Mythical Three Kingdoms-Chapter 1589 - 1531: Hua Xiong’s Provocation
"How many Northern Huns are stationed near your tribe?" Chen Xi felt Liu Yu’s question was too scattered, so he went straight to the point.
"More than twelve hundred, but our warriors have all been redeployed, and the chiefs have been controlled." Su Puyan said helplessly.
"Do you have a way to gather the leaders of the Northern Huns together?" Chen Xi continued to ask.
"It’s difficult, but if we prepare properly, it can be done. However, the Northern Huns are very vigilant; at the slightest hint of danger, they will take action without considering our casualties." Su Puyan said angrily.
"Do they have Inner Qi Manifestation?" Chen Xi frowned and asked.
"That’s the one among our Wuhuan who has Inner Qi Manifestation, and he betrayed us. Many chiefs who wanted to turn to the Han Dynasty thought he was like us, but they were deceived by him, and many chiefs have been killed." Su Puyan gritted his teeth and said.
"Uh, how strong is he?" Chen Xi didn’t bother asking for a name, directly inquiring about his strength.
"Inner Qi Manifestation, at the Middle Stage, probably not Perfect." Su Puyan replied.
"Oh, can you handle it, Zijian?" Chen Xi turned to Hua Xiong, reflecting on how Hua Xiong’s strength had been stuck at Inner Qi Manifestation Perfection for years.
"No problem." Hua Xiong said coldly.
"Good, leave it to you, just cut him down later, as for the Northern Huns’ soldiers." Chen Xi turned his head to look at Duan Wei, Hu Feng, Hu Zhen, and others, noting that the Xiliang Iron Cavalry had many commanders capable of leading over a thousand cavalry in battle.
"Leave it to us!" Duan Wei, Hu Zhen, and others shouted.
Su Puyan hesitated slightly but saw Liu Yu nodding slightly, then he spoke, "Then please wait a few hours, I will host the Northern Huns tonight."
Chen Xi nodded, being very satisfied with Su Puyan’s attitude, knowing that losing no time was beneficial regardless.
"Duke Bo’an, I’ll return to my tribe first, and I’ll send the defense map before dinner." Su Puyan said solemnly.
"I will go back with you." Hua Xiong suddenly said.
Su Puyan was somewhat surprised, as he was pondering how to invite Hua Xiong to go back with him, but didn’t expect Hua Xiong himself to suggest it.
[General Hua must be that kind of person, though his expression looks like everyone owes him money, he actually trusts me; otherwise, he wouldn’t have hesitated to choose to go with me to the tribe.] Su Puyan thought internally, but his lips promptly expressed agreement, while Hua Xiong kept his stone-cold face.
"Be careful, Zijian. If it doesn’t work out, just retreat. The plan isn’t important; people are most important." Chen Xi was somewhat concerned, although he felt Su Puyan’s sincerity, honestly he was still inclined to be wary of those outside his kin.
Hua Xiong merely nodded, saying nothing. Although his combat power wasn’t extremely strong, in a real fight, even if the opponent was stronger, it’s unlikely they could easily take him down, as he had sparred with some of the top fighters in the realm.
Su Puyan seemed fed up with the Northern Huns, having confirmed the situation, he immediately led his followers and Hua Xiong back to the main Wuhuan Camp.
"General Hua, once you enter my camp, claim you are a brave warrior from our Supu Tribe. If any Northern Huns block you, just take action, knock down a few, and when they surround you, I’ll come to your aid." Su Puyan said to Hua Xiong once they entered the tribe.
Hua Xiong, expressionless, nodded and then said after a moment of silence, "I don’t speak Wuhuan language."
"Speaking Hanhua is fine, many in our tribe don’t speak Wuhuan." Su Puyan shrugged nonchalantly, which made Hua Xiong a bit surprised.
Once inside the Wuhuan Tribe, Su Puyan arranged for a youth to accompany Hua Xiong, then signaled Hua Xiong to freely explore the camp and consider where to make his move later. Hua Xiong was very satisfied with Su Puyan’s arrangements.
[Despite some issues with integrity, he’s rather skilled at dealing with people.] Hua Xiong thought silently, and then let the young man take him around the Wuhuan Tribe.
At this time, there were not many Wuhuan tribe members moving around the camp, and even if they stepped out of their tents, they hurriedly kept their heads down, fearing capture by the Northern Huns, except for Hua Xiong who boldly scanned everywhere without attracting much attention in his sheep’s clothing.
"Is that the Northern Huns’ camp?" Hua Xiong looked at a cluster of tents in the northeast. Though his camp defense wasn’t remarkable, over the years, he’d seen many camps and knew which were easy and difficult to attack.
As he toured the Wuhuan Camp, not seeing the full layout, Hua Xiong’s basic feeling was that he could easily overthrow this camp if he charged with his soldiers, but that camp in the northeast seemed tougher.
The two camps were completely different, and though Hua Xiong wasn’t much of a thinker, he could readily deduce that the two camps probably weren’t connected.
"Let’s go check out the Northern Huns Camp." Hua Xiong waved his hand grandly and led the Wuhuan youth towards the Northern Huns Camp, standing outside while pondering how to overthrow it with his cavalry come nightfall.
The Northern Huns Camp didn’t care much about being spied on by the Wuhuan people; it was common. But spotting an individual standing outside the camp for nearly a quarter of an hour without concern was unusual, thus a group of idle Northern Huns soldiers rushed out.
"Wuhuan man, what are you doing!" A Northern Huns Centurion on horseback led over ten men to encircle Hua Xiong, noticing his unwavering demeanor, realizing he differed from the usual ones who flee at their approach, they held off from attacking.
"Observing your camp." Fortunately, the Northern Huns spoke Hanhua, which Hua Xiong understood, though the Northern Huns wouldn’t want to speak the Wuhuan language, and using the Huns language might be unintelligible to most Wuhuan, while Hanhua was widely comprehended.
"What have you discerned?" The Northern Huns Centurion asked Hua Xiong with interest.
"Give me a thousand elite soldiers and I’ll cut down everyone." Hua Xiong said coldly, blatantly expressing his intentions, as whether Qiang or Northern Huns, Hu People respected strength. His words unleashed a sudden murderous aura.
The Northern Huns Centurion hardly had the time to respond before the Northern Huns behind him were already aggravated, launching an immediate attack on Hua Xiong.
Lacking Cloud Qi suppression, Hua Xiong’s skills were at a considerable level, easily subduing over ten Northern Huns under the alarming gaze of the Northern Hun youth.
