Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory-Chapter 838: From Savior to Ally
The moment the white bear hit the ground, Namyanna didn't hesitate.
She shot forward, staff raised high. A flash of icy light streaked through the air as she brought it down hard on the bear's chest.
A surge of frost magic exploded on impact, severing the last threads of life in an instant. The massive beast collapsed with a final thud, its life force snuffed out completely.
As the white bear fell, a powerful wave of energy burst from Namyanna's body. The frost aura around her thickened, swirling like a storm, encasing her in a vortex of cold so intense it seemed to freeze the very air.
The savage beasts that remained took one look—and panicked.
Terror gripped them. Some dropped their weapons on the spot and bolted, fleeing in all directions. None dared take another step closer.
Ethan watched as the tide of battle finally turned. Just as he was about to give the order to pursue the fleeing beasts, his eyes snapped to Queen Elowen.
She collapsed.
Her body hit the ground with a heavy thud, limbs limp, her balance completely gone.
Blood vessels burst across her pale, porcelain skin. A thin line of blood trickled from her forehead, sliding down the bridge of her nose.
The nearby soldiers rushed toward her in alarm, but Ethan raised a hand, stopping them.
He knew—there was no time to waste.
He strode quickly to her side, knelt down, and scooped her into his arms. Without a word, he turned and sprinted toward the palace.
The symptoms were clear now. The poison had fully taken hold. That last burst of power she'd unleashed had pushed her body past its limit. If they didn't purge the toxin soon, she wouldn't survive.
Ethan didn't hesitate.
Once inside the palace, he laid her down and immediately began removing her clothes, exposing her snow-white skin. There was no time for modesty—only survival.
He pressed his palm to her lower abdomen, and a surge of energy flowed from his body. It condensed into a small vortex, spinning rapidly as it began to draw the poison out of her system.
The moment the toxins entered his body, Ethan shuddered.
They were vicious—cold, invasive, and fast. The poison spread like wildfire, racing toward his limbs and bones, trying to sink into his marrow.
Anyone else would've been dead already.
But Ethan wasn't just anyone.
After countless battles and near-death experiences, his body had evolved into a powerful self-regulating system. His resistance to toxins was near-absolute.
Even so, the pain was brutal.
His muscles clenched, veins bulging as he forced the poison back, suppressing it with sheer will and strength.
Bit by bit, he drew it all out of her.
By the time the last trace of poison left Queen Elowen's body, Ethan was spent. He collapsed beside her, barely conscious.
Time passed.
How long, he couldn't say.
Eventually, Ethan's eyes fluttered open. He found himself lying on a soft cushion, the room quiet—eerily so.
Across from him, Queen Elowen sat at a table, calmly eating. Her expression was unreadable.
"You're awake?" Her voice was cool, edged with authority, like she was scolding him for waking up too soon.
Ethan blinked, caught off guard.
Seriously? She was poisoned half to death just a while ago, and now she was casually having a meal?
He didn't know whether to laugh or be annoyed.
With a sigh, he stretched, sat up, and grabbed a massive drumstick from the nearby platter, biting into it without ceremony.
Elowen set down her fork and stared at him, her gaze sharp and curious.
"So… you're the lord of Emerald Castle?" she asked, tone flat, but her eyes held a flicker of doubt.
Ethan met her gaze without flinching. He reached into his coat and pulled out a few small, glowing energy orbs, letting them roll in his palm.
"Let's not worry about who I am right now," he said calmly. "Your body's still weak. The poison's gone, but you're not fully recovered. These are compressed energy beads—our scientists developed them. One is enough to restore your stamina."
A faint blush crept onto Elowen's cheeks.
No one had ever treated her like this before—not just saving her life, but offering her something so rare and valuable without hesitation.
She looked down, brushing her fingers through her long hair to hide the flicker of emotion in her eyes.
Then her voice dropped, quieter, more guarded.
"Last time your people came to my lands… what were they really after? Does Emerald Castle plan to take over my kingdom?"
Ethan was mid-bite when he nearly choked on his food.
He coughed, barely holding back a laugh, and waved a hand. "Your Majesty, that's a bit of a misunderstanding…"
He paused, then added with a shrug, "Originally, I just wanted to bring a few ice-type subordinates over to train and boost their strength. That's all. But you ended up driving them out. I think one of them even got killed, didn't they?"
Queen Elowen's expression shifted, a flicker of guilt crossing her face.
Thinking back, she couldn't deny it. At the time, she'd been dealing with internal unrest and external threats. When Feylora and the others arrived, she'd assumed it was a declaration of war. So she'd acted without asking questions—drove them out, even attacked.
She hadn't expected that after such a rash move, Emerald Castle wouldn't retaliate. Instead, their lord had come in person… to save her.
"That was my fault," she said quietly, lowering her head. "I didn't look into the situation properly. If you're still angry, I'll repay it with my life."
Her voice was low, tinged with regret and a hint of helplessness.
Ethan couldn't help but chuckle.
The mighty, commanding Queen Elowen—sounding like a kid caught doing something wrong. It was oddly endearing.
He leaned back, the tension in his chest easing. If life-and-death debts were all it took to settle things, maybe this world wasn't so complicated after all.
"Forget it," he said, waving it off. "The one you killed was just a summoned creature from a Creature Dwelling. No intelligence, no soul. Doesn't even count."
But then his tone shifted, eyes narrowing slightly. "What's more important is your current situation. I doubt those beasts are done. They'll be back—and soon."
Elowen sighed, her expression darkening. "You're right. I may be strong, but my people… they're too weak. Few can actually fight. If we go to war with those beasts again, the outcome is uncertain."
Her voice carried exhaustion, but also a simmering fury.
"This world used to have only a few species. But I… I was too soft. I let more and more races in—most of them with powerful ice bloodlines. I wanted diversity, balance. I gave them shelter."
Her fists clenched, voice rising. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"And they repaid me with betrayal."
Her eyes burned with rage, the kind that had been building for years. She looked like she could tear those traitors apart with her bare hands.
Ethan stretched lazily, resting back in his chair with a small grin. "I don't have a massive army, but if you need help, I can call in reinforcements from Emerald Castle. You and I together? We can wipe them out."
Elowen blinked, caught off guard. Her gaze lifted to meet his, and for a moment, something unspoken passed between them.
"If you help me end this," she said slowly, voice steady and sincere, "then from this day forward, I'll do anything for you."
Her words weren't dramatic—they were a vow. Clear. Unshakable.
Ethan froze for a second, surprised by the weight behind her promise. There was no pride in her tone, no manipulation. Just raw honesty.
He nodded, his voice low and firm. "Alright. I'll head back to Emerald Castle and bring the troops."
But before he could say another word—
Bang!
The door slammed open.
A small rabbit, its fur shimmering with frost, darted into the room, panic in its voice. "Bad news! They're here! They've surrounded the entire palace!"
Ethan and Elowen both stiffened.
So fast?
Without hesitation, they rushed to the battlements.
What they saw made the air feel heavier.
The land beyond the walls was completely overrun. Beasts stretched as far as the eye could see, a living tide of claws and fangs.
And at the front stood a white bear—massive, monstrous, radiating a terrifying aura.
It dwarfed the one Ethan had fought earlier. This one was a giant, its body so large it seemed to blot out the sky.
The cold rolling off it was suffocating, far more intense than anything they'd felt before.
Its golden eyes glowed with a chilling menace, and the gem embedded in its forehead pulsed with a deadly light—so cold it felt like even the air was freezing solid.
