Chapter 245: Elemental Suppression

The moment Malphas laid eyes on Ethan, he completely lost it.

Inferno Flames exploded from his body, raging and surging like a living storm, thick with murderous intent and a bone-chilling cold. The searing heat and killing aura rushed straight toward Ethan, engulfing the air around him.

"You filthy worm! Never thought I’d run into you here! Perfect—I’ll settle old scores and new ones all at once! I’m gonna tear you apart, limb by limb, until there’s nothing left!"

Malphas roared, his killing intent practically shaking the heavens. Without a second thought, he abandoned Thalrun, who was right in front of him.

Whoosh!

He transformed into a blazing streak of fire, shooting toward Ethan like a meteor.

But just as he was about to reach him—

Boom!

A massive battle axe, glowing with a vast, deep blue light, came crashing down out of nowhere. The swing unleashed a colossal arc of energy, easily hundreds of feet wide, radiating a terrifying pressure. It slammed straight into Malphas with a deafening impact.

Thud!

Malphas was sent flying, tumbling through the air like a broken comet.

If you looked closely, you’d see the one who struck was none other than Paxton, the Tidebreaker himself.

And right now, Paxton was fully unleashed—his aura surging wildly, his power cranked up to the max.

"All Emerald Castle lords, attack together!" Paxton barked, his voice low and commanding. "Infernal Lords are cunning and treacherous. We can’t give him even a sliver of a chance!"

"Got it," Ethan replied, taking a deep breath. His eyes narrowed sharply as he stared at Malphas, who was struggling to right himself after being blasted away.

"Holy shit..."

The second Ethan got a good look at Malphas’s full power stats, a shiver ran down his spine.

He couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.

So this was the true strength of an Infernal Lord?

Damn... this was insane!

Over 800 points of magic damage at max output—what the hell kind of concept was that?

That had to be more devastating than a freaking nuclear blast!

In just a split second, an overwhelming pressure crashed down on Ethan’s heart.

But even so—

The fight had to happen.

There was no backing down.

If Malphas didn’t die here today, there was no way he’d ever let Ethan live. Not after what happened back at Molten Gold Gorge, where Ethan had been forced into suicide because of him.

The Inferno faction wasn’t just known for being treacherous and ruthless—they were also infamous for their obsessive need for revenge. They never let a grudge go.

Thinking of that, Ethan didn’t hesitate.

He raised his hand high—and summoned every last bit of his forces!

"Everyone, get out here! Now!"

In an instant, the battlefield was flooded with his troops:

Eight 14-Tier Sacred Kirins,

Twenty 13-Tier Kirins,

Fifty 12-Tier Naga Swordmasters and War Unicorns,

One hundred 11-Tier Naga Swordsmen and regular Unicorns,

And then there was Gold Dragon Auremax,

Plus Crimson Ultimate Hero, Kyros!

After the crazy leveling spree they’d pulled off earlier, Kyros’s level had shot up—he was now just shy of hitting level 30!

Sure, compared to Malphas’s monstrous level 68, it was still a huge gap.

But Kyros was no pushover. He was a serious force to be reckoned with.

And more importantly—Kyros’s innate mastery over water magic was a natural counter to Malphas’s fire-based Inferno Flames.

If they played this right, if they coordinated perfectly—

Kyros might just be the key to turning this whole battle around!

...

"Kirin?"

"Another Crimson Ultimate hero?!"

The moment Kyros appeared, Malphas’s pupils shrank sharply, his voice trembling with shock.

Crimson Ultimate heroes weren’t exactly growing like weeds out here. Even in the Inferno faction, they barely had a handful. If they had more, Malphas wouldn’t have been so desperate to kill Thalrun and steal his Crimson Ultimate hero’s Primordial Force.

And now, Ethan had summoned yet another one? A Kirin, no less—a completely unfamiliar face!

Wasn’t it supposed to be that damned Green Dragon he had before?!

What the hell—how many Crimson Ultimate heroes does this guy have?!

And it wasn’t just the number that rattled Malphas. A Green Dragon and a Kirin? They weren’t even from the same faction! Forest faction, Tidesworn faction—how the hell did Ethan manage to get Crimson Ultimate heroes from both sides?!

While Malphas was still reeling from the shock, Ethan had already started barking out orders.

"Kyros, Tsunami! Sacred Kirin, Kirin—bring the clouds, flood this place! Turn it into an ocean!"

"Yes, Master!"

"Roooar!"

Kyros leapt into the sky, his hooves stepping on thin air, and let out a thunderous Kirin roar. Instantly, the heavens darkened as thick, black storm clouds rolled in, rumbling with deafening thunder. Then, the skies ripped open, unleashing a torrential downpour so fierce it was like the heavens themselves had sprung a leak.

Rain poured down in endless sheets, hammering the ground with a relentless fury.

In just seconds, the searing, suffocating heat that had blanketed the battlefield turned into a choking steam, the air thick and heavy.

At the same time, Sacred Kirin and Kirin unleashed their innate ability—Weatherweaving!

BOOM!

BOOM!

THUD!

...

The rain grew even heavier, even more violent!

The endless downpour smothered the raging fires on the ground in an instant, snuffing them out like candles in a storm.

And the water kept rising—higher and higher, pooling into a growing flood.

"Goddamn it... Stop them!" Malphas roared, his face twisting in fury the moment he realized what was happening.

THUD!

HISSSS—

With a furious roar, Malphas unleashed a massive surge of Inferno Flames from his body, blasting outward in a circular shockwave. The ring of fire exploded with terrifying force, vaporizing everything in its path—rain, floodwater, everything—within a split second.

The sheer power was overwhelming.

But even so, the relentless rain kept falling, slowly but surely gaining the upper hand, swallowing up the heat and flames until there was nothing left but steam and water.

It wasn’t that Malphas was weaker than Kyros—far from it.

The problem was, Malphas was fighting alone.

Meanwhile, Kyros had Ethan, plus The Tidebreaker Paxton leading an entire army of Sacred Kirin and Kirin at his back!

As for Malphas’s Infernal Legions?

They were completely tied up—locked in brutal combat against the Naga Swordmasters and Naga Swordsmen that Paxton had brought, along with Karnak, Arbachel, and the rest of the Metal Golems. They had no way to break free and come to Malphas’s aid...

"Man, having more people really does make a difference. Without The Tidebreaker Paxton’s help, this mission would’ve been at least SS-rank difficulty," Ethan muttered, shaking his head.

But he didn’t have time to dwell on it—his focus snapped right back to Infernal Lord Malphas.

And that’s when Ethan noticed something new: both Malphas and the 11th-Tier Efreet and 12th-Tier Efreet Sultans in the Infernal Legions had a fresh debuff hanging over them.

Debuff: Elemental Suppression — All Attributes -10%!

"Perfect..." Ethan’s eyes narrowed, a surge of excitement rushing through him.

A 10% drop across the board wasn’t just some minor inconvenience—on a powerhouse like Malphas, it was a game-changer. It would seriously ease the pressure on their side.

But just as he was getting pumped, something went horribly wrong.

BOOM!

Without warning, a terrifying surge of magic exploded from Malphas’s body. In an instant, a force like a nuclear blast erupted outward, shaking the very air.

And over the deafening roar, Ethan heard Malphas’s voice—cold, furious, and dripping with murderous rage.

"Inferno... Flames!"

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM...

The earth-shattering explosions felt like they were tearing through Ethan’s soul. A massive crimson mushroom cloud erupted, expanding at a terrifying speed, swallowing everything within tens of thousands of feet in seconds.

"Holy shit..." Ethan’s pupils shrank to pinpricks. He flared his wings and shot backward, but even then, he couldn’t fully escape the blast. The searing heat and crushing shockwave slammed into him, nearly knocking the air from his lungs.

When he managed to look back at the battlefield—

The once lush ground had been scorched black, turned into a hellish wasteland.

The earth itself was melting, glowing red-hot like a river of lava had swept through.

It was pure devastation.

And it wasn’t just the scenery that had taken a hit. Ethan’s forces—and Paxton’s—had been absolutely wrecked. In just a few heartbeats, nearly two-thirds of their troops had been wiped out, sent straight back to the respawn point.

Countless lives, gone in an instant.

Gulping hard, Ethan felt his worldview shatter a little.

This... this was the true power of a mage-class hero after a second awakening?

Just one massive AoE spell—

And their armies were practically erased?!

"No wonder they say mage-type Infernal Lords are monsters... That AoE magic is insane..." Ethan muttered, his voice hoarse.

The Tidebreaker Paxton’s face was grim as he stared at Malphas, but he didn’t look surprised—only pained and furious.

With his experience, he’d seen this kind of thing before.

Mage-class heroes, after their second awakening, could unleash magic that was nothing short of apocalyptic.

It was the kind of power that could suffocate hope itself.

But the battle wasn’t over. Neither Ethan nor Paxton had the luxury of standing around in shock. If Malphas unleashed another spell like that, they wouldn’t have any troops left to fight with.

And no one could survive that twice.

"Emerald Castle Lord," Paxton said, his voice low and urgent, "I’ll keep Malphas busy. You take care of the Efreet and Efreet Sultans—kill them as fast as you can. If we don’t, they’ll keep feeding Malphas magic energy. The longer this drags on, the worse it’ll get for us. Our losses will just keep piling up."

Malphas was burning through magic like crazy—but the Efreet and Efreet Sultans were elemental beings of fire magic themselves.

In other words, they could willingly channel their own core magic into Malphas, keeping him topped off.

And a mage boss who could stay at full mana indefinitely?

Just look at the devastation from that last Inferno Flames spell.

There was no way they could survive another one.

They had to act—fast.
