Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Undoing the Clothes

Melody Thorne "...Okay."

"Will I check at the family gathering next week?"

Melody Thorne "..."

"Okay."

Old Mr. Quinn hung up the phone with satisfaction.

Melody Thorne put away her phone, washed up a bit, and walked into the kitchen, opening up the food one by one. There were soy milk, side dishes, toast, and everything.

Some of the dishes had cooled down, but the soy milk was still hot, so she turned on the stove to heat it up a bit.

Jared Quinn leaned against the door, a cigarette in his mouth, watching the figure inside. Did she remember what he said before going to sleep last night?

The golden lighter in his left hand had just sparked a faint blue flame when a pair of small hands suddenly reached over, taking away both the cigarette in his mouth and the lighter.

"Don’t smoke," Melody Thorne tossed the cigarette and lighter into the trash can. "Smoking isn’t good for wound healing."

Jared Quinn’s eyes darkened slightly. Her courage was growing; she dared to snatch away his cigarette and even threw it into the trash bin.

Was her current reaction hoping for his wound to heal because of what she said last night or because of what Old Mr. Quinn said?

Melody Thorne was focused on heating up the side dishes when suddenly a pair of strong arms wrapped around her from behind, and then her back was pressed against a chest.

Feeling a bit uneasy, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"Didn’t you say to start over?" Jared Quinn hugged her from behind, his tall body pressed closely to hers, as one hand held her free hand in his palm, and the other held the hand with the spatula, helping her stir the dish together in the pan,

The considerate actions, the warm breath, all felt like a couple in the midst of a passionate romance.

So he had heard it...

Melody Thorne didn’t move. The dish didn’t need much reheating, so it was done soon.

"I need to plate it," Melody Thorne turned her head around but didn’t directly tell him to move aside.

"Okay," Jared Quinn glanced down at the corner of her lips, full, shiny, and tempting. He leaned down for a light peck, then released her, "Okay."

Melody Thorne pursed her lips. She always knew Jared Quinn’s allure towards women was incredibly strong, irresistible—herself included. So she dared not indulge too much.

Once the dish was plated, breaking the usual routine, the handsome and dignified man took care of everything, carrying the dish out.

Melody Thorne followed behind him, sat down, and began to eat.

Jared Quinn’s gaze on her remained somewhat intense.

After eating, Melody Thorne prepared his medication for him.

After taking the medicine, alongside the meal time, more than an hour had passed. She felt that she had forgotten something but couldn’t recall what it was.

Just as Jared Quinn was about to reach out to hug her, Melody Thorne ran off, remembering that Dr. Mo had instructed her to apply medication to him twice every hour, yet she had only done it once before bed.

Melody Thorne returned with the medication, finding Jared Quinn still seated at the dining table.

"Turn around," she said, not able to reach him.

Jared Quinn glanced sideways, then turned slightly, sitting straight.

"Unbutton your shirt," Melody Thorne unscrewed the cap of the medicine bottle and picked up a cotton swab.

Jared Quinn raised his hand slightly, pulling her hand to his hospital gown’s buttons, "Do it yourself."

Melody Thorne "..."

Her fingers moved to unbutton Jared Quinn’s hospital gown, one by one. There’s a saying,

When you don’t care about someone, nothing matters in front of them.

When you start to care or want to start over, your emotions become variable; you get shy and your heart races in front of the man...
