Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory-Chapter 266: Elemental Vulnerability
Chapter 266: Elemental Vulnerability
"I’m going in, Master..." Kyros took a deep breath—
Then, without hesitation, he launched himself into the sea with a powerful leap!
At the same time, Seraphina, Cicero, Elyra, and Auremax sprang into action as well. Some soared into the sky, others activated their domains to cloak themselves in magic.
Each of them was moving into position, finding the spot that best suited their combat style...
"It’s starting..."
Watching it all unfold, Ethan took a deep breath too. He muttered under his breath, then spread his wings and shot toward the ocean. He could already feel it—within just a few seconds, the sea below had turned violent and chaotic.
BOOM!
Woooo... woooo... woooo...
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A deep, thunderous rumble echoed from the ocean floor, followed by eerie, drawn-out wailing sounds. They were the cries of the Leviathans—Deep Sea Leviathans, to be exact. The sounds were oddly childlike, like the cries of newborns, but twisted and unnatural, sending chills down Ethan’s spine.
And then, he saw them.
Thanks to Kyros’s baiting, massive shapes began to stir in the depths. One after another, enormous creatures emerged from the shadows, rising toward the surface in pursuit.
"They’re fast... way too fast..."
Ethan’s expression shifted as he stared down into the water.
With his current power, he could just barely make out what was happening beneath the waves. And that was enough to make him realize just how terrifying Kyros—the Crimson Ultimate Hero of the Kirin race—really was. And how monstrous those Leviathans and Deep Sea Leviathans were in their own right.
Forget everything else—just their speed alone was insane. They were moving at least several times faster than he could. If he’d been the one trying to lure them out instead of Kyros, he probably wouldn’t have made it more than a few thousand feet before getting caught.
And that’s not even considering their size.
These beasts were colossal—some stretching thousands, even tens of thousands of feet long. If they surrounded you, it’d be like being swallowed by a living storm, trapped in a cage of flesh and teeth.
And yet, Kyros was handling it all with ease.
No—more than ease. He was gliding through it like it was nothing.
In the blink of an eye, Kyros had already broken through the Leviathans’ blockade beneath the sea and burst through the surface.
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
One after another, the monstrous creatures followed, erupting from the ocean in a terrifying display of raw power. Their full forms were finally revealed.
[Leviathan]
Tier: 13
HP: 17,000 (+?)
Attack: 124 (+?)
Defense: 105 (+?)
Damage: 213–235 (+?)
Innate Abilities:
Tentacle Grasp: A wide-area magical attack. The Leviathan lashes out with countless tentacles to ensnare enemies. The more you struggle, the tighter the grip—until you collapse from exhaustion and die.
Abyssal Suppression: While in deep-sea environments, the Leviathan passively weakens enemies’ overall stats by 5%–20% at random. The drained power is absorbed by the Leviathan, boosting its own strength. (Note: This only affects living beings. It has no effect on magical constructs or certain rare oceanic species.)
Elemental Vulnerability: Leviathans are extremely weak to Fire and Thunder magic. Fire damage is increased by 50%, Thunder damage by 100%. Negative effects like Burn, Scorch, Paralysis, and Penetration from these elements also last 50% longer and hit harder.
[Deep Sea Leviathan]
Tier: 14
HP: 31,000 (+?)
Attack: 169 (+?)
Defense: 145 (+?)
Damage: 266–312 (+?)
Innate Abilities:
Tentacle Grasp: A wide-area magical attack. The Leviathan lashes out with countless tentacles to ensnare enemies. The more you struggle, the tighter the grip—until you collapse from exhaustion and die.
Abyssal Suppression: While in deep-sea environments, passively reduces enemies’ overall stats by 10%–30% at random. The drained power is absorbed to enhance the Leviathan’s own strength. (Note: Only affects living beings. No effect on magical constructs or certain rare oceanic species.)
Ocean’s Dominion: The Deep Sea Leviathan wields the power of the ocean itself. Aside from the Sacred Kirin, no one can wrest control of the sea from it.
Elemental Vulnerability: Deep Sea Leviathans are highly vulnerable to Fire and Thunder magic. Fire damage is increased by 30%, Thunder damage by 50%. Negative effects like Burn, Scorch, Paralysis, and Penetration from these elements are 30% more potent and last longer.
"Damn... those abilities are no joke," Ethan muttered, his mouth slightly open in disbelief.
Honestly, just looking at the Leviathan and Deep Sea Leviathan’s base stats... they’re not that impressive.
Their attack, defense, even damage output—compared to others in their tier, they’re below average. No, scratch that—they’re downright weak. Their numbers are even lower than the base stats of the Kirin and Sacred Kirin.
The only thing they’ve really got going for them is their massive HP pool and thick hides. But that’s about it. Judging by stats alone, they’d be sitting at the bottom of the food chain among Legendary and Mythic Units.
But then you look at their innate abilities—
And that changes everything.
Tentacle Grasp? Classic entanglement magic. But underwater? It’s a nightmare. That kind of crowd control in an environment where movement’s already limited? Brutal.
Then there’s Abyssal Suppression. It’s eerily similar to the Kirin race’s core ability, Watersurge Empowerment.
The difference? Watersurge Empowerment boosts the user. Abyssal Suppression weakens the enemy and then feeds that stolen power back to the Leviathan.
And honestly? That’s way more terrifying for most units.
As for Ocean’s Dominion? That one’s just straight-up busted.
It’s not even an exaggeration to call it Hero Unit–level. It literally alters the battlefield. And when you combine it with Tentacle Grasp and Abyssal Suppression? It’s a perfect synergy.
Any unit even slightly vulnerable to Water Magic?
Yeah, they’re screwed.
Caught in that combo, they wouldn’t even know what hit them before they’re dead.
But of course, the Leviathan and Deep Sea Leviathan have a glaring weakness too. Fire and Thunder.
Especially Thunder.
A 100% damage boost from Thunder Magic? And 50% from Fire? That’s practically double damage. Add in the extended duration and increased potency of burn, paralysis, and other status effects?
That’s terrifying.
"These Leviathans... they’re seriously one of the most extreme species I’ve ever seen," Ethan muttered to himself.
And it was true. Now that they had a clear picture of what they were dealing with, the most obvious word that came to mind when describing the Leviathan race was:
Extreme.
No exaggeration—if these things stayed in the deep sea where they belonged, even the Kirin and Sacred Kirin might not be able to do anything about them.
But if they ever got forced out of their element—or worse, if someone came at them with Fire or Thunder Magic?
They’d get wiped out. Fast. Like, blink-and-they’re-gone fast.
And with that kind of fatal weakness, it wasn’t hard to see why the Abyssal Civilization had vanished from history.
They were the losers in the great faction wars.
Being extreme means having clear strengths—but also painfully obvious weaknesses. And that makes you easy to counter. That’s why hyper-specialized units rarely stand the test of time.
Look at the major factions still standing today.
You won’t find many that rely on units this one-dimensional.
Though speaking of extremes... Ethan couldn’t help but think of his own Ancient War Tree race. They were the definition of extreme too. Unstoppable in defense, unbeatable when holding ground—but outside of that? Pretty much useless.
No wonder they got wiped out.
He drifted into a momentary daze at the thought.
Then shook his head, snapping himself back to the present.
"But for us... this is actually great news," Ethan said, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the monstrous Leviathans rising from the sea, a sly grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Because both the Leviathan and Deep Sea Leviathan—
Had Elemental Vulnerability.
And for Elyra, who was born with mastery over Thunder Magic?
That weakness was about to become her greatest weapon.
