Chapter 291: Why did you choose to follow me?

If we’re talking about the Signature Legendary Units from the major factions, their overall power ratings usually start at around 80 out of 100. That’s the baseline.

But when it comes to these special hidden Legendary Units?

They start at 1 out of 100.

Yeah—1.

The range is massive.

Let’s start with the Ancient War Tree, Oakenmaw.

Its weaknesses? Blatantly obvious.

It’s vulnerable to fire, moves at a snail’s pace, and while it does have some ranged attacks, they’re nothing to write home about—just basic, average stuff.

And because of its racial traits, it’s basically locked into playing defense. Even then, it’s not exactly safe—its flaws are so glaring, it’s easy to counter.

So, if we were rating it like a regular unit, based on overall performance?

At best, it’d score somewhere between 30 and 40.

But as a Mythic Ace Unit? freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Where the focus is more on raw individual combat power?

Oakenmaw probably edges out Green Dragon Orryn.

Now, as for Gem Dragon Seran...

From Ethan’s perspective, the Gem Dragon race actually deserves a pretty high overall rating.

They’ve got thick HP pools, hit hard, and have solid defense.

They’re also immune to magic.

Their movement speed isn’t quite on par with the Green Dragons, but it’s not a weakness either.

And the fact that the Gem Dragons have managed to hold their own on the open seas for so many years? That says a lot. Whether it’s land, air, or naval combat—they’ve got no real weak spots.

In other words, as far as individual unit strength goes, this race has no obvious flaws.

Ethan even feels like the Gem Dragons are kind of a hybrid between the Green Dragons and the Ancient War Trees.

Green Dragons are fast and agile, with magic immunity, but they’re squishy—low HP, low attack, low defense.

Ancient War Trees are the opposite—tanky as hell, high attack and defense, but slow as molasses and weak to fire.

Gem Dragons, though?

It’s like they took the strengths of both and canceled out the weaknesses.

Which makes them look like a race built for elite solo power.

Their downsides probably lie in things like recruitment cost, limited numbers, or long cooldowns between deployments.

There’s gotta be a trade-off somewhere.

Otherwise, they’d be the poster child for every major faction.

But for a Legendary Ace Unit like Gem Dragon Seran?

All of that just makes her even more powerful.

That’s why Ethan figures Seran is probably stronger than both Oakenmaw and Orryn—assuming their Hero Unit evolution stats are roughly equal.

If we think of evolving a regular unit into a Hero Unit as a 100% evolution process...

Then even just 0.01% of that evolution? That’s what makes an Ace Unit.

And if a unit ever hits the full 100%? That’s when it officially becomes a Hero Unit.

The evolution percentage has a massive impact on a Royal Unit’s strength.

The higher the number, the closer an Ace Unit gets to true Hero Unit power.

...

Out at sea, a Tier 4 warship was cutting through the waves, heading back toward the Stellamaris Kingdom.

Cicero was sprawled out on top of the ship’s cabin, curled up lazily with his tail flicking now and then. Aside from that occasional movement, he was practically motionless, basking in the sun like a cat without a care in the world.

Meanwhile, Kyros was having the time of his life beneath the waves—splashing, diving, and stirring up massive swells. Sometimes he’d burst out of the ocean, sprinting across the surface like a force of nature, sending sprays of seawater raining down on the deck. The cool mist hit the crew like a refreshing breeze, drawing a few laughs and cheers.

But not everyone was so relaxed.

On the other side of the ship, Mana Crystal Dragon Zyraxis and Gem Dragon Seran stood frozen, their faces etched with shock.

They were clearly stunned.

"My Lord... actually has two Crimson Ultimate heroes?" Zyraxis muttered, his voice low and full of disbelief.

His expression said it all—he was floored.

Up until now, they’d assumed Ethan only had one Crimson Ultimate hero—Kyros. After all, Cicero and Seraphina hadn’t been around, so there was no reason to think otherwise. But now, with Cicero casually showing up like it was nothing, the truth hit them like a tidal wave.

Forget two Crimson Ultimates—even having one was enough to command serious respect.

Because they knew exactly what a Crimson Ultimate hero meant.

Once fully developed, a Crimson Ultimate could become the cornerstone of an entire empire. Some even had the potential to rise to the level of King-tier powerhouses within the major factions.

So yeah, this was a big deal.

The kind of big deal that made your stomach drop.

They hadn’t expected Ethan to be this powerful. Two Crimson Ultimates? That was insane.

Clack, clack, clack...

Footsteps echoed across the deck. Lilith approached, nodding slightly.

"You two—Lord Ethan wants to see you."

Zyraxis and Seran exchanged a quick glance, both of them still reeling from the revelation. They took a moment to collect themselves, then nodded back at Lilith and followed her across the deck.

"My Lord."

"My Lord."

They bowed respectfully as they reached Ethan.

Ethan, for his part, was lounging on the deck just like Cicero, stretched out in the sun with a relaxed smile on his face.

"No need to be so formal," he said, waving a hand casually. "I was just bored and figured I’d have a chat. Seran, I’ve been meaning to ask you something..."

He turned his gaze toward the Gem Dragon.

"Yes, My Lord?" Seran replied, standing at attention.

"Why did you choose to follow me?" Ethan asked, genuinely curious. "You could’ve stayed with your people. Why come out here?"

Seran paused for a moment, then answered in a calm, steady voice. "Because my dream is to become a Hero Unit. And to do that, I needed to see the world—experience it for myself."

"I see..." Ethan nodded thoughtfully, clearly intrigued.

But Zyraxis looked puzzled. He tilted his head and asked, "But Seran, why does becoming a Hero Unit mean you have to leave? Couldn’t you just stay with the clan and grow stronger there?"
