Chapter 180: Trap!?

"What do you think, General Kaine? Should we move?"

"It is our duty to help, General Kael. How could we not provide assistance?" Zarek said with the biggest, brightest smile on his face.

"Haha, that is true." Kael nodded. "You really are one of humanity’s heroes, so young, yet already so strong and brave. I believe you will become at least a Telekinetic Grandmaster, no, a Telekinetic Paragon in the future."

"We’d like to congratulate the Regnorak Empire for already having a permanent future Paragon," Alex commented from the side.

"You’re simply overpraising me," Zarek smiled, cursing inwardly.

Initially, he wanted to go alone, to hunt humans while protecting the dragons. Who knew he’d be forced to travel with these generals?

After all, he was the general of the Regnorak Empire, and he couldn’t be allowed to roam freely in their territory.

The Falcon Empire was closest to the Dragon Kingdom, and most of the dragons’ paths to their home would be cut off here. That’s why this was the perfect place for the Dragon Hunting Festival.

Elsewhere, dragons were also actively persecuted and hunted, but not as intensely, dragons could usually escape and were forced back to the kingdom where here they lay as the most important point for the dragon hunt.

Drayken looked ahead. The generals were all following a ragtag group of Telekinetic users.

They were all suspected to be cult members, and Zarek was dragged along to help persecute them with the others.

Strangely, that white-haired girl with crimson eyes was also among the ragtag group.

But Zarek was sure neither his group nor the others had a cult member like her. That meant this was completely false.

For now, he needed to be sure, were these generals scamming him, planning his death?

It seemed unlikely, since he represented the empire, and killing him would spark a full-blown war. Or did they have other intentions?

"..." Zarek silently contemplated the possibility.

Just then, Alex raised his palm, and everyone stopped in place.

"Hmm?" Zarek looked ahead, the ragtag group had reached a cave.

"Is this one of the dragon caves?"

His eyes narrowed for a moment.

The wide pathway, shrouded in darkness that even experts couldn’t fully see through, felt very much like a dragon cave.

Zarek was uncertain.

The ragtag group quickly entered the cave, and silence fell over the area.

"Let’s go inside," General Kael chuckled.

"Okay." Alex nodded.

The five generals swiftly followed right after them.

"What do you think, General Kaine? Do you believe they’re really from the cult?" General Kael asked with a smile.

"..." Zarek chose to remain silent. ’Why is this guy asking me so many questions? Is he suspicious or something?’

In situations like this, when you don’t know a person’s true intentions, it’s better to stay quiet.

As they walked deeper into the dark cave, they traveled for about an hour but still hadn’t reached anywhere, completely surrounded by darkness.

"Something’s wrong!" Alex suddenly shouted.

Zarek felt like rolling his eyes. ’You only noticed that now, buddy?’

The other generals also scanned their surroundings with growing vigilance.

"What’s going on? How did we fall into a trap?" Kael said, extending his hand. The spear strapped to his back came into his grip, and with a swift motion, he raised it above his shoulder and hurled it through the air.

Boosted by his Telekinesis, the simple spear flew like a missile, striking the cave wall.

Bang!

A loud thud echoed but that was all. The spear fell to the ground, losing momentum.

"Eh? My Telekinetic Master strength couldn’t even leave a dent here," he said, narrowing his eyes.

"..." Zarek stared silently at the cave walls. He could feel a conspiracy brewing in the air. He activated his inspect skill.

’The cave walls are ordinary, so how could they withstand the full strength of a Telekinetic Master?’

A Telekinetic Master’s full power was enough to destroy a small hill, and that spear throw could have easily done the same. But this was supposed to be a normal cave wall. How could it withstand that?

All the generals looked visibly shaken as they watched Kael do nothing.

"Should we split up?" Alex asked.

"Our signals and receivers have lost all contact here. We might have walked into an elaborate trap."

"Are those pesky cults really this capable?" General Kael stomped the ground in frustration.

"It might not be the cult," Alex commented. "The cult may be deeply hidden, but they don’t have the capability to build something like this. This is likely another group’s trap."

"Who could it be—!?" General Kael suddenly paused, his eyes widening and pupils distorting. "Could it be..."

"Someone who specializes in these things. Who else but those races?" Alex muttered.

"But those Naga bastards were supposed to be dead..." Kael gritted his teeth. "Are you saying some remnants escaped that event?"

"That might be true," Alex said with grave seriousness.

As he spoke, a sudden clap echoed ahead of them.

"Who’s there?" Kael shouted.

It was the woman with white hair and crimson eyes.

"Took you long enough."

She looked straight at them without a trace of fear. freёwebnoѵel.com

A spear lunged through the air, tearing the very atmosphere as it flew toward her. To everyone’s absolute astonishment, the spear effortlessly phased through her body and slammed into the cave wall.

"You’re not real," Kael growled.

"You know the specialty of the Nagas," she said, her crimson pupils locking onto him. "This is just a virtual body after all."

Kael froze. His body mechanically turned around and unleashed his Telekinesis, attacking everyone, including Zarek.

But it only lasted a few seconds before he regained control, cold sweat pouring down his back.

"I got invaded in my head." he spoke with a trembling voice.

"Is that even possible? I am a general who has fought in the army but now a mere thing..."

Kael gritted his teeth, his eyes looked at the woman with complete hatred, an unbounded hatred.

"Stop." At this moment, Zarek spoke calmly, "Think with your head, not with anger, General Kael."

"... You are right."
