My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 223 - 217: Black Wolf Mercenaries’ Base Camp
The Miner looked at the reply that finally came through on his phone. ’Shameless,’ he cursed under his breath, but his actions betrayed him as he sent back a cheeky OK emoji.
"Hang in there, men! The Black Wolf Mercenaries are almost here."
He’d originally thought the Oasis Pirates were just after Mine Number Seven. He never expected them to get so greedy they’d try to take his largest asset, the Pink Diamond Mine. That crossed a line.
So, he ordered an all-out attack on the Oasis Pirates, determined to reclaim both mines.
But the Chameleons from the Eastern Highlands were too powerful. They were practically fighting maniacs, routing his forces at every turn. It was clear they were about to suffer devastating losses.
His only option was to ask Black for help. Among the five major mercenary groups, his relationship with Black was relatively amicable. Aside from a dispute last year when they snatched a mine he had his eye on, there was no blood feud between them.
The moment he sent the message, the sound of rocket launchers suddenly erupted from behind the Oasis Pirates.
Damn, that was fast.
’Did I just get played?’
Black’s Black Wolf Mercenaries had the most intense firepower among the ten major powers of the Western Continent. No one knew where they got so many weapons. Not only was everything incredibly powerful, but it was all the latest model.
If he didn’t know Black had no interest in arms dealing, he would’ve assumed he was a weapons supplier for some major world power.
Meanwhile, the Oasis Pirates panicked the moment they saw the Black Wolf Flag. The Black Wolf Mercenaries were known for their ferocity in combat, and their firepower was especially overwhelming. The Pirates generally avoided direct conflict with The Black Wolves.
"Retreat!" The face of the Oasis Pirates’ leader, Black Skull, darkened. He suppressed his frustration and ordered his men to fall back.
A figure in a black cloak beside him glanced back at the Black Wolf Flag, then made a hand sign to Black Skull: "Are they that strong?"
Black Skull spat. "One of the strongest powers in the Western Continent. Their weapons are insane. Shit! Sooner or later, I’m gonna raid their entire armory."
Suddenly, they rushed toward the Black Wolf Flag at extreme speed, a dagger in each hand, looking to test their mettle against the Black Wolf Mercenaries.
Black Skull’s face turned green with fright. He roared for them to come back, but the two didn’t break stride.
When Aiden Morgan saw two Chameleons from the Eastern Highlands charging them, his expression hardened. He immediately grabbed a sniper rifle and took aim at one.
’He’d long heard that the Chameleons from the Eastern Highlands were incredibly skilled. This was the perfect chance to test them.’
With a loud CRACK, a bullet shot from the muzzle, flying straight for the Chameleon’s shoulder, but the target dodged it.
Aiden Morgan fired again in quick succession and finally hit one of the Chameleons.
The man staggered for a moment but didn’t slow down. He quickly reached their first line of defense, flicked his silver dagger, and plunged it into a mercenary’s shoulder.
"Focus fire!" Aiden Morgan roared.
He immediately dropped the sniper rifle, switched to a rocket launcher, hoisted it onto his shoulder, and took aim.
"Get back!"
The Chameleons’ expressions shifted, and they immediately fell back. The blast from Aiden Morgan’s rocket launcher was so powerful it nearly prevented their escape.
"Boss, should we give chase?"
"Let’s head back for now."
Aiden Morgan’s eyes narrowed, a dark glint flashing within them.
’Their speed is something else.’

The Black Wolf Mercenaries’ main base was located in Masovia’s second-largest oasis. The nation of Masovia had specifically granted this territory to them, as The Black Wolves were one of the three major Mercenary Corps officially allied with the state.
Aurora Sinclair was amazed as she looked at the clean streets and modern buildings within the oasis.
It was like a completely different world from the outside.
A convoy of off-road vehicles drove past, drawing the eyes of the people lining the streets, especially the women and children.
Their faces were wreathed in smiles as they pointed, their words indistinct, but they seemed thrilled to see the newcomers.
"Whoa, why are there women and children here?" Beta Morgan asked in astonishment.
One of the Black Wolf Mercenaries said proudly, "They’re all Masovian citizens. They moved here because they feel it’s safe."
"Alpha, you guys are amazing!" Beta Morgan’s eyes filled with admiration.
"But of course. Ever since we got here, this oasis has become one of the safest places in Masovia. The Masovian Royal Family even built a royal villa right next to our headquarters."
The Black Wolf Mercenary replied smugly, pointing to a white, dome-topped castle not far in the distance.
Beta Morgan was practically dying of envy.
Of the four brothers, he was the only one who had never been outside Veridia.
The Black Wolf Mercenaries’ main base was across from the castle, in a building that resembled a large club or hall.
Two white stone lions flanked the entrance. The main gate was shut tight, and the walls were fitted with the same smart security system as the one at the Morgan Residence.
The Black Wolf Mercenary in the lead vehicle lowered his window, allowing the facial recognition system at the gate to identify him. Only then did the large gate slowly swing open, revealing a team of armed Black Wolf Mercenaries who began inspecting the vehicles.
"Captain..."
"The Boss is here. Let them through—"
The mercenaries immediately snapped to attention, watching as the convoy entered the courtyard.
After they passed through two more gates, Beta Morgan gasped aloud at the sight before him.
"Holy shit! This is..."
Before them lay a massive lawn, and in the center of it stood an immense white castle.
The convoy slowly followed the road bordering the lawn. They passed numerous Black Wolf Mercenaries along the way, all of whom stood at attention and watched the vehicles pass with respectful gazes.
Alvin Morgan reached out and stroked Aurora Sinclair’s hair. "Do you like it here?"
Aurora Sinclair nodded.
"I’ll show you around later."
The car pulled up to the castle entrance, and someone immediately stepped forward to open the door for Alvin Morgan.
"Sir..."
The young man outside had a friendly, smiling face and fair skin. He was much more slightly built than the mercenaries standing nearby.
"Silas? What are you doing here?"
Silas Morgan gave a reserved smile. "Mr. Beta, I’m working under Alpha now."
Hearing this, Beta Morgan felt a pang of jealousy. Silas Morgan had just turned twenty, and his very first assignment was already working directly alongside Alpha.
"You must be Miss Aurora. I’m Silas Morgan. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you; I’ve heard so much about you."
Silas Morgan said with a smile, greeting Aurora Sinclair.
’He’d heard plenty of stories about her in the Morgan brothers’ group chat.’
’She was the girl the Boss cherished most, with an incredibly high Combat Power, and currently served as his personal bodyguard.’
Aurora Sinclair greeted him shyly and politely accepted the parasol he was holding.
"Sir, representatives from the Masovian Royal Family are here. They’re in the reception hall. Do you still wish to see them?"
Alvin Morgan’s brow furrowed slightly. Silas Morgan understood at once and immediately led the group on a detour toward the private quarters Alvin used to use.
After they passed through a corridor, the space suddenly opened up before them. There was even a fountain inside the castle.
Mercenaries passed by from time to time. Not all of them recognized Alvin Morgan, but every one of them knew Silas Morgan, who was leading the way.
"Xinner..."
Silas Morgan gave them a steady nod but didn’t introduce Alvin Morgan.
Just as they were about to step into an elevator, a pleasant female voice called out from behind them.
"Xinner, is Commander Alpha back yet?" Though she spoke Veridian, her voice carried a distinct foreign accent.
Aurora Sinclair turned to look and saw a woman in elaborate clothing approaching.
Her face was obscured by a veil, revealing only a pair of beautiful eyes. Her clothes were adorned with many glittering ornaments.
She wore numerous small silver bells on her wrists and ankles, which chimed melodically with every step.
An exotic fragrance wafted toward them.
Silas Morgan turned, smiled, and greeted her, "Princess Martha..."
