Chapter 54- Limit (Part 3)

Inner peace.

That term was something Elio had never known before. It was merely a vague thought he heard before being promoted by companies to sell their products. Peace, quiet, calm, these were all terms he basically never understood.

For him, life was a constant struggle that didn’t stop. His only peace in it was sleep, and even that wasn’t that helpful with all the nightmares he suffered for so many years. He was constantly on the edge, constantly fighting something, and constantly tense to the point where he only realizes that when he lies down on the bed.

The very first time Elio felt that peace was in the least place he expected to... Under the ravaging current of a waterfall, when he is getting crushed by its natural forces. That was where he surprisingly felt his head clear up.

Even though his body was battling the water current, his mind found an inner state so quiet that the entire world around him became a merely black background. He found himself alone, with his own thoughts and feelings, completely detached from worries and fear.

He felt his Blood Energy working its miracles, changing and morphing him gradually. Time blended quickly into itself, becoming a mere secondary thought. He didn’t even know how much time had passed ever since he stepped under the waterfall. He didn’t even feel cold or wet anymore; he just floated in his world as he kept cultivating his energy.

Each passing second, his focus submerged him deeper as he felt his body gaining power.

The notifications kept rolling in as the time passed. Elio didn’t realize that he was gaining strength rapidly and his stats were changing by the minute. When he started this training, he had rather regular stats.

However, all it took was four hours for him to undergo a complete change. His Blood Energy was hungry for evolution, constantly improving and becoming more efficient in strengthening his physical body. Fiona didn’t notice it and neither did Elio, but his energy wasn’t merely listening to him and rather doing what it sees would benefit him too, without him knowing.

It knows what to do, and with each passing second, its knowledge of his body and strength grew and grew and grew... AND GREW.

The morning passed, and the afternoon welcomed them as the sun finally peeked at Elio through the trees.

At that moment, Fiona finally closed the book that she was reading and stood up. Staring at Elio, she realized that he hadn’t moved a single inch for several hours now. His aura has grown quite a bit in that time, and she could even see it visibly.

’His aura has increased by at least 5-10% in several hours... Monstrous growth.’ She pursed her lips before she decided to end the training for now. Elio needed to have lunch before continuing.

So, Fiona simply approached him on the other side, and then she gently pulled Elio from under the stream. The boy was still completely unaware of what she did. However, when she snapped her finger next to his ear and said his name, Elio’s eyes slowly opened.

"Welcome back." She said.

The boy blinked before he looked at her. His face was dripping with water, and his skin was glistening. His looks had also improved a bit more during that time.

"... It’s over?" He asked.

"Yeah, it’s time for lunch. You’ve had enough for now."

Elio looked at his own body as he felt the quiet strength coursing through his body. "It worked..."

"Exceptionally well," Fiona added. "Your power has increased by at least 5%. That is far more than what anyone could achieve without certain boosts and techniques. Very incredible, Elio."

"Haha, thank you..." Rubbing his head, Elio nodded. "Rrrrr, now that I’m out... I’m so cold."

"Here. Dry yourself." Fiona said as she gave him a towel she brought with her. After drying himself, he put on his shirt, and the two started heading back to the cabin.

"I feel like I was completely out of it for the past few hours. What was that?"

"You entered a deep focus state. In that state, your mind completely concentrates its efforts on circulating the energy. That increases efficiency and learning speed a lot, and since you already have an extremely fast learning speed, this only further pushes you." She said. "You could check your status sheet to see for yourself."

"Yeah, now that you mention it, I have received so many alerts."

Just a mere glance at the progress, Elio realized how truly ridiculous this training method was.

"S-So many points! I got so many points!" He blurted out. "This is amazing, Fiona!"

Watching the boy’s excited smile, Fiona was rather taken aback. His joy was so innocent and pure that it made her quite confused. His eyes were shining brightly, and his grin was blinding, to say the least.

’What is wrong with me?’ She shook her head.

"Great. We will see how much more you will gain in the next two days. We should be able to take a huge step forward. Who knows, if it works out well, then we can come here every weekend to train."

"That would be so amazing! I think I can learn a lot!"

Finally, the two made it back to the cabin. Elio headed to take a shower while Fiona made a quick lunch for them. The two ate together and chatted casually about all kinds of things.

Elio hadn’t noticed it before, but talking to Fiona was a very pleasant experience. Even though she seemed to be a very strict and cold person on the surface, she was actually quite nice and calm. He didn’t know if it was just him, but he found her to be so fun to be around.

The food was also exceptional, and due to his hunger, Elio devoured it all. After that, Fiona asked him to sit in the living room, and then she walked away for a while.

"Hm? Where did she go?" Elio muttered as he sat there, staring around the room curiously. A few minutes later, Fiona walked back into the room and in her hands was a long stack of thick books towering above her.

*BANG*

Putting the books on the table, it shook the entire house. She then dusted her hands and looked at Elio.

"We will be starting your theoretical studies."

"Theoretical?"

"Yes, as I said before, the test you will undergo is practical and theoretical. Both are equally important in granting you the license. You will be learning about Blood Energy theory, Rune theory, and the fundamentals of Vampire anatomy."

"..."

’What are even these things?!’ Elio blinked. They sounded like some sort of advanced subject he would study in college. He didn’t even know there were so many complex topics like this to study and learn.

"So, we will start by reading these books." Then Fiona pointed at the large stack.
