My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 279: Crossing the Line?
The "housekeeper" Melody Thorne spoke up again, standing in the middle of the hall with the demeanor of a hostess, "Take good care of my aunt. If the guests have any needs, do your best to accommodate them."
"Yes," the housekeeper bowed his head.
"It seems you can’t control your daughter-in-law at all," Rosalyn Quinn snorted coldly at Mrs. Quinn, unwilling to concede.
Melody Thorne was about to leave but turned back, supporting Mrs. Quinn with both hands, "Mom, let’s go sit over there for a while."
Mr. Quinn had been watching all along, and Mrs. Quinn, who never liked hearing Rosalyn’s words, pursed her lips and left.
"Melody, don’t be angry," Mr. Quinn said, "your aunt has always had that kind of temper."
"Yes, I know," Melody Thorne replied with a gentle and graceful smile.
"Alright, alright, go over there and play with them," Mr. Quinn looked at her with satisfaction.
Melody Thorne stood up; the "them" Mr. Quinn referred to were the female companions brought by the Quinn family’s cousins, along with the married socialites and high-society ladies.
She walked over, and that long table quickly became surrounded; they were purposely excluding her, wanting to make her stand out awkwardly.
But soon, they discovered that although Melody Thorne was walking toward them, she had no intention of stopping and instead went to the side where the sofas were.
Two men were sitting on the sofa at the moment, Harold Chapman and Jared Quinn.
"She’s looking for trouble again," a woman scoffed. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"It feels like a loss to call her sister-in-law."
But soon, those women ended up contradicting themselves.
"What’s wrong? Bored?" Jared Quinn was discussing something with Harold Chapman, but seeing her approach, he stopped immediately, wrapping an arm around her.
"Do you think it’s not boring?" Melody Thorne didn’t feign anything.
"It’s quite boring, just wait for a while," Jared Quinn replied.
"They really seem close."
"Could cousin be genuinely interested in that woman?"
"Let me try."
"Cousin, I salute you with this drink." A woman holding a glass walked over; it was Zoe Shaw, known as the top socialite in Stellaria. She was the daughter-in-law pre-selected by Rosalind Summers, attending every Quinn family gathering.
Melody Thorne’s foot stepped on her skirt just as she passed in front of Melody, and with a ripping sound, the skirt suddenly tore open from the back.
"Ouch," Rosalind Summers saw Zoe Shaw’s dress split from the back and hurriedly grabbed a jacket to help cover her, while Melody Thorne’s foot extended again.
With a "thump," Rosalind Summers stumbled forward, and the two of them fell in a heap.
"What happened, who tripped me?" Rosalind Summers got up, disregarding her image.
Melody Thorne had already withdrawn her foot just in time and then nudged Jared Quinn’s long leg out.
When Rosalind Summers looked over, she didn’t see Melody Thorne but Jared Quinn’s leg instead, her expression changing more than ten times in a flash. Although she was the aunt, Jared Quinn was the one they needed to cling to; they all relied on the Quinn family.
And Jared Quinn was discussing something important with Harold Chapman, his face solemn, so she could only swallow her loss in silence and helped Zoe Shaw leave.
"You’re becoming more capable," Jared Quinn remarked once they were far away, glancing sideways at the woman beside him. His lazy voice didn’t reveal whether he was angry or not.
Melody Thorne laughed softly, resting her chin on Jared Quinn’s shoulder, "Weren’t you trying to win my heart again? Don’t you know that to achieve your goal with a woman, you need to spoil her?"
"So now you’re trying to overstep your bounds?"
