Chapter 223: Otherworldly Ascension (2/5)

Really, it had only been a few hours.

Jacob had recently entered the third world, and the duo were returning to the core city without many obstacles in the Blood-Drip Jungle.

"Hahahahaha! What did I tell you, he’s back, he’s back...!"

The miniature humanoid on Felix’s shoulder began shouting like a madman.

Numerous beasts were alerted; however, a domain of golden lightning completely suppressed the miles encompassing them.

Jacob’s eyes burst forth with a sudden golden blaze of crackling lightning. He clenched his fists and his body trembled with excitement, or relief...

Releasing a deep sigh of relief, Felix glanced at the dimensional core that danced in the air and jokingly asked, "Uncle master, didn’t you say Anon is the Human Lord’s son? Even if that other dimension was dangerous, with such a backing, wouldn’t he be safe?"

The miniature body of the lightning-reckoning orb froze up the moment he heard Felix’s words.

For a time, he did not know how to explain...

Beep~

Raising a brow, both Jacob and Felix looked toward the unassumingly indestructible bracelets attached to their arms.

This thing was made from a mysterious material or substance. Even upon being destroyed, at some point, it would’ve reappeared on their arms.

"Highest level notice: Attention all military personnel, you are asked to return to the military academy within three days. Further information will be provided upon your arrival. Attendance is mandatory. All those who fail to comply will face disciplinary action and may be subjected to the highest level punishment protocol."

Jacob furrowed his brows whilst Felix blurted out in shock, "Highest level punishment protocol?"

"Isn’t that complete banishment from the Victorious Fighting Country? That’s literally no different than a death sentence! No one can give such an order, unless..."

As Felix’s words fell, Jacob instinctively met the dimensional core’s gaze.

In a cautious voice, he asked, "You think..."

The miniature humanoid figure nodded, not even waiting for Jacob to finish his words.

.....

"I had an idea that there was an unspeakable relation between them, but to think that the little brat... no, the young lord."

Veerabhadran Rao sat in a seiza position, sipping on a cup of tea. The dean’s office was an expansive hall with several pillars that had purple dragons scaling upwards.

He sat in silence, his eyes flickering with emotions and unknown thoughts.

.....

A young man was sitting in a wheelchair near a bus stop. Though on more than one occasion, individuals would pass by, he seemed detached from the world, invisible to the mortal eye.

He observed a particular direction, his gaze spanning vast distances, and observing the two stellar geniuses and the miniature humanoid.

The dimensional core also returned a gaze in greeting.

"Those related to him are unusual. There is Felix, who has me behind him, and there is this Jacob, now a destined lord."

"Hehe, at least, you have to be lucky not to be killed by him in the first place."

Chuckling darkly, his eyes flashed with amusement.

"Looking back, isn’t it laughable. Even if he had killed my brother, what could I, a mere Otherworldly Knight, accomplish?"

"The son of the Human Lord, the young lord, my young lord..." muttering this, his expressions were contorted unnaturally.

It was unknown whether he disliked referring to Anon as this or not.

"Since you did not harm my little brother even with the freedom of mind and any repercussion as well, then I’ll also extend my hand, at least, if you truly do ascend."

A second world spirit succeeding ascension?

Innumerable lifeforms across the universe had been designed specifically for achieving this, and the number to’ve succeeded...

0.

But the Human Lord had boasted...!

.....

Sitting on a rocking chair residing on a porch, a beautiful lady silently read over a fairly large textbook with a solemn expression.

She had long, dusky hair that fell softly around her face, with some strands framing her features.

Over the months gone by, her eyes had grown sharper and more expressive, radiating a sense of intensity, highlighted by long eyelashes.

Her eyebrows were well-defined, adding to her stern expression. She had a fair complexion and wore a simple white shirt.

Yawning, she retracted her gaze from the book in her hands and glanced at the time on her watch.

Releasing a deep sigh, she retreated into the lonesome house and stepped into the living room.

The television soon began to play, and therein, she saw a familiar figure. Though familiar, he was completely a stranger as well.

Heh...

At such a contradiction, she could really only smile dispiritedly.

Her eyes flickered with emotion, remembering promises of a time when the world was still radiant and colorful.

But haunting words slammed against her psyche, shattering any delusional hope.

There was no hatred in her eyes toward this figure. Like he had said, this was a matter of simply not being capable of understanding the other.

Now, seeing this figure on the television, she completely understood that she had a very surface-level understanding of him in the first place.

The young man on the television screen was even more breathtaking than she remembered, even more perfect; however, even if others did not see, she saw.

Those eyes revealed a stranger’s identity.

This was absolutely not the person she had grown fond of. This was someone, or something, that did not even appear to be alive.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I wish you a blessed day, because this is a blessed day for all of humanity, and us earthlings. It is the day the son of the Supreme Commander, it is the day that our young commander ascends beyond the worlds."

Ahem~

"For those yet to be up to date, you can refer to other media outlets currently live to grasp the Human Lord’s declaration exactly three days prior. The otherworldly ascension of the young lord has been explained in detail..."

On the television screen, there was the image of a young man dressed in a red jumpsuit and adorned with gauntlets inlaid with crimson gem-like ornaments.

His hands rested on the hilts of twin blades, with his fingers rhythmically tapping on them.

The sound it released traversed the entire Heaven’s Edge Domain, the scenic, almost heavenly location of the young lord’s otherworldly ascension.

The scene panned out and became a small box on the screen as two male commentators excitedly voiced their opinions.

"You can practically sense the confidence palpating from his figure."

"I’d expect nothing less from the Supreme Commander’s son. The real question is, where has he been for the past nineteen or so years...?"

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

"Now’s not the time for such interesting... I mean, scandalous rumors. Rather, it is said that the Supreme Commander, with the assistance of the Paradisical City Lord, built a colosseum around the Lost Lands, Heaven’s Edge Domain; however, I don’t see it."

"Hehe, rumor has it that it’s solely for members of the Victorious Fighting Army and the legendary Otherworldly Knights. With such powers at play, it’s no wonder we can’t see anything even with our technology."

"Johnny, I never thought I’d say this, but you have a point. In fact, it’s already our luck that, due to the power of the Paradisical City Lord, we can follow the battle about to take place. Sadly, there will be a three-second delay compared to real-time action going on across the Lost Lands."

"Hey, are you calling me stupid?"

"No, no, of course not. I wouldn’t dare... you’re my special..."

The two began ranting, easing the audience with a humorous conversation whilst filling them in with the necessary information.

No matter how she tried, Elizabeth could not find it within herself to laugh along with the commentators.

Unknowingly, she had crawled closer to the television, straining her mortal eyes to see into the small scene on the screen.

That youth, standing in the river without a care in the world.

Carefree and unbothered...

In her eyes, he appeared bound by chains with a haunting loneliness encompassing him.

"I-I opened my mind’s eye just like I promised you, so why don’t you come back to me? They don’t see it, but I can. I’m the only one that can..."

"You and I are the same, aren’t we? I’m alone, and you are as well. Both of us..." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Aren’t I your little Liz?"

.....

Standing within the shin height river’s water, Anon’s head fell back. His serene expression showed the utter calmness in his bones.

Looking at the skies that had a purple haze to them, he inhaled the air of Heaven’s Edge Domain.

’In a flash, three days have passed.’

’Here I am, about to face a fricking otherworldly creature! What the hell is my father thinking?

In fact, he wasn’t really as calm as he appeared.

Some time earlier...

He sat on the celestial body drifting across the miniature universe.

Aegon sat by his side, and the duo held rods with strings attached, fishing in the boundless sea that was a miniature cosmic space.

What exactly they were fishing for was unknown.

"You didn’t really listen to the second choice, but I’ll let you know that you’ll be facing an otherworldly creature."

"Mm."

Gently nodding to Aegon’s words, Anon tilted his head and glanced.

???

Who’d have thought, after nurturing an unfathomable soul, his emotions would be much more chaotic than before grasping it?

Anon’s voice was somewhat stable as he stated, "I’m not going anywhere."

"You don’t have to."

He, Anon, was not given any choice.

His only choice was option one or two, and he had already decided on two.

Before he had realized when or how, he was already standing in the river that ran down the very middle of Heaven’s Edge Domain.

As he gazed up at the towering waterfalls, he perceived the existence of stellar fighters in the third, fourth, and fifth worlds.

They stood on the precipice of the many waterfalls, looking down on him, the young lord.

Frowning, Anon suddenly felt the urge to slaughter them...
