Chapter 99: Spirit metamorphosis!

The expansive cave was as large as a football field, or perhaps even larger, its immense space dwarfing the two within. The vaulted ceiling soared high above, disappearing into shadows that suggested it stretched for hundreds of feet.

Jagged formations jutted outward, creating natural alcoves and niches that possibly hid grotesque beasts unique to this cave. There was a red flood that pooled at ankle height, cold and sticky, it released a scent that was very familiar to the stellar genius duo.

More strikingly was the rhythmical splattering creating a musical quality, a haunting melody. It originated from the blood rain that fell from above. As these droplets of blood rain fell onto the red flood, this sound came to.

Glistening with peculiarities as it descended, as it splashed atop Anon’s head, soaking his hair, his eyes suddenly brightened.

"Do you feel that?" Anon turned to Seth. The latter could perceive the pleasure that oozed from Anon’s voice.

"Indeed, the droplets don’t just contain properties of a blood principle, but it’s genuine blood. The blood of what creature? I do not know. But it must at least be a Beast General..." Seth said.

"Hehe, the aura each droplets radiate would prevent beasts from drawing near this cave. This place is much safer to cultivate than the Red Ape’s home." Anon said this whilst slowly bending down. He didn’t seem to mind the blood pool, and instead, immediately assumed a meditative posture.

"What if the creature is still alive?" Seth asked with an amused expression.

"How big is this cave? And yet, there’s a pool of blood reaching our ankles. No matter how large that creature’s body is, that’s way too much blood." Anon dismissed.

He was right too.

The cave was at least the size of a football field.

"And even if it isn’t dead, it’ll at least be in hibernation like the Red Ape." Anon said, "Just protect me. My spirit has been itching for a day and some."

It had been a little more than a day since Bolan’s life came to an end. Since then, Anon was constantly assaulted by the desire to enter meditation.

Though it wasn’t exactly the same, it was similar to being sleep deprived. He felt sluggish and even agitated at times. It was no different than having an itch that one isn’t able to scratch.

Seth stared at Anon as the latter closed his eyes and relaxed his body.

Anon took several deep breaths, exhaling slowly before breathing once again.

There was a subtle buzzing in the back of his mind that slowly disappeared as his heart grew calm and his mind, silent.

Slowly but surely, Anon’s senses subsided.

Seth stood near him, and yet, Anon was unaware of exactly where.

As a murderous light shone in Seth’s eyes, he stepped towards Anon.

Clicking his tongue, his hand which slowly stretched out towards Anon, paused.

’Hmm.’

’It’s so easy.’

’So very easy right now.’

’With a single snap, the child would be gone.’

’In one movement, the celestials will all be angered and disgusted.’

’I just need to twist his neck, and immediately after, the will of the world’s lord would suffer a great setback.’

’Killing this boy will never again be so easy. And yet, if I do kill him, how will I grasp it? How?! How?! How?! Ah-! I can’t. I’ll never touch it if he doesn’t summon it.’

’It can’t be summoned without all three being found.’

’Hurry up Anon, I’m losing patience.’

...

Drip... Drip... Drip...

Golden raindrops.

There was a light drizzle that fell, causing Anon’s hair to be soaked and for droplets to fall from his face and splash onto the earth beneath him.

There was a golden sky above his head, and as he stood at the edge of a towering cliff, his gaze fell on the dark clouds that shrouded the world below.

The winds howled in his presence, akin to ancient whispers that were not welcoming. As it lashed against his skin, a chilling aura pervaded his senses, causing his body to tremble slightly.

But as he raised his chin and looked at the golden sky, or more specifically, the golden droplets that fell from the sky, what he saw completely opened his mind.

A single golden droplet.

Falling.

Anon’s head spun as he saw his reflection.

He stumbled several steps back before he regained his sense of balance. But when he approached the edge of the cliff once again, so as to see the shrouded world, he tripped.

Falling.

It was a strange feeling.

As he descended from the sky, there was a sense of weakness that drowned his mind. It wasn’t something that he had sensed before.

A booming sound resounded and he fell into the dark clouds.

There, a flash of golden lightning bolted towards him. Unable to react, it landed on his fleshy body with a crackling sound, exploding into golden particles.

A sizzling sound entered his ears, but his body was unmoving. Pain prevented his muscles from even twitching slightly as he remained in a continuous descent.

Then, the crackling noise of another bolt of lightning resounded in the distance. Arcing across the sky, the lightning bolt landed against Anon’s body once again.

He growled in pain!

More noticeably, a crack had begun to form on his body, and from the crack, a strange yet brilliant fragment of light seeped through.

Rather than a fleshy body made up of blood and bones, it appeared as if Anon’s physical form was merely a container, holding within, a divine light.

Crackle!

Lighting up the dark clouds, another bolt of lightning appeared.

It raced across the sky, arcing through the atmosphere, and crashed into the crack on Anon’s body, causing him to release a thunderous roar of pain.

This pained growl resounded into the far reaches of the grand sky, shaking the world. At the same time, the crack on his body expanded, forming many cracks.

The brilliant light that seeped through his body became more and more visible, clearing the dark clouds in his near vicinity.

And as another golden lightning appeared, it was the fourth and final bolt.

Anon did not need another bolt as his body crumbled, being swallowed by the golden light from withing, a light that went on to encompass the entire world.

...

Anon opened his eyes.

He released a breath of turbid air.

As his gaze trailed, a frown slowly unraveled on Anon’s face.

’Where has he gone to now?’ Anon wondered, slightly annoyed.

Seth was no where near him.

It was especially frustrating because he could disappear from Anon’s perception, but Anon could not say that he could do the same.

Even if Anon attempted to, he couldn’t truly escape Seth’s principle.

At least, he was yet to find a way of ridding whatever connection had been established between himself and Seth.

Rising to his feet, Anon was about to analyze his surroundings in depth, but he unconsciously gasped in surprise as he looked down at his body.

It was difficult to accurately describe the sensation coursing through his body, but he had suddenly grown much more sensitive to his muscles.

His flesh actively felt more compact and his vision was stronger. The entire cave almost felt as if it had shrunk in size, as if the distance from one point to another had significantly shortened.

At the same time, he instinctively felt confidence. He was confident that he could crush the earth, and the ceiling above. He was confident that he could destroy the walls of the cave.

His strength, speed, and overall physical stats had increased drastically. Similarly, his spirit had grown stronger, immensely increasing his mental state.

The splashing blood, as he walked through the shallow flood, the dripping droplets that fell from his soaked clothing into the blood pool, he heard everything very clearly.

For a moment, his mind had blanked due to the overstimulation, but that was just for a very short moment, not even longer than the time taken to blink one’s eyes.

Swiftly adjusting to the changes in his body, he decided that he would go into the depths of the cave, to locate Seth.

But right before he even took his first step, he brought himself to a halt.

Almost as if he sensed Anon’s awakening, Seth exited the depths of the cave where darkness shrouded his figure, approaching Anon.

"I went in search of any creature possibly living, but I found nothing." Although Seth whispered this, especially since they were in an enclosed cave, though it was expansive, Anon easily heard his words.

"Like I said, there’s nothing to worry about." Anon replied.

But Seth shook his head and focused his gaze on Anon.

"I didn’t even find a corpse." Seth said.

He pointed upwards, "I entered the alcoves in search of something, but there’s nothing, not a corpse, not a skeleton, not even a spec of blood."

Hearing this, Anon’s expressions subtly changed.

This was simply too drastic.

If there was indeed a dying or dead creature that oozed this incredible amount of blood, it should’ve been located by Seth already.

It was clearly very injured, so it must be in a state of hibernation.

Whether it be in the depths of the cave or the cavities, there should at least be something hinting at its existence.

"Anyway, have you entered the second layer?" Seth seemingly dismissed the glaring doubts and mysteries about this cave and focused on Anon. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Indeed." Anon replied.

He opened his palm and then clenched his fist tightly, saying, "There was the pressure from the monkey horde, and then being injured whilst traversing the forest. After that, it was Bolan, the second monkey horde, and the fact that I meditated whilst submerged in the blood of a beast general."

"With all of these experiences, my spirit evolved rapidly." Anon said.

At least eight.

After all of this, Anon could complete at least eight simple tasks, allowing him to step into the second layer of the second world.

Seth heard this and closed his eyes.

A short period of silence followed before he suggested calmly, "Why don’t you try refining that Sky-grade treasure?"
