My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 236 - 230: Saving Someone?
Both of them froze.
Aurora Sinclair immediately pushed him, trying to slip away to the side.
But Alvin Morgan grabbed her arm, pulling her back into his embrace and pressing her against the wall. He whispered close to her ear, "Did you hear that?"
Aurora Sinclair felt like a furnace, burning from the inside out. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and she lowered her head, remaining silent.
"It’s beating for you."
"I lied last time. Saying you were mine wasn’t just a convenient excuse. It was what I truly felt."
"It’s okay if you can’t get married. I’ll wait for you, for the day you can set aside all your responsibilities and be free."
"Aurora, I’m getting in line early. Your first choice has to be me. Okay?"
His voice was like a spring breeze, flowing into her ears and straight to the bottom of her heart.
The layer of ice in her heart that walled her off from the world seemed to shatter with a CRACK.
She clutched his clothes, buried her face in his chest, and said in a muffled voice, "My master said that if I get into fewer fights, I should live to be at least 250 years old, barring any accidents..."
"..."
Alvin Morgan froze for a moment, then broke into a laugh.
Aurora Sinclair’s heart was pounding. After she spoke, Alvin Morgan didn’t respond for a long moment, and she couldn’t help but look up at him.
She saw him looking at her with a complicated expression. Her heart tightened, and she said in a low voice, "Actually... it doesn’t have to be that long..."
Alvin Morgan raised a hand to lift her chin and replied with a smile, "I was just pondering a question..." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"What... question?"
"How to use the power of technology to extend my lifespan to 260 years."

After the bald, one-eyed man and his group left, the two of them quietly slipped out of the study.
There was only one path from the study to the outside. Unexpectedly, just as they reached a corner, the bald, one-eyed man, who should have been long gone, suddenly reappeared with his men.
Aurora Sinclair’s expression changed drastically. She immediately pulled Alvin Morgan back, hiding around the corner.
It was too late to turn back now, as the corridor behind them was very long with nowhere to hide.
As the footsteps grew closer, Aurora Sinclair held her breath, her hand clenching into a fist that she slowly raised.
’The moment they round the corner, I’ll take them down in one blow.’
Suddenly, a familiar female voice rang out.
"One-Eye, what are you doing over here so late at night?"
The bald, one-eyed man immediately stopped, turned around, and said guiltily, "What else? I’m on patrol."
"Patrolling? In this empty courtyard?"
"I was just... missing the Lord. Since you’re here, I’ll be heading back..." The bald, one-eyed man seemed a bit afraid of her, backing away as he spoke.
As the footsteps gradually faded into the distance, Aurora Sinclair slowly lowered her hand.
The two of them let out a breath they hadn’t realized they were holding.
Alvin Morgan glanced at the full moon outside, reached out, and took her hand, interlacing their fingers.
"It’s cold out. Let me warm your hands."
The two of them slowly walked toward the exit, only to suddenly run into the female captain at the doorway.
"And where have you two been?"
The blush on Aurora Sinclair’s face vanished instantly. She took a step forward, shielding Alvin Morgan behind her, and watched the woman with a wary expression.
The female captain’s face was grim, and her "Power" began to rise. Aurora Sinclair clenched her fist again in response, but after staring at them for a moment, the captain’s "Power" suddenly dissipated.
She stated bluntly, "I know you’re from The Black Wolves."
Aurora Sinclair’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"As long as you retract the energy you put inside my brother’s body, I can help you hide your identities and get you out of The Eastern Highlands safely." As the female captain spoke, a hint of pleading entered her eyes.
She had seen the Lord inject energy into a subordinate who had made a mistake, nearly crippling him. Only after the Lord reabsorbed the energy did the man recover.
The Lord said that this was the power of a God—the power to give life and to take it away.
That was why, when she had recognized Aurora during the day, she hadn’t exposed her. She was hoping Aurora could save her brother.
Aurora Sinclair didn’t understand what she was saying and looked back at Alvin Morgan.
He slowly took a step forward and replied in Masovian, "We can..."
The female captain then led the two of them toward the underground laboratory from before. Inside one of the Nutrition Repair Chambers, they saw the man who was being tormented by the "Power," with barely an ounce of life left in him.
He had many needles stuck in his body, seemingly to keep him alive.
"Brother..." The female captain knelt beside the nutrition chamber, her face a mask of vulnerability.
"Lina..." The man managed to force out a single word, but his breathing was so weak it seemed like it could stop at any moment.
Aurora Sinclair had them lift him out of the Nutrition Repair Chamber and began to pull out the needles from his body.
Just then, Alvin Morgan suddenly said in Veridian, "Don’t heal him completely."
Aurora Sinclair paused for a moment, then began to press several major acupoints on his body. She forced the "Power" that had been lingering inside him toward his Energy Sea Acupoint, and with a heavy strike, she simultaneously drove another stream of "Power" into him.
The man immediately spat out a mouthful of blood and passed out.
"Brother..." The female captain’s face was a picture of horror as she turned and glared viciously at them.
But Alvin Morgan said flatly, "His body is too weak. Put him back in the Nutrition Repair Chamber to recuperate for a while. He’ll recover."
The female captain was skeptical but ordered her subordinates to carry her brother back into the Nutrition Repair Chamber.
Alvin Morgan pretended to confer with Aurora Sinclair, then said coolly to the female captain, "The meridians in his body are severely damaged. Over the next few days, we will help your brother nourish his meridians. Therefore, during this time, you must ensure our safety."
The female captain shot him a nasty look and didn’t agree immediately. "We’ll talk after my brother comes out."
Alvin Morgan gave a cold laugh and pulled Aurora Sinclair to sit down beside him.
Two hours later, the glass door of the Nutrition Repair Chamber opened. The female captain’s brother had opened his eyes, and his complexion was much healthier than before.
"Brother, how are you?" the female captain immediately rushed forward to ask.
The man slowly sat up and circulated the "Power" within his body. His eyes lit up. "That energy is gone."
A joyful expression appeared on the female captain’s face, and she excitedly asked him more questions.
"Ahem..." Alvin Morgan suddenly cleared his throat.
The smile on the female captain’s face faded slightly. She pointed at the two people nearby and said in a low voice, "Brother, they’re the ones who saved you."
The man turned his head and looked at them in disbelief. "This is..."
"I’ll explain later."
After they returned to the female captain’s quarters, she pointed directly at Aurora Sinclair and said, "She’s the one from The Black Wolves who injured you."
The man’s expression changed drastically. He clenched his fists tightly, his eyes filled with a dark fury.
But Alvin Morgan said coolly, "You’d better not try to circulate your energy. It won’t be easy to recover if your meridians snap."
The man gritted his teeth, glared at his sister, and roared, "I’d rather die—"
"Brother..." the female captain cried out in disapproval.
Alvin Morgan glanced at him and said coldly, "When it comes down to it, you were simply the less skilled fighter."
"You..."
"By the way, your Lord is already dead." Alvin Morgan, holding Aurora Sinclair’s hand, dropped another bombshell.
"What?" The man’s face was a mask of shock. He looked at Alvin in disbelief, then turned to his sister.
The female captain’s eyes instantly turned red. "The Lord led a group out to support The White Bears and Black Skull. He was hit by a shell from The White Bears. We don’t know if he’s alive or dead."
"How could that be?"
"There are no permanent friends, only permanent interests. Once The Eastern Highlands develops, it’s bound to demand a larger share of the profits. Naturally, The White Bears wouldn’t want to see that happen," Alvin Morgan replied calmly.
This man was one of the Lord’s trusted confidants. He seemed to have thought of something and didn’t deny Alvin’s words, but his expression remained grim as he stared at them.
Alvin Morgan continued, "Right now, The Eastern Highlands is without a Lord, and you all aren’t united. Internal conflict is inevitable, which would be very beneficial for The White Bears’ goal of weakening The Eastern Highlands’ strength."
At this point, the corner of his mouth suddenly curled up. "So, why don’t we cooperate?"
