Chapter 639: Chapter 265: You’ve Come at Just the Right Time_2

Regina had already returned to Prussia, yearning for her sister. Wayne gave her limited freedom to move around, and she would have to come back in a few days.

In the afternoon, Wayne returned home and instructed Butler Philark to pack his luggage simply. While busy, he noticed the Randao Family’s black sedan dropping off Chris.

Was it over just like that?

Wayne had thought this cold war would last a long time but didn’t expect the trio to collapse so quickly due to disagreements. He went to the door excitedly, nodding and bowing to welcome Chris inside.

Watching his shameless demeanor, Chris felt both amused and angry, but whenever she was furious, the image of Wayne shielding her from the Legendary Mage loomed before her eyes.

She couldn’t stay angry for more than three seconds, her resolve softening.

Verily was right. She had been toyed within the palm of his hand, and her life was probably over.

Chris sighed, eating the dinner that was supposed to nourish her body with a sullen demeanor. Because it was so delicious, she still seemed reluctant to put down her spoon at the end.

"Madam, would you like another serving?" Philark asked, bowing.

He called me madam!

Chris’s heart bloomed with joy. A butler indeed, his words always sounded pleasant, even the most mundane statement was a million times nicer coming from the Butler than from that despicable jerk.

Well done, keep talking, she loved hearing this!

Wayne silently gestured to Philark, who subtly shook his head. Now was not the time for exchanging glances; it wouldn’t be good if the madam saw them.

The butler lived up to being Philark, so professional. He must have frequently mediated between Austin and Hefei. With an expressionless face, he kept offering compliments, laying out the steps for the already hesitant Chris to gracefully descend.

She went straight into Wayne’s arms.

In the master bedroom, Chris bit onto Wayne’s shoulder, saying angrily, ""Veronica is unhappy, and so is Verily, and I feel bad, all because of you."

"You’re still upset? Weren’t you just fine a moment ago?"

"Jerk, who told you that."

Chris’s cheeks were slightly flushed, two patches of red clouds appearing. She remained silent in the embrace of her beloved, hugging his neck tightly and murmured, "I’ve moved in without intending to move out again, you’re not allowed to bully me in the future."

Wayne tilted his head slightly, smiling as he said, ""Even if you wanted to move out, I wouldn’t agree. Now that you’ve moved in, don’t even dream of leaving, I won’t let you go for the rest of your life."

"Mhm."

Chris closed her eyes, the image of Veronica leaving in silent tears flashing through her mind, causing a pang of heartache. She said gloomily, ""You’re leaving tomorrow, aren’t you going to say goodbye to Veronica?"

What difference is there between leaving now and being a heartless beast?

Wayne held Chris tight, whispering, ""You’re too kind, which isn’t good, as you can be taken advantage of. You need to learn to be a bit harsher with me, and don’t worry about not being able to end it, I fully deserve it."

Chris snorted softly without a follow-up, not knowing if she really took his words to heart.

"How did you know I was leaving tomorrow?"

"Today at Lando Manor, Mr. Dick called Verily. She left in a hurry and called back later, saying she had found news about her parents and had to go to a very dangerous place..."

Chris opened her eyes: "I guess you know everything and that you will leave with Verily tomorrow as well."

"That’s about right!"

Will you also shield Verily behind you?

Chris thought silently, reaching the obvious conclusion and snorted coldly, "Don’t give Verily a chance, don’t let her hug you from behind. If I find out, I will... ugh."

Wayne immediately interrupted her, covering her mouth and cutting off the latter half of the threat, then turned her beneath him with a single move.

June 15th.

Chris helped Wayne with his clothes, happy that he hadn’t left last night and had stayed by her side obediently. Yet she worried about Veronica being sad, her head bowed as tears fell all night.

It wasn’t even dawn when she pushed Wayne out of bed, got dressed, and escorted him to the door. After a farewell kiss, she watched the sedan slowly drive away.

The reason was to say goodbye to her parents before a long trip.

"Madam, do you have any plans for today?" Philark asked, bowing. If there were no plans, he would send Chris to school on time.

"Philark, I’m not going to school today. Please take me to the Detective Agency at ten o’clock. I’d like to meet Secretary Mona. Thank you for the trouble." Chris said.

"Madam, this is but a part of my duty as the butler."

Philark looked at the young lady before him. Well, let’s just call her a young lady for now. He silently upgraded his assessment, thinking if the master really had to choose a madam, he would cast his vote for Chris.

This madam was gentle and generous, more mature than both Veronica and Verily.

The glint flickered through Philark’s monocle. Since she was no longer a young girl, her attire and appearance needed minor adjustments; she couldn’t wear clothes full of youthful vibe anymore, lest attracting annoying flies that could trouble the master unnecessarily.

Considering this, Philark thought it necessary to educate Chris on the social etiquette of high society.

...

Wayne drove towards Lando Manor, not heading directly to the Sun Church’s base. The luggage in the back seat contained the Knight’s Armor, and Valkyrie was in his hands; he decided when to set off.

Just in case, like needing to sacrifice a teammate but not having a suitable one nearby, he also brought Snowy Owl Ah Xue in a birdcage, now seated in the passenger side.

The young miss’ villa.

Wayne looked at the properly repaired windows, thinking to himself, "professional" - true to the Randao Family, familiar with illness comes expertise in mending windows.

The front door was locked tight, presenting no challenge to Wayne. He took the diary, climbed over the balcony to the second floor, sniffed the air for the scent, and made his way to the second-floor bedroom.
