Chapter 686: Chapter 279: Can’t Be Happy at All

Lando Manor.

Eldest Miss’s Villa.

Three heads huddled together, eyes wide and staring, the silence terrifying.

Firstly, all eyes focused on Chris, whose hair was put up in a style, her face slightly flushed, then she said, "Butler Philark designed it for me, I’m no longer a little girl, as the lady of the house, I must always be mindful of my conduct."

Veronica: Just a hairdo, I’ve been doing it since I was sixteen, haha, what does that prove?

Willy: You’re doomed, only old women put their hair up!

Next, the gaze shifted to Veronica, scanning her up and down for a while, pausing on the part of her that had changed the most - her chest.

Impressive growth.

Veronica’s face turned red, waving her hands to stop them from looking, it was just natural changes brought on by the Dragon Blood, nothing more.

With that, she glared fiercely at Willy.

Willy blinked, seeming to be the most unchanged among the three, the purest one.

She couldn’t handle this injustice, no way!

Willy raised her hand to caress her stomach, a maternal glow on her face, shining, she said, "I assume you’ve noticed, my boyfriend and I..."

Bang!

"Who let you use magic!"

Veronica pounced, pinning her down beneath her, snarling, "I’ll give you one more chance, say you don’t have a boyfriend."

"But I do."

"You don’t!"

"But I do."

A farce ensued, eventually quelled by Chris playing peacekeeper, and three of them resumed their intense staring.

Perhaps it was a matter of one-upmanship, or perhaps to infuriate their rivals, they each spoke of fiancés, boyfriends, beloveds and mistresses, aggrandizing their lovers to the greatest extent.

And, due to another reason, fiancé, boyfriend, and beloved all remained nameless, never revealing the true names.

That bastard really deserved to die! x3

Seeing good sisters who clearly wanted to monopolize, yet considered each other’s feelings for the sake of friendship, all three were grinding their teeth, and the topic gradually shifted from wonderful romances to complaining about their other halves.

Complaints about faithlessness, irresponsibility, and vanishing for days on end grew more heated, almost as if their significant others were one and the same person.

Indeed they were.

The conversation instantly died!

Veronica glared fiercely at Chris, hesitated for two seconds, then turned her glare to Willy, grumbling, "I know of such a person, who stole her friend’s fiancé, shameless, even when that friend was merely trying to help her. Instead of being grateful, she went on to break up their relationship."

"I know of such a person too, who knew who her friend liked and, behind her friend’s back, stole him away, no, right in front of her face, and had the audacity to insist she came first, so hateful!"

Willy, unwilling to be outdone and filled with grievances about this matter, sniffled, "Veronica, do you know who this person is?"

"No idea."

"What about you, senior, do you know?"

"Not sure, definitely not me."

Because of her provocation and disrupting the three-way balance of power, Willy found herself ganged up on and shut out by both Veronica and Chris.

She was greatly dissatisfied and openly revealed the name of her boyfriend: "I asked Wayne what would happen if the Death Curse turned me into a man instead of turning Veronica into one, how would things be different?"

Willy was very upset with Death, all because of that curse, she failed to secure her target first, giving Veronica and Chris an opening.

Besides, she was especially unhappy with Lundan’s Death Knights, thinking of discussing with Wayne some day about becoming a Sun Knight to help her regain her footing.

"There are no such things as ’what if’."

"Willy, there are no ifs in the world, but if there were, you’d just become a black cat."

Veronica and Chris refused to entertain Willy’s forced topic, yet they were curious about Wayne’s answer, giving her a tongue-lashing in unison and waiting for her to continue.

Willy raised her chin proudly: "Wayne said, no matter how the curse changes, the result would be the same, he wouldn’t let any one of us go."

So, what are you so proud about? x2

Veronica raised an eyebrow: "Why are you speaking for him, tell me, you traitor, are you his spy?"

"What’s wrong with speaking for my boyfriend?"

Wrong, one hundred percent, absolutely wrong! x2

Veronica moved swiftly, pinning Willy’s hands behind her and pushing her down onto the couch, while Chris asked what kind of deal Wayne had made with Willy to have her so willingly be a spy.

Willy refused to speak, but didn’t last long before confessing everything.

She mixed lies with truth, such as planning a ruse to have Wayne catch Veronica in an amorous trap, thereby winning him over, launching a two-pronged approach.

Veronica blushed fiercely, swearing to Chris not to listen to Willy’s nonsense; all the talk of longing and admiration was just a scheme of Willy’s.

Chris looked at Veronica amused, consoling her and skipping over the odd topic.

She started checking the ledgers.

Wayne had been busy with work recently, often absent; that raised the question—other than his time at Lando Manor and Wayne Manor, where was he?

A closer look at the accounts revealed significant discrepancies.

Chris frowned deeply, from her immature observations, her teacher Philomena seemed highly suspicious, emitting a vibe she dared not investigate further.

"There’s nothing to guess about this, I can vouch for it, he’s been dealing with something very very important recently, if he’s not here, he’s bound to be busy," Veronica interjected.

"What’s he busy with?" Willy leaned forward.

Training the Princess!

Veronica pursed her lips: "I said it was important, if you don’t know, it means he doesn’t want you to. Life is complicated; you’re better off just being a pretty face."
