Chapter 441: Chapter 441: She Can Sleep Just Fine Without Him

Jared Quinn squeezed the bridge of his nose with a slight tightness, his long fingers suddenly stopped, and he looked up. "Whose birthday?"

"The young madam’s," the butler answered crisply. "The old master said so himself, you wouldn’t not know, would you?"

Jared Quinn "..."

He thought about how that woman refused to come back with him, using herself as a bargaining chip, and his chest filled with discomfort. Leaving her with another man felt worse than cutting out his heart and living as a zombie.

"Young master, how about we use the old master or Timmy to bring the young madam back?" the butler suggested tentatively.

After all, if the old master found out the madam was gone, who knows what might happen!

"No need," Jared said as he stepped upstairs, each footstep unusually heavy.

The butler watched Jared Quinn’s back as he went upstairs, silently agreeing that the young master was wrong this time. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Jared entered his study, casually flipping open some documents, trying to calm himself and force Melody Thorne’s image out of his mind.

After an hour, the crystal ashtray was filled with cigarette butts. It wasn’t until his long fingertips were burnt that Jared snapped back to focus.

His mind was filled with the butler’s words. He had never spent a birthday with her before, and today in his rage, he had taken Stella Seymour and Caleb, making her use herself as a bargaining chip. Everything seemed to happen at once.

Jared’s self-control, which he always prided himself on, completely collapsed at this moment, and his body moved on its own as he grabbed his coat and headed downstairs to his car.

In just ten minutes, he sped all the way to Hans Montrose’s place.

When he arrived, Hans Montrose and Melody Thorne had just come downstairs, apparently about to drive somewhere.

They stopped at a cake shop, went inside, Melody Thorne focusing on selecting cakes while Hans followed silently behind her. Whatever she wanted to look at, he accompanied her, occasionally offering opinions, whether she liked them or not was entirely up to her.

Melody Thorne was smiling the whole time, sometimes pointing at a childish Barbie cake, sometimes at one covered in pearls and petals, occasionally asking for Hans’s opinion.

In the end, they bought the petal-covered cake and returned to the car.

They didn’t return to Hans Montrose’s place but went to another house instead.

Jared Quinn’s grip on the steering wheel was so tight he nearly crushed it, watching helplessly as the two bought a cake and some food and headed upstairs. The most glaring part was Melody Thorne’s laughter, laughing when others were by her side.

The lights on the fifth floor lit up, and the couple’s silhouettes appeared in the window like a punch to the gut. He saw the faint flicker of candlelight, the height of romance...

His rationality was being devoured, bit by bit.

As time passed, just when the last shred of reason was about to be stripped away, Hans Montrose came downstairs, driving away alone.

Not long after, the lights on the fifth floor went out too.

Could she sleep without him there, without him holding her?

And this place, what a dump! How can anyone live with such scrap metal?

Jared Quinn’s gaze was fixed on the window upstairs, wishing to grab her down immediately, hold her tight, and ravage her relentlessly!

But she had never smiled like that when she was with him.

Jared suppressed his raging anger, no longer knowing when he started to care about her every mood, whether she was happy or not.

She said she wanted freedom.
