My Vampire Wives Want My Blood!-Chapter 80- Words Of Gold And Silver
Chapter 80- Words Of Gold And Silver
"Huh?" Fiona seemingly snapped out of her daze and realized what he meant. She felt a wet sensation on her cheeks and then slowly extended her fingers to touch it. There, she felt the warm tears streaming down her face endlessly. She had started crying without noticing it, right in front of Elio of all people.
"What is happening? This is nothing. It’s just..." She muttered as she tried to wipe the tears away, but the tears didn’t want to stop at all; they kept streaming down as if they refused to obey her.
Her emotions were chaotic, and she felt lost. This was the first time in years that she cried and felt all these intense emotions clash within her. Sadness, regret, longing, and even a tad bit of happiness that someone had finally said the words she wished to hear her entire life.
Elio had told her what her heart and mind needed. Someone to reassure her that it was still there, that it won’t go away, that her memories were hers and they will live with her forever. Even though she felt the world was actively trying to erase them, she refused to forget, and she will never forget.
That was what created the current her. A very angry and cold person. Someone who doesn’t care about anything except to deliver justice and be the reason Vampires cease to exist completely.
"I’m... *Sniff*... I’m going now." She said as she turned around to try to escape. She felt incredibly embarrassed. This was the very first person to see her cry like this, and she didn’t know how to feel about it. She feared Elio might look at her differently after this, thinking she was weak or a crybaby.
However, shockingly, and in a moment where her mind was completely blank, Elio did something that she could’ve never imagined in a million years.
He approached her and wrapped his arms around her back, pulling her into a hug. A hug that made her freeze in place.
"I’m truly sorry, Fiona. I don’t know what kind of pain you went through, but it must’ve truly been hard. I am truly sorry." He said with a pained look on his face. Seeing the broken stare within her eyes, Elio felt his heart squeeze tightly.
He hated seeing her that way; he hated seeing her cry. Fiona was an icon, a strong and reliable person who carried the hope of people even when they weren’t aware of it. She had carried this burden from the moment she was born, and she never complained or gave up.
How can he accept seeing such a wonderful person broken and sad? His instinct kicked in, and his mind stopped working. In no way would Elio usually dare to even touch Fiona, let alone hug her so intimately.
But, at that moment, none of that mattered; the girl clearly needed him, and he wasn’t going to just ignore it.
"I wish I could ease your pain in some way, but I’m far too weak. I’m not able to do anything." He said.
Fiona’s wide eyes closed slowly as she exhaled. For some reason, Elio’s warmth calmed her heart down immediately, and she was able to organize some thoughts to reply.
"It’s not your fault... *Sniff* I am merely unable to move on. I’m pathetic."
"No, you’re not!" Elio squeezed harder. "You are the strongest person I have ever met. You are incredible. Pain doesn’t mean you’re weak, I don’t think so. It only shows that you have been carrying so much for so long. It only shows that you are capable of bearing the pain in silence."
His tone was filled with belief and honesty; every single word was coming from the depths of his heart, and so it all resonated deeply with Fiona. Each word pulls at her heartstrings, meticulously dismantling all her walls without any mercy.
It was as if Elio knew every word he needed to say to have the strongest effect on her, and it was working like pure magic.
"I’m not strong... I’m just... I’m just good at pretending."
"I don’t think anyone else in this world could’ve handled what you have handled," Elio said.
Fiona slowly closed her eyes as she lifted her hand slightly, hesitating to put it on Elio’s back. She was hurting deep within, and this hug, as odd as it was, made her feel so much better. Like someone sees the burden she was carrying, that someone appreciates her efforts. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
That kind of warmth, she hadn’t felt it since that day.
"Elio... Why? Why do you all of this? I’m giving you an opportunity that will benefit me. I’m just doing what would benefit me in the end. I didn’t do it for you. I did it for myself. So why are you doing all of this for me? I’m using you." She said, trying to fight the tears.
The boy slowly pulled away and looked at her. "Because you saved me... You saved my life from obscurity... From complete loss. Before meeting you, I had no future; I was just fighting every day to survive, knowing I was going to live a miserable and lonely life."
"..."
"When I said that you are not happy, that is because I know what kind of life we’re living. It’s tasteless, lonely, and yet addicting at the same time because it makes us think we will be fine no matter what. But... If there is one thing the past week taught me, it’s that we can’t just keep living for this. We have to live for ourselves, too."
"..." Fiona blinked slowly as she listened to Elio. She didn’t even realize that they were still awfully close.
"So, if you are living for that memory you cherish, then simply live for it. Don’t kill yourself over it; that person you remember would probably wish for you to live a good life. They wouldn’t be happy to see you lose your spark because of them."
Her eyes flashed with a strong glint, as if she immediately recalled something. A particular thing she heard a long time ago that stayed with her. Yet, her anger and hatred made her put it in the back of her head.
Fiona had forgotten... and only then did she remember. The wish of that person and their words to her.
