like everyone out there.
The most shocking aspect of the dream was her bleeding. It’s not a secret anymore after Zoe had left her secret out that she doesn’t bleed.
So in order to prove that it still stays that way, Narika pulled her drawer out and took out a razor blade. She was nervous about what she’s about to do. What if I bleed?
She thought.
But it was worth trying, than not trying at all. Afterall they all say that a dream is just a subconsciousness of one’s mind. So it’s either that she’s stressed up or that Adrik is up to no good.
Does he want to kill her?
Accusing her of murder wasn’t that much, but trying to kill her after proposing she marries him was so out of the question.
Meanwhile the red eyes that haunted her mind wasn’t Adrik’s, It was someone else. She’s sure of that. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
With nothing left to say, The young girl took a towel up to her lips and bit hard on it before bringing the razor down to her wrists. She grunted in pain from the intrusion but when she opened her eyes to see no blood flowing out of her arm. She dropped the razor and stumbled back against the door of her bathroom.
"Narika huni, it’s time for breakfast." She heard her mother calling from downstairs, she touched her heart to see that it wasn’t beating that loudly anymore.
It’s just a dream.
It’s nothing but a dream.
Well that’s what the young lady believed when she brushed her teeth, took her bath and made her way downstairs to see her father sitting at the dining table with a newspaper in his hand.
She smiled.
"Good morning dad," She said, moving over to peck his cheeks, as he dropped the papers down to look at her.
" How was your night sweetheart?" Mario asked, checking Narika from head to toe to finally stop at her face. She looked stressed out and he felt bad.
Would considering Marya’s option of moving away from here be the best option?
A new environment doesn’t sound bad.
He thought.
"Good," She said, sitting down across from him before her mom walked in carrying the last of what she prepared today.
"Hey honey," She called to Narika, who stretched her right hand out to her and she squeezed it in a lovely manner.
"You look good," Narika complimented her," She looked from her who was blushing, before moving over to her father." Are you guys going on a date?" She asked teasingly.
"Nah! I’m too old for that." Mario disagreed immediately. Making Narika snicker when she saw her mother’s face.
"Seriously huni, you aren’t in your forty yet." She reminded him, she needed that date and it’s not just because their dagger suggested it. They have been distant lately with what’s going on, and they needed a break. A vacation. Just the three of them.
"And I’m yet to see her boyfriend. When are you introducing one to us, little one?" Mario avoided Marya’s question. Rather he sent his daughter a curioused look, and that made Narika laugh for the first time in two weeks.
"Dad please, I’m just not ready for that conversation." She said, picking up her spoon ready to eat as her mother sat besides her father.
"Hendrix seemed like a nice guy if you ask me," Marya added, making Narika’s eyes shoot up at the two of them. They have had this conversation without her. It can’t be a coincidence that they were playing matchmaking already, between him and her father’s boss.
"Mom," she called, feeling embarrassed for having her private life being questioned as if they were having a round table discussion.
"So do you like him?" Mario was the one to ask this time, making Narika cover her face up.
"Seriously? Are you guys really desperate to marry me off or what? I’m just twenty one." She laughed, supporting her cheeks with her two hands while looking from her mother to her father.
If this was their way of taking her mind off her sorrowful life, then it was actually working because in a span of two minutes. She had laughed already and was still smiling when her dad tried pretending, that he wouldn’t love the idea of her being with Hendrix.
But unfortunately it’s not about who they want her to be with, it’s mainly about if Adrik wouldn’t be crazy enough to kill them just the way he did to Morgana, who wanted to separate her from him.
If there’s anything she had learned this past few days, then it had to be the fact that Adrik shows no mercy to anyone who pissed him off. No one!
So, she wouldn’t want her family to incur his wrath by pursuing the dream of her dating Hendrix, and besides she doesn’t actually see a life with him. Hendrix is her father’s boss, and she doesn’t want her father to lose that respect.
So it’s a big no!
"Can we eat now?" She asked her parents, who were whispering something to each other.
"Of course sweetheart, I have something to discuss with you later." Mario said with a smile, it was about what the mayor said. Marya had no problem with it and he knew she wouldn’t either.
Narika nodded with a smile on her face, it’s been so long she felt this way, and no matter how much she’s hurt. At the end of the day, she knew that the only people who would come through for her were her parents.
"I love you guys so much," she confessed, and watched her mother look up instantly at Mario. It was as if she sensed something was wrong but no one wanted to spoil the good mood.
"We love you too, Huni. No matter what happens." Marya said, her hand covered Narika’s other hand, Mario did the same thing too and before they knew it. They all bursted out into laughter because they knew how weird everyone was acting.
"Eat up pumpkin."
