When he finished, Qian Xiaoli’s eyes widened with astonishment. Then, gripping both his hands firmly, she smiled with heartfelt gratitude.

"This… it’s truly incredible. Thank you, Feng Fan, for trusting me enough to tell me everything."

"While searching for a suitable dual cultivation technique, I came across this," Feng Fan said, retrieving a manual from his space ring and handing it to Qian Xiaoli. "I believe this technique perfectly complements your Extreme Yin Physique. Honestly, I doubt you’ll find anything better on the entire Red Pole."

Qian Xiaoli carefully examined the manual, her eyes widening in astonishment. "A Supreme-grade technique? What level is this?"

Feng Fan chuckled softly. "It’s above immortal."

A radiant smile spread across Qian Xiaoli’s face, her beauty glowing even brighter. "Thank you, Fan’er."

Feng Fan felt his cheeks warm as he returned her smile, albeit shyly. Her joy was almost overwhelming to witness. "Don’t mention it. From now on, we’re Dao partners, right?"

"Yes," Qian Xiaoli replied warmly, her gaze filled with affection.

"Uh, there’s something I need to tell you," Feng Fan began hesitantly. "Before coming here, I already liked someone. Her name is Xue Qiang—she came from Earth with me, and..."

Before he could finish, Qian Xiaoli leaned in and pressed her lips against his, silencing him with a kiss.

Feng Fan froze, stunned by the sudden gesture, unsure how to react.

After a brief moment, she pulled back, her expression tender. "Don’t be silly. I don’t mind. And I already know about her."

"Uh?! How do you know?" Feng Fan asked, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise.

’I was at the same restaurant as you when you went on a date with her…’ Qian Xiaoli thought, though she didn’t voice it.

Feng Fan, however, heard her thoughts loud and clear. ’Ah! What a crazy coincidence,’ he thought, taken aback. This was the first time he had learned of this through her inner thoughts. ’Doesn’t this mean she already knew me when we first met?’

"I saw you and her at the Crimson Moon Banquet Hall in Blueriver City," Qian Xiaoli admitted. "Sorry, I didn’t mention it before. I was actually a little interested in you back then." Discover more stories at novelbuddy

Feng Fan blinked, taken aback by the unexpected confession. "What were you doing in such a small city, so far away from the capital?"

Qian Xiaoli smiled faintly. "I enjoy going out to eat. The Crimson Moon Banquet Hall is the best restaurant in Blueriver City. While it doesn’t compare to the one we went to today, it was good enough for me to visit at least once."

Feng Fan looked at her with newfound curiosity. ’A foodie willing to travel all over the empire just for good food?’ he thought, a wry smile forming on his lips.

"Alright, I should head back to the sect now. We’ll see each other at the Young Generation Competition?" Feng Fan asked with a gentle smile.

Qian Xiaoli chuckled softly. "Definitely."

Leaning in, Feng Fan gave her a light kiss on the lips before turning to leave. Behind him, Qian Xiaoli twirled a strand of her hair between her fingers, a soft smile gracing her lips. "I’ll miss you," she murmured.

As he stepped out of the room, he found Elder Duan and Su Liqiu waiting a few meters away.

Feng Fan cupped his hands respectfully and bowed slightly. "Master, I’m ready."

Elder Duan nodded in approval. "Good. Take this with you," he said, handing over a polished jade stone, no larger than a few centimeters.

Feng Fan accepted it, examining the smooth surface with a puzzled expression. "What’s this?"

"A teleportation jade," Elder Duan explained. "If we’re ever in danger, use it. It’ll teleport you to a random location. I won’t be able to find you, so you’ll need to make your way back to the sect on your own."

Feng Fan’s eyes began to glisten with emotion. "Master… are you really willing to sacrifice yourself so your disciple can escape alive?"

A vein throbbed on Elder Duan’s forehead. "You brat! Are you in such a hurry to see me dead? Unless the attacker is at the Return to Void realm, I can easily escape back to the sect without you slowing me down!"

"Oh, I see. That’s good then," Feng Fan said with a sheepish smile.

’So, I’m a burden…’ he thought, sighing internally.

"Alright, we have no time to waste. It’s time for us to depart. Farewell, Sister Liqiu, and thank you for your hospitality," Elder Duan said, walking toward the exit and gesturing for Feng Fan to follow.

Feng Fan nodded respectfully. "Thank you for your kindness, mother-in-law. Until we meet again," he said, cupping his hands in a polite farewell before following Elder Duan out the door.

Su Liqiu nodded in response to their farewells.

After they left the mansion, Elder Duan quickly enveloped Feng Fan in his spiritual qi, and they departed the capital flying.

Inside the Blue Dragon Sect grounds.

"Sect Master, our spies in the capital have reported on Feng Fan, the one involved in Shi Fan’s death," a woman said, bowing slightly as she cupped her hands respectfully.

The man before her, with white hair, a beard, and an unnaturally youthful face, nodded thoughtfully.

"Hm. Send someone to bring him back alive. If that’s not possible, kill him. Zheng Huang has warned me that he’s too talented and cunning. He cannot be allowed to participate in the Young Generation Competition."

The woman hesitated before speaking again. "Sect Master, he’s accompanied by a Dao Seeking realm cultivator. Should we still proceed?"

The man’s eyes lit up with interest as he stroked his beard. "A Dao Seeking expert? Even better," he said, his tone laced with calculation. "Send two Dao Seeking realm elders. This way, if the boy dies, we can claim it was merely a clash between the older generation, and he was caught in the crossfire."

A sinister smile spread across his face as the woman bowed again and left to carry out his orders.
