Chapter 91: Fortune

The terrain of the Blood-Drip Jungle was far from uniform. Anon and Seth experienced this firsthand, stumbling to the edge of a small cliff. Small in that they only stood five or so meters above the ground in front of them.

Leaping into the air, they landed with the head-high shrubs and bushes behind them. Though Anon continued to walk, Seth glanced back at these bushes with a strange expression. It almost appeared as if he saw past these bushes and into the depths of the cave where Bolan had made his breakthrough.

"What’s wrong?" Anon sensed this oddness and turned around. But Seth only chuckled, "Hehe, it’s nothing." He said. Right after, he silently followed Anon deeper into the forest.

...

Bolan had left behind a trail of corpses in his wake.

Although these corpses would soon be absorbed back into mother nature, the amount of time that passed was too short for them to be fully devoured.

One of these corpses, of a one-winged monkey, rested on the ground. Whilst its body was in one place, its severed head was some distance away.

A tactical boot descended from above, landing on the beast’s head, crushing it with force. Blood, and gooey matter splashed into the air as two figures walked past the corpse.

Though brain matter splashed onto his face, Seth went so far as to stick his tongue out.

Naturally, what occurred after was disgusting to most.

Yet, neither him nor Anon seemed to care.

"Did Bolan do all of this?" From the tone of his voice, it was clear that Anon was slightly taken aback. As time passed, the duo continued to come across one-winged monkey corpses. When the number of corpses entered double digits, a frown slowly unraveled on Anon’s face.

"From his sneak attack, it’s clear that he has achieved the level of mastery over his body that we spoke of back then," Seth interjected with a monotonous voice, "And when coupled with his darkness, it produces a very talented assassin."

As he mused over the many corpses that they had come across, Seth continued, "But for him to go on such a killing spree, it still doesn’t make sense, unless of course, he’s in the second world now."

"The second world?" Anon squinted his eyes upon hearing Seth’s casual deduction.

’Things would become slightly more complicated if Bolan’s already in the second world.’ Anon thought, ’Not only does darkness related principles assist with stealth, as a stellar fighter with said principle becomes more powerful, they also become more difficult to kill. That is of course, for other stellar fighters in the same realm of strength.’

Roaches.

This was another term used to describe stellar fighters with darkness related principles.

’To add to that, he has mastery over the body. That must greatly amplify his regenerative abilities...’ Pondering on this, a strange expression plastered itself across Anon’s face. Although it made him appear more determined than before, there was a peculiarity in his eyes that was unassuming, yet unsettling.

"Are you getting second thoughts now?" Seth asked, smirking whilst glancing at Anon.

"No, quite the opposite actually." Anon’s facial expressions relaxed as a calmness returned. Whatever oddities that once mixed into his expressions before, vanished without a trace.

EEE! EEE! EEE!

Just then, a familiar sound entered their vicinity.

Following a flash of golden light, Anon swung his staff towards the incoming one-winged monkey!

Although it was hundreds of meters away when it bellowed out, by the time he reacted, it had already crossed this distance.

It was only a second, if so much.

As his staff collided with the monkey, the powerful collision of opposing forces sent ripples into the surroundings. For a second, there was a stalemate where both the monkey and Anon refused to budge.

In this time, Seth bit his finger, causing droplets of blood to fall. But these droplets paused in the air before abruptly erupting with speed towards the one-winged monkey.

Though it sensed this danger, and reacted quickly, Seth’s crimson orbs gleamed as he lightly chuckled. Reacting to his light-hearted laughter, the droplets of blood suddenly exploded into a bright red light, momentarily blinding both the monkey and Anon.

Thereafter, sounds of chaotic waves entered Anon’s ears.

By the time his vision cleared, the one-winged monkey was already picked up by a flowing red river that materialized out of nowhere.

The river water radiated a strong bloody scent, and it continuously stretched for several meters before changing its course, upwards.

The one-winged monkey was carried into the sky.

Tens of meters turned into hundreds of meters before the river disappeared.

Surrounding the one-winged monkey was a bloody aura as it bellowed out with a painful expression. It’s single wing trembled and squirmed, but it did not flap with its previous luster.

So, with a booming explosion, it returned to earth!

As the debris settled, the one-winged monkey was nestled inside of a small crater, oozing blood from its orifices whilst too weak to return to its feet.

"Huh?!" Anon glanced at Seth. He said with a perplexed tone, "Every time you use your principle, it almost seems as if you found a new way to manipulate it."

"Is that so?" Seth replied concisely. "More importantly, I previously thought that the path to Bolan would be without any obstacle. After all, he was clearly wiping out every creature he came across... How strange?"

Rustle!

Startling the two, a powerful gust of wind lashed out at them. The leaves and bushes rustled whilst the wind released a low howl in the air.

At the same time, completely unexpected...

Boom!

Originating from far away was a deafening noise, seemingly the cause of the chaotic winds.

The two stellar geniuses were alarmed, but the earth under their feet gave way as they exploded with speed towards the origin of this eruption!

...

Covering the skies completely, and forcefully turning day to night, was a sea of one-winged monkeys that swarmed the Red Ape Beast General with relentlessness.

Not caring if they lived, or died, each one-winged monkey locked onto varying areas of the Beast General’s body, clawing away at its flesh, biting, slashing, and even driving their wings into the Red Ape.

Individually, they were weak.

But the most accurate description would be that of the bee.

Assuming one is not allergic to bee stings, a single bee would typically leave just a small bump after its stinger pierces human skin. But when a person faces multiple bees... tens of them, then hundreds, and eventually thousands...

Imagine a thousand bees swarming you. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The Red Ape faced a similar situation.

Truthfully, more Beast Generals could handle a thousand one-winged monkeys than those who could not.

More than that, the Red Ape was quite capable of defeating some of these Beast Generals even though they would be fairing much better in its current position.

It all came down to its strength-related principle.

Rather than enhancing physical capabilities, if it had a more mystical principle that allowed for wide-range attacks, it would undoubtedly fare better against the swarm of monkeys.

Too bad, it did not.

And still, this was a Beast General.

In human terms, Beast Generals were comparable to some stellar fighters who resided in the third world.

There were five worlds.

Then the transcendent over worlds; Otherworldly Knights.

The higher the world, the more ridiculous one’s strength became.

The strength of humans in the first two worlds compared to the last two was so drastically different.

It was akin to comparing the random rubble and debris across the earth to the starry cosmic sky.

Separating the first two and last two worlds, the third world was akin to a barrier.

Separating ordinary and magnificent!

Those of the third world were extraordinary and had grasped hold of great power.

Even the simplest power was beyond normal comprehension.

Bolan rested atop a tree branch more than three hundred meters away, observing the confrontation. More so, his eyes occasionally drifted to the leftmost area of the open field.

There, not even large, there was a pool, or more accurately, a small crater. Within, there was a bubbling pool of black liquid that released ripples into the surroundings which were visible to the naked eye.

Whether it was these ripples or not, every time he glimpsed at the pool, Bolan became slightly dizzy. This caused him to only glance at it for short periods of time.

’It seems as if the monkey horde is after that.’ He thought.

Glancing at the towering figure of the Beast General, he deduced, ’But why would this big man go through such lengths to defend it?’

’Anyway, every time I glance at that pool, the intensity of this Sky-grade item increases greatly. Clearly it desires whatever that is. But with a Beast General as its guardian, and the monkey horde’s presence, what can I do?’

Bolan sighed defeatedly.

Obviously, the best thing that could occur, was the death of both parties.

But, whilst the Beast General seemed to be reaching its limits, the swarm of one-winged monkeys still had many one-winged monkeys that recklessly attempted to swallow the Red Ape.

There almost seemed to be no end to them!

And yet, just then, the aura that surrounded the Red Ape abruptly intensified.

’Huh?’

Behind its massive mountainous body, a great deal of stellar cosmic energy gathered. Immediately, a mountainous pressure pressed down on Bolan’s shoulders.

There, an illusory apparition resembling the Red Ape’s upper body materialized!

The manifestation was similar in appearance, having red fur and red eyes, but it had four arms and two heads. Thereafter, as the Red Ape swiped its arm, surrounding its massive forearm, what occurred could only be described as an invisible glass suddenly forming cracks.

The world itself seemed to struggle under the pressure and force of this forearm. A powerful shockwave exploded outward, decimating everything within a twenty-meter radius of the Beast General.

The nearby hundred meters were devastated by a powerful shockwave that instantly killed more than half of the one-winged monkeys, sending the rest crashing to the ground.

Beyond that, the aftershocks of the shockwave rippled through hundreds of meters, reaching miles into the Blood-Drip Jungle that surrounded the open field.

Most of the monkeys that crashed into the earth died upon impact. And even if there were few that survived, they would soon die from the injuries which they sustained.

At the same time, the apparition dispersed into stellar cosmic energy which then permeated the air for a while, adding to the heavy feeling.

Thereafter, the stellar cosmic energies began seeping into the body of the injured Red Ape. Said Beast General slowly stooped before crashing into the earth with a loud boom.

Bolan stood up, his expressionless face shattered, now filled with disbelief.

Is it... dead?

’Is my fortune so good?!’ He exclaimed inwardly. But the sudden yet obnoxiously loud snores that followed poured cold water onto such useless thoughts.
