My System Forces Me to Live off Women-Chapter 56 - 54: Let’s Go Get Remarried!
"The ice is here!"
Li Peifeng sprinted all the way, explained the situation to the supermarket owner, bought a few ice creams, scraped some crushed ice off the freezer, mixed them with the ice creams into a bag, and then dashed back to the terminal stairs.
Covering almost a kilometer back and forth, plus the shopping, he completed everything in less than five minutes.
Finally, panting heavily, Li Peifeng returned to Zhao Qingge, placed the bag of crushed ice and ice cream against her injured ankle, and gently massaged it.
"How does that feel?"
"Hmm, much better." Zhao Qingge nodded softly. "Thank you for the trouble."
"No need to be so polite with me."
Li Peifeng sighed in relief but worriedly added, "But with your foot like this, we can’t go to Wuzhen today... How about you come with me? By Sunday, your foot should be better, and then we can start our trip."
Zhao Qingge frowned in thought for a few seconds before reluctantly nodding, "That’s the plan then."
Huang Tianxuan, who had been silent, finally spoke up, "Can Professor Zhao still walk? My car is a few hundred meters away."
"Let me try."
Zhao Qingge glanced at her and tried to stand up. Li Peifeng immediately supported her arm, but once she was up, Zhao Qingge winced in pain, "It still hurts somewhat."
"Take it slow!"
With Li Peifeng’s help, Zhao Qingge held onto the stone railing with her right hand and attempted to walk down the steps, but her movements were awkward and her pace very slow.
"That won’t do."
Li Peifeng felt that helping her like this wasn’t effective, so he suggested, "How about I just carry you?"
"No need!"
Zhao Qingge immediately shook her head, "I can walk, just slowly."
"Come on, it’ll be quicker if I carry you."
Li Peifeng swiftly moved their suitcases to the bottom of the stairs, then ran back up to Zhao Qingge’s step, slightly bent over with his back to her, and urged, "It’s several hundred meters, and if you walk it might worsen your injury and be slow. I can get us there in a minute or two."
"Just leave me be."
Zhao Qingge pushed against Li Peifeng’s back, refusing, "You go on ahead."
Hearing this, Li Peifeng seemed to recall something, paused for half a second, then inexplicably got a bit angry. With a determined look, he stepped forward onto a step...
"What are you doing?"
Silently, Li Peifeng reached out, wrapped a right arm around Zhao Qingge’s neck, bent down, used his left arm to scoop her legs, and then straightened up, hoisting his mentor up into his arms.
"Li Peifeng!" Zhao Qingge cried out in dismay, "Put me down now!"
Her body was fragrant, soft, and inviting... to hold!
Ignoring Zhao Qingge’s protests, Li Peifeng turned back and instructed, "Tianxuan, could you help with the luggage? There are wheels, you can easily pull them along."
"Okay."
Huang Tianxuan gave a complicated look but responded, then ran down the stairs to extend the handles of the two suitcases, saying loudly, "Follow me, the car’s over there."
"Have you gone mad?!"
In Li Peifeng’s arms, Zhao Qingge crossed her arms, her face darkened, "If you keep this up, I will really get angry!"
Li Peifeng began stepping down, eyes fixed on the path ahead, speaking disjointedly, "On the journey from the land of ruins to Clarence Magic Academy, you suddenly fell ill, and I carried you over three thousand miles..."
"Why are you saying all this?!"
Zhao Qingge’s tone was authoritative and indignant, "Didn’t I tell you that was just a dream? Not even a single mile, let alone three thousand! Put me down immediately!"
She wanted to struggle but feared falling, while Li Peifeng held on tighter, sighing lightly, "Back then, you were still my teacher and I was still your student, even after we enrolled and became classmates, we maintained the teacher-student dynamic."
Zhao Qingge impatiently asked, "What are you trying to say?"
Li Peifeng earnestly stated, "I mean, we survived and stuck together for so long without crossing any lines. Now that you’ve sprained an ankle, what’s the big deal if I carry you a few hundred meters? The sky won’t fall down, will it?"
"That was a dream, don’t bring it up again!"
With eyes downcast, Zhao Qingge spoke and ceased struggling, rejecting no further.
Meanwhile, Li Peifeng continued onward, and together they left the stairs, moving onto the flat path.
"Peifeng, you must work out often, right? Such strength!"
Huang Tianxuan turned her gaze with concern, complimentarily saying, "Even managing to carry your mentor like that?"
"Somewhat."
Li Peifeng was indeed pushing himself, as everyone knew, carrying was far more strenuous than piggybacking.
Piggybacking mainly uses the legs and waist, the body’s most muscular areas, naturally strongest.
But carrying requires more arm strength, as the person’s entire weight is supported by the arms.
Arms can’t compare to legs; they’re far weaker.
Moreover, if the carried person doesn’t wrap their arms around the carrier’s neck, additional effort is needed to stabilize them, making it easy for them to fall.
"Could you hold onto me a bit?"
Uncertain of the remaining distance to Huang Tianxuan’s car, Li Peifeng felt his arms growing numb and, coupled with the unfamiliar warmth of Hangzhou’s climate, fine beads of sweat formed on his forehead: "Without holding on, you might fall, and it’s harder for me to exert strength."
"Yeah, exactly."
Huang Tianxuan added helpfully, "Professor Zhao, hold onto your student’s neck, or it’ll be hard for him to carry you."
The tone of Hangzhou girls was lovely indeed, soft and melodious, naturally gentle... but not speaking would be better!
Do I need you to remind me he’s my student? Do I need you to remind me I’m his mentor?!!
Zhao Qingge narrowed her eyes and let out a barely audible sigh, laying her hands on Li Peifeng’s neck, softly saying, "Peifeng, hurry up. I’m tired."
"Okay."
Hearing this familiar yet unfamiliar address, Li Peifeng’s heart fluttered, instinctively pulling Zhao Qingge closer as he quickened his pace slightly, even surpassing Huang Tianxuan just a tad.
"Ha? What kind of mentor is this? Is this a legitimate mentor?"
Huang Tianxuan watched this scene, smirked slightly, saying nothing.
Although the previous conversation with Zhao Qingge wasn’t very smooth and barely a few sentences were exchanged, at least she had clarified which school and department Li Peifeng was from and their relationship...
"A Beihua University professor from the School of Arts and Sciences? Really?"
"Looks dignified on the surface, but actually an actor, scheming to seduce students?!!"
"’Yi Liang Feng’ is quite pitiful, caught with such a mentor, surely dealing with endless harassment, enduring unwanted advances. Yet he doesn’t dare resist, as that drama queen controls his graduation fate!"
Internally sighing, Huang Tianxuan pondered how to help free him from Zhao Qingge’s clutches...
The parking lot was fairly busy, with people just getting out of cars, starting to pack their luggage to board flights.
Others, like them, just disembarked and were being picked up by family and friends, ready to load luggage into cars and head home.
In front of an Alphard minivan, a family of four was chatting with friends and family, leisurely loading items into the vehicle. A man in his thirties spotted Li Peifeng and the others.
Seeing Li Peifeng holding Zhao Qingge intimately, the man’s cigarette slipped from his hand, and he burst into laughter, heading directly toward them...
"Don’t come over!!!"
Li Peifeng also spotted him, inside almost breaking down, silently wishing ’don’t come over, don’t come over,’ but it didn’t stop the man’s approach.
"Ha ha! Younger Brother Li, impressive!"
Sun Dabao gave a thumbs-up, praising, "Didn’t think you managed to convince your ex-wife to reunite right after landing!"
Expressionless, Li Peifeng briskly walked past, pretending he didn’t exist.
Zhao Qingge even closed her eyes, tightening her grip around his neck, so much so that her thumb’s pressure was more of a firm, almost pinching action...
Huang Tianxuan observed the two groups, feeling bewildered; was that man greeting Li Peifeng?
"Eh? Brother, are you guys rushing to the civil affairs office to remarry?"
Sun Dabao seemed puzzled, but chuckled amiably at their retreating figures: "Wishing Younger Brother Li and Professor Zhao a happy reunion and everlasting love!"
"_(゚Д゚)ノ!!"
Huang Tianxuan was startled, "Hey, um, Li Peifeng, was he calling you guys?"
"Who?" Li Peifeng questioned, puzzled, "Someone called us?"
"That man..."
"Don’t know him at all; let him bugger off!"
