My System Forces Me to Live off Women-Chapter 160 - 154: Supreme Beauty of the World
Dune is a movie adapted from a novel, and it's not just any novel.
As a must-read classic in the history of science fiction, Dune has been selected for numerous lists such as Amazon's "100 Books to Read in a Lifetime," BBC's "100 Best-Loved Books," and "The Top 100 Science Fiction and Fantasy Books." It's also the first work to win both the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award, and it claimed the title of "Best Science Fiction Novel of the 20th Century" by Track magazine.
Li Peifeng, this literary youth and sci-fi enthusiast, had read the novel long ago, not only in multiple translations but also in the original English version. However, possibly due to cultural barriers or because the novel was created 65 years ago, he wasn't very impressed with it.
First of all, Dune is not hard sci-fi, it's soft sci-fi.
From the plot perspective, it's essentially a medieval court intrigue story, and the palace fights and plot schemes in it, from the perspective of someone from Dong, are completely kindergarten level.
The reason it might be popular is that it appeared early, with many pioneering plot elements. Author Frank Herbert discussed politics and religion in the novel. At least it has literary value, so Li Peifeng held certain expectations for the movie version of Dune.
Therefore, in the first ten minutes of the movie, Mr. Li was genuinely watching the movie seriously. As for after ten minutes, he took a big sip of his drink and vigorously shook his head...
"Can't watch anymore, if I continue, I'll fall asleep!"
Zhao Qingge might have felt the same, even yawning slightly.
Li Peifeng seized the opportunity to start a conversation: "Do you think this movie is good?"
"It's average."
Zhao Qingge propped her chin up with her hand and asked, "What time is it?"
"Let me check."
Li Peifeng took out his phone to check the time. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Eight fifty."
Zhao Qingge hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm going back. This movie is a hundred and fifty minutes, two and a half hours; if I finish watching it, it'll be too late."
Saying this, Zhao Qingge pretended to get up.
"No, just watch a little longer."
Li Peifeng hurriedly blocked the exit with his hand: "Just ten more minutes, and we can leave together."
"Why are you leaving? Just keep watching."
Zhao Qingge slightly frowned but still sat back down.
Li Peifeng sighed with relief in his heart and placed the tub of popcorn between them: "Would you like some?"
"No."
"It's very sweet, just have one piece."
Zhao Qingge inexplicably glanced at him, then reached into the popcorn tub to grab some popcorn.
At the same time, Li Peifeng also reached into the tub, not to grab popcorn, but to grab another hand!
Movie watching tips.
At this point, the tub of popcorn finally showed its real purpose.
In the dimly lit theater, everyone's eyes were fixed on the big screen in front, where the protagonist and a combat instructor wielded oddly shaped swords and halberds, engaging in hand-to-hand combat to learn martial arts.
Meanwhile, in the back row, Li Peifeng was having a hand-to-hand "battle" with his mentor inside the popcorn tub!
"You!"
Zhao Qingge was clearly startled, reacting strongly and escaping her hand from the popcorn tub.
In the movie, the protagonist and the instructor, after a brief struggle, separated and faced off.
"It's a close match."
Li Peifeng feigned calmness, as if commenting on the movie plot, while in his heart he was lamenting that Old Zhao had such a high alcohol tolerance; couldn't she just go with the flow?
"..."
Zhao Qingge warily glanced at the audience below, and even without seeing her expression, one could sense her unease.
"Everyone is watching the movie, nobody is looking back."
Li Peifeng softly reassured, "Even if they look back, they can't see us clearly. Even if they know it's the two of us sitting here, as long as we keep our hands down, they can't see us holding hands."
Zhao Qingge didn't reply, just crossed her arms in front of her chest, giving him no chance to hold hands!
Li Peifeng felt a bit discouraged, a little disheartened.
"Bang bang~"
The surround sound in the theater accurately played the sound of fighting, as the combat instructor suddenly admonished the distracted protagonist after pinning them down...
"Mood? What's mood to do with it? You fight when the necessity arises. No matter the mood. Now fight!"
("Mood? What's mood got to do with it? Fighting is because it's necessary! It has nothing to do with mood! Now, fight!")
"Now, fight!"
Li Peifeng was invigorated!
"How well said, I must also muster up the courage and fight with my mentor. I've learned literature from you before, now I also want to practice martial arts with you. My mentor must teach me everything, I want to be both scholarly and skilled, with a well-rounded development!"
Li Peifeng cheered himself on, finally lifting his left hand to gently drape it over the back of Zhao Qingge's chair, the latter still watching the screen as if she hadn't noticed his small movement.
Li Peifeng slid his hand down the chair, gently placing his entire arm on Zhao Qingge's body, his fingers spread to embrace her shoulder.
"Bang bang bang~"
At this moment, the movie's protagonist also collected themselves and continued sparring with the combat instructor.
"..."
Zhao Qingge frowned slightly, then leaned forward slightly before immediately leaning back, allowing the left hand on her body to slip to her back, pressed against the middle of the chair back, her eyes fixed on the screen, seemingly worried for the protagonist who was entirely on the defensive in the battle.
Li Peifeng, however, had no interest in the movie; all his attention was on his mentor.
In the movie, the protagonist was facing an opponent; he too had to concentrate fully on facing an opponent!
Searching for flaws...
Today Old Zhao was wearing a mid-length cashmere coat, light gray, with a small lapel design that was not ostentatious at all, transparent and graceful, with a same-color belt at the waist, but she didn't tie it, just left it open, revealing the white fitted undershirt inside, elegant and intellectual. Lightly stroking the coat's material, it felt extremely delicate.
Zhao Qingge sat in her chair, the open-slit design of the coat's hem partially covering her thighs, but in the dim light, Li Peifeng could see that she wore light blue skinny jeans, the type that wasn't loose, but rather form-fitting and slim, the material not coarse, likely relatively smooth and soft.
The skinny jeans perfectly displayed Zhao Qingge's long legs, complementing Old Zhao's leg curves, thin but not flabby, curvaceous but not bloated.
What is beauty? This is beauty.
The spring water by the Seine River, the roses of Bulgaria.
This is a beauty beyond all artworks of the world!
In comparison to such legs.
Even the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, pales in grace; the goddess of hunting, Diana, falls slightly short in allure.
These legs cleanse the soul, their allure is so profound that language fails to express even a fraction of it; just looking brings immense comfort, a gaze-locking comfort, and touching them should be even more...
Li Peifeng embraced Zhao Qingge with his left hand, while his right hand slowly reached toward the skinny jeans!
Touched them!
Even smoother than imagined! Even more streamlined!
Want to rub, want to squeeze, want to disrupt this perfect curve! Want to possess these beautiful legs of the world in his hands!
Li Peifeng suppressed his excited feelings, but couldn't stop the thoughts from flashing through his mind, the command instantly transmitted via nerves to his right hand's fingers, gently pressing down...
"Tap!"
Zhao Qingge promptly stamped her foot, her small high heel hitting the ground with a crisp sound, shaking off Li Peifeng's hand, but this sound was barely audible amidst the booming movie theater sound effects.
"Unruly student, what are you trying to do?" Zhao Qingge's gaze was even fiercer than the movie villain's.
Having done something mischievous, Li Peifeng felt guilty, but quickly placed his hand back on her leg, calmly saying, "I am subtly expressing my affection for you through body language."
Because of his honesty, it seemed less sleazy!
