Myriad Devils-Chapter 218: Beyond Dimensions! (2/2)
The dimension had grown increasingly more desperate, concentrating more and more slaughterous energy into his soul.
This very act further accelerated the evolution of said soul.
This...?
Like gears clicking into place, Anon’s soul finally felt complete. A missing piece that he did not know was missing, appeared.
Anon jumped out of his worldly flesh.
The moment his soul escaped his body, Anon turned around and observed, seeing everything for the first time.
His fleshy body was akin to a life-like statue.
Standing twice his worldly body’s height, his spirit, built in his own likeness, was also present.
This spiritual body was wrapped and suppressed in chains of slaughterous energy.
Anon pinched his elusive chin and observed the six Empyreans that were also constrained within the flow of time.
These daemons...
Five times... four times... and even three times...
Anon instantly came to an understanding.
The size of the spirit represented its spiritual cultivation. He was only in the second world, so it was only twice the size of his worldly flesh.
Each spiritual body was suppressed in slaughterous chains, preventing a spirit from ever wielding power within this dimension.
Anon chuckled, but his chuckles were silent.
The very flow of time had come to an absolute halt.
Suddenly, from the very depths of his soul, deep within his subconscious, Anon felt an inclination, a desirable impulse to do something.
He closed his illusory eyes and grew still, spreading out his intangible arms.
Thereafter, he took a step.
This was but a single step; however, this step was unlike the step of a mortal existence. This was a step that transcended space and distance.
Leaving behind mortality, Anon jumped out of the time flow, stepping into a completely metaphysical realm.
He was on a riverbank within a blank domain.
The very nature of this riverbank was indescribable in nature.
While the main channel of the river flowed downstream like any other, its source simultaneously originated from the river’s mouth, creating an intriguing contradiction.
No matter how much Anon attempted to, he could not see the contents near the river’s mouth, which were, by their nature, filled in obscurity.
The river mouth held the contents of the future that could not be pried on even by the current Anon.
However, the main channel showed an interesting display.
Where he leaped out from was the present.
Time flow had come to a halt, or more accurately, he had transcended the time of a material dimension.
Rather than it coming to a halt, he was moving at such a theoretical speed that time flow could not keep up, making it appear as if time came to a halt.
Anon absorbed the scene before his eyes.
The river of time was incomparable to any other river of flowing water. This was an endless expanse that connected infinite space chains.
What was a space chain?
A single space chain can be thought of as an endless series of water droplets. Each droplet contains a space, and represents a specific moment in time of that space.
The only difference between the droplets was whether they represented the present or the past of that particular space.
In other words, each droplet captures a moment in time of that space, revealing what came before or what is happening now within the bounds of that space.
Once retracting one’s gaze, the infinite number of space chains would coalesce, assuming a whole or complete picture of the so-called river of time, showing the past and present, with only the future obscured.
This completed picture was akin to a flowing river.
Anon walked along the steep riverbank, observing the river of time.
Though the river’s width was as vast as the entire space of the inverted sky dimension, showing the past and present of each space, under Anon’s scrutiny, he easily located what he desired.
His gaze landed on the slaughter he had just participated in.
That one-sided slaughter.
Looking back at it all, Anon released a chuckle into the blank domain.
Should he express his thanks to the Infernal god for speeding up the process of his soul’s transformation?
Simply, it just went to show how frightening the Supreme Commander was. At least, if he had even manipulated the Infernal god’s actions, which sped up his soul’s transformation as well.
Anyway, Anon continued to walk.
He eventually reached the time of Empyrean Eclipse’s fall.
Anon’s eyes were indifferent.
He felt nothing toward this Empyrean.
There was no pity, nor was there disgust. This Empyrean was another insignificant individual who was pathetically ordinary.
If he had sought to use Anon as a whetstone, then Anon would’ve at least respected him. Anon would even remember him for the rest of eternity.
The only worthwhile one was that Knight back then.
Sigh~
That knight was dead.
Anon made his way to the battle with the apostle of apocalyptic death. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Hmm?
There was something strange.
Just as he was about to make his way toward the apostle, at the very climax of the battle, there was a gap across the entire river of time.
From one edge of the river of time, and across to the other side, there was one droplet in each of the innumerable space chains that was missing.
"This must have something to do with her suddenly disappearing."
"Hmm? Did apocalyptic death intervene... But, didn’t he say that this is his territory?"
"Is the relationship between apocalyptic death and the Infernal god, good?"
Anon only spent a moment to muse over this.
He continued walking alongside the river of time, observing past events unfold like shimmering reflections on the water’s surface.
The weight of his gaze fell heavily upon the scenes of his time spent with the Knight, memories of their battles etched vividly in his mind.
Though it was incomparable to his future battles, the spirit of that Knight remained within the depths of his heart.
Even if he was weak, he was worthy of praise.
Anon promised to keep him in his mind for the rest of eternity, so he observed these past events the longest amongst the many past events.
Finally, he arrived at his first battle, and soon after, at the scene where a young Anon stepped into the inverted sky dimension for the first time.
Seeing his young self, at that time, less than twenty years of life, Anon’s lips couldn’t help but curl upwards.
Laughing, he muttered with an unknown light flashing through his incorporeal eyes, "Look how cute you are."
Anon flicked his wrist towards a particular space bubble.
This was the spacetime showing the scenes where he first stepped into the dimension, and also the space that held a connection with the inverted cathedral.
Throwing a mark into the past, once returning to the present, it would be easy to return to earth.
Wait...
A thought suddenly struck him.
’Can I plunge into my past body?’ As he thought this, he shook his head, ’No, to do that, I’d need to destroy my past self’s soul. Who knows what complications would occur?’
His present self was without a soul.
Obviously, in this blank domain, if a foreign soul suddenly appeared and attempted to steal his body, he would easily sense it.
Once returning to the present, his body, which held a unique connection to his soul, would not necessarily be difficult to reacquire.
Especially since most of his power originated from his soul. Supreme mastery of the bladed path was also etched into his soul, and not his flesh.
After all, he entered the supreme realm with his soul.
Anon sighed.
He did not return to the present, but instead continued to track back the past.
How many years can a mortal existing at the pinnacle live for?
Anon saw it for himself.
Even Empyreans ran out of life.
Walking along the bank of the river of time, millions of years into the past unfolded before his deathly gaze.
Though it could be considered millions of years, it could also be considered no time at all.
Anon observed many Empyreans living their entire lives without ever nurturing a Primordial Cloud.
Even though they battled thousands of drifters, they could not nurture this elusive Primordial Cloud.
There was even an Empyrean that battled over a hundred Empyreans in his 129,600 years of life, and still failed to achieve salvation through slaughter.
Hmm?
Anon suddenly perceived another figure in the blank domain.
However, this figure was of the ancient past.
This figure...
A familiar head of white hair, with red ends...
They turned toward the obscure future, sensing a deathly gaze, yet unable to pierce through this obscurity.
Anon saw their identity and understood a little more.
Instead of exposing himself, he decided that this was enough. In a single step, he returned to the present.
The mouth of future time was ever obscured.
Just as he was about to step into the space bubble of the present time, a strange, foreign, and at the same time, familiar gaze fell on him.
This gaze?
Anon frowned and looked toward the mouth of future time. Just as he turned his gaze, the obscured gaze retreated.
Sporting a strange grin, Anon returned to the material dimension, plunging back into his body.
Time flow returned to normal.
He looked toward a particular distance, where a mark had been left in the past, and stepped toward it.
His soul cloud?
There was none.
Everything was devoured.
The six Empyreans?
Too insignificant to care about.
Anon did not so much as spare a glance toward these nonentities.
"Inverted sky world, material dimensions, I’ve really come far. This world is like paper... incredibly flimsy and unable to stop me."
"Inverted cathedral, the purest incarnation, Seth Constantin, your favorite destined child is back."
