Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Why Are You Pressing Me?

"Aunt, did I do something wrong? We are family, aren’t you supposed to support me?" Melody Thorne’s eyes were filled with grievance.

The gazes of the old master of the Quinn Family and Jared Quinn turned to Rosalyn Quinn, and it was obvious that the light in their eyes had turned a few degrees colder.

"No, no, how could I possibly mean that," Rosalyn Quinn said, seething with anger and gritting her teeth.

"Let Harold Chapman handle this matter!" The old master tapped his cane on the ground, his authoritative voice leaving no room for doubt.

Since the old master had spoken, Rosalyn Quinn did not dare to say more. The Quinn Family had always been connected to the military, but only when major events occurred would they let Harold Chapman handle them. She didn’t expect that even a small matter like Melody Thorne’s would trouble Harold Chapman.

"Let me down," Melody Thorne reached behind Jared Quinn and pinched him.

Jared Quinn lowered his gaze, his face with its sharp features still covered in a frosty demeanor, the anger nearly tearing the place apart. Yet, when he looked down, the face that had always been enchanting became somewhat gentle, but he still did not put her down.

Instead, he carried her as he stood up, "Let’s go upstairs to rest for a while."

"No need," Melody Thorne disembarked from him and whispered, "Be harsher to me."

After all, open and secret struggles within a wealthy family are inevitable. Although she was reborn and knew how many things would unfold, she feared she would become a pawn for others to use against Jared Quinn.

At first, she didn’t care, but today it was obvious!

Her instincts were very strong.

"Are you scared?" Jared Quinn lowered his gaze, gently smoothing her sleek forehead with a large hand, adjusting a stray lock of hair, his eyes softening a few notches.

Melody Thorne "...".

"You get out of here first," she urged softly, "quickly."

The large hand of Jared Quinn moved away, his gaze piercing, having already released her with an indifferent expression, "You better give me an explanation."

Seeing Jared Quinn leave, Melody Thorne finally breathed a sigh of relief. The expressions of the people in the living room immediately changed, thinking just now that the uproar at the Quinn family party was Jared Quinn losing his temper, not Melody Thorne having a fit.

Melody Thorne awkwardly smiled at everyone, then, as usual, chased after Jared Quinn, "Darling, wait for me..."

"Hah, after getting married for so long, she’s still despised by her cousin like before," someone chuckled, and many followed suit.

The old master’s face was somewhat unsightly, "Wasn’t it said that the relationship between the young madam and Jared had already improved? What’s going on now?"

The butler "...I don’t know either."

"Hmph, what use are you if you don’t know this and don’t know that?"

The butler "..."

Nolan Quinn turned his head and his gaze fell on Melody Thorne’s back, only giving a slight glance before retracting his gaze.

Upstairs.

Melody Thorne had just returned to the lounge upstairs when she was immediately pulled into a firm embrace, the tall body carrying a chilling aura pinning her against the wall, one long leg wedged between her legs.

A cold voice spit out two words, "Explain."

"I’ll explain, but why are you pinning me like this?" Melody Thorne braced herself but couldn’t evade his leg.

Long, damn it’s unruly. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

She simply sat on it as a bench, since her rule since being reborn was rather to wrong others than to wrong herself.

One standing and one sitting, still pinned against the wall, looked inexplicably odd.
