Chapter 439: Chapter 439: What Are You Really Afraid Of?

Could it be that she’s totally disappointed in her young master?

Jared Quinn turned around, the flames burning in his eyes as if capable of incinerating everything.

"Go find her!"

"Yes."

At Hans Montrose’s place.

He had just returned from a trip abroad, and upon returning, he saw Melody Thorne angrily walking down the main road. She really looked quite pitiful, not knowing where her shoes had gone.

Melody Thorne sat quietly on the sofa, enduring Hans Montrose’s gaze. "I know I look really pitiful right now, and you’re seeing it too."

She originally intended to tell Jared she was going back for a bit, but before she managed to do that, he found out the information Caleb had sent her. Without letting her explain anything, he had Harold Chapman capture Caleb and locked her up.

"It is quite pitiful." Hans Montrose squatted down and grasped her ankle with a large hand, concealing his gaze.

He wondered where Melody would have gone if she hadn’t managed to bump into him today.

"Melody, don’t go back." Hans Montrose helped her slip on some slippers, speaking earnestly.

The last time he saw her she was happy, but this time he truly saw through it – it was all an illusion.

"I’ll go find Nina King later," Melody said.

She absolutely wouldn’t stay at Hans Montrose’s, fearing that if Jared found her here, he might capture Hans Montrose just like he did Caleb.

"Just stay here with me," Hans Montrose stood up. "Go wash your hands first. I’ve made something you like to eat."

Melody rose and after washing her hands, leaned on the kitchen door frame, arms crossed, watching as the man skillfully plated the dishes, appearing just like a good homemaker.

"Come, let’s eat," Hans Montrose brought the dishes out.

Melody followed, holding chopsticks in her mouth. The food Hans Montrose prepared looked really appetizing and indeed very appealing.

"Sit down and eat, you’re not a monkey," Hans Montrose pushed a chair behind her, as if taking care of a child.

Melody tasted a few bites, nodding repeatedly, praising, "Your cooking is really good; you’ve improved."

Hans Montrose chuckled, "Alright, let’s eat."

They dined by the window in the living room, where the view outside was splendid.

Outside, the window of a recently stopped black car rolled down, displaying everything happening by the window clearly, especially the man and woman dining there.

The man in the car was brimming with rage. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

When she disappeared, he had Harold Chapman search everywhere, but couldn’t find her. He thought of the name she mumbled in her sleep that day, and so he came, but this wasn’t what he wanted to see, definitely not.

Jared’s gaze almost pierced through the car window glass, like two glaring daggers, impossible to ignore.

Melody, as if by instinct, raised her head to look over, while Hans Montrose shifted slightly to block her view, confronting those two chilling glints himself.

"Focus on eating," Hans Montrose said.

"No, I have to leave," Melody put down the chopsticks; she couldn’t stay here any longer.

But she wouldn’t go back either.

Jared was too domineering, never considering any of her thoughts.

"Melody," Hans Montrose grabbed her by the arm, "what exactly are you afraid of?"
