My Stubborn Soul Card Follower-Chapter 517 - 408: Alice: I Think I Can Sail It (4K)
Alice was steering the exploration ship across the tranquil sea.
Night had fallen, and all around was darkness, with only the sound of waves and water lapping against the ship.
This was a very standard ocean exploration ship, designed specifically for opening new routes.
The incredibly complex operating system existed solely to give the ship a glimmer of hope for survival in these terrifying seas.
Alice skillfully managed the vessel, searching for a section of sea where she could set up a summoning array. Those intricate control devices were nothing special in her eyes.
Suddenly, a wailing and maniacal laughter swept past, as if a ghastly specter from a horror story had descended, accompanied by eerie storms that rocked the entire ship. The alarm systems on board blared frantically, and in an instant, all the safety devices issued warnings, heralding their failure.
"Huh?" Alice tilted her head, looking at the hundreds of error messages on the control panel, completely clueless as to what each one meant.
She turned the ship’s wheel slightly; the vessel was still in a manageable state.
"Hmm, never mind," Alice clapped her hands, "At least it can still run."
"I mean... shouldn’t you at least check things out?" Shen Sui, who had been observing everything, remarked helplessly, "At least look at the operation manual to see what problems you’re facing."
Upon hearing Shen Sui’s words, Alice paused slightly and said, "Claude? Huh? So you can come into the Dream World too?"
Previously, anything involving the Dream World had been relayed by Alice to Shen Sui; he had never actively initiated contact with Alice here.
In the cabin, the alarm was blaring urgently, like the urging voice of Death God, driving one to annoyance.
"I can follow your perspective inside." Given a reasonable excuse to shirk responsibility for training Alice in this new world, Shen Sui thought, as he spoke, "But it’s only observational. Back on the Dawn Continent, it was one thing to act recklessly, but why are you still like this in a new world?"
"I wasn’t exactly reckless," Alice looked at the alarm lights on the control panel and said, "I left a dragon scale back at the camp. If anything goes wrong, I can trigger a teleport jump."
After reaching the ninth rank, Alice finally had the ability to reliably activate the Star Abyss White Dragon Scale’s teleportation effect within the same world.
However, similar to the Flying Thunder God from Naruto, the Star Abyss White Dragon Scale needs to be placed in the destination beforehand to be effective.
Alice seemed reckless, but she was now a person with responsibilities and very much cherished her life. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Claude, Anna, Oshana, Aina...
Alice didn’t want her friends and family to mourn her death, especially if it was an enigmatic demise in an Otherworld.
Therefore, when she set out to sea, she had already prepared for the worst scenario. Leaving a dragon scale at the camp was one part; another was having an awakening array on her body in reality. If things went wrong, she would immediately wake up—of course, this was the last resort, which essentially meant she was giving up on the Candlelight Illusion of this world.
In fact, Alice’s actions weren’t solely for saving this world or anything.
When transferring members of the Snowfield Tribe to this world, she suddenly realized that a world she could traverse freely was the perfect alternate base for herself.
Although she hadn’t formulated a clear plan, she already considered the territory of this world as an external expansion of the Twilit Legion.
The reason she sought to integrate the Twilit Legion with the Church of the Master of Thunder was that holding the Twilight banner had begun to draw considerable attention from numerous powers on the Dawn Continent.
Other organizations might fly the Twilight banner for personal gain, but the Twilit Legion, born under Alice’s will and through her efforts with Anna, hadn’t followed the path of corruption typical of traditional peasant uprising armies. Instead, it gradually established its footing and even started to develop a semblance of self-definition.
Alice was no longer the young girl who had tumbled in the dye vat of Roland City; with Catherine’s guidance and reminders, she had started formulating a systematic plan for the Twilit Legion.
Under the watchful eyes of numerous forces, if the Twilit Legion wanted to truly carry out the will of the Twilight of the Gods, they would need a base that couldn’t be observed by these powers.
These ideas were initially seeds Catherine planted in Alice’s mind, but after the night in the Snowfield, Alice gradually connected the dots with her various advantages, leading to her current mindset.
When Shen Sui saw Alice’s thoughts, he was filled with complex emotions.
Because if you connected all of Alice’s advantages together, wasn’t it the template of a standard protagonist in a two-world lord story?
Precisely because of this, the lord status in World No. 8 should not be casually discarded.
Alice should foster good habits of economizing and not treat the Candlelight Illusion like consumable magic potions.
"That’s why you shouldn’t easily abandon this world’s identity," Shen Sui reminded, "The Candlelight Illusion isn’t as easy to fabricate as you think. Otherwise, over thousands of years of Dawn Continent’s history, there wouldn’t only be one Vivian."
