My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin-Chapter 55: Drag Her Back
"She’s going to elope with June!"
The temperature, as those words echoed, instantly dropped. Everyone’s eyes dilated as their hearts leapt to their throats. Even though they had subconsciously prepared for such words to be uttered anytime, it had been too peaceful lately that they had unknowingly grown complacent.
They only realized that despite their relentless criticism and doubt toward Ashley, they had slowly begun giving her the benefit of the doubt.
"Again?" one of them blurted out in dismay.
Isabella, on the other hand, pushed the security aside and approached Lucian. This time, she didn’t stop until she stood right before him.
"Lucian." Her voice was gentle, her eyes filled with worry and concern. "I had been trying to reach you, but I couldn’t. So, this is the only chance I got."
She cleared her throat, straightened her back, and looked him in the eye. "Ashley told me that she’d be meeting June tonight and leaving again. I know my sister is stubborn, and even when I told her to stop this foolishness, she wouldn’t listen."
"I also know that... our family has worked hard for this alliance," she continued in the same tone. "So even when I know this might hurt our alliance again, I just couldn’t risk completely losing Dominion’s favor. Not after I went to see her the day before."
Meaning, she was trying to remove any involvement from this to avoid Dominion’s wrath.
Lucian just stared at Isabella coldly, his expression unchanged. However, everyone could feel the growing fury around him.
"Gustav," he called, staring at Isabella a little too long before stepping into the car.
He didn’t indulge her nor say a word. Lucian simply stepped into the car after calling Gustav, and the latter lowered his head.
"Yes, Master," was all Gustav said before casting the other men a quick look and following him inside.
Despite just that look, the members of Dominion already knew what they were supposed to do. This was not the first time Ashley tried to escape... and it wouldn’t be the last.
As for Isabella, she took a step back as the cars began to roll away.
Her brows lifted slightly as she kept her eyes on the car Lucian was in, followed by several escort vehicles. Once they were at a distance, the corners of her lips curled into a vile smirk.
"Haha..." a light chuckle escaped her, pleased by the reaction she had seen. "She’s dead tonight."
Satisfied, Isabella turned to join her father. But the moment she did, she froze upon catching sight of Scott—Marshal’s dog servant—standing a few meters away.
The smile on her face vanished instantly, and she clicked her tongue. Still, that didn’t stop her from walking toward him. She ignored him, but just as she passed, her steps halted when the usually quiet Scott spoke.
"Miss Isabella, what have you done?"
Isabella arched a brow, glancing back at him. "Scott, weren’t you taught not to ask questions? Mind your own business."
"You do not want to push Miss Ashley into a corner, Miss," Scott said, facing her squarely. "You know how she can be. You don’t want her coming after you herself."
She scoffed, his words clearly souring her mood. "You regard her too highly, Scott. Before she could touch me, she’d better find a way to leave Dominion first. And for a dog such as yourself, you sure have a lot to say to your master."
"Scott." Isabella stepped closer, standing before him. "I’ll give you some advice. I know you’re fond of Ashley, but she’s not your master. I’ll let this rudeness slide tonight, but next time? I won’t be so lenient."
She looked him up and down with a sneer before resuming her steps.
"Since there’ll be no next time, I’ll be honest then," Scott remarked, staring at her back. "Once she snaps, she’s going to skin you alive. And when that happens, I’ll be by your father’s side, making sure he lives. As for you... you and everyone protecting you—no matter how many men you surround yourself with—she’s going to find you, slit your throat, and decapitate you so she can kick that head of yours like a ball."
Scott remained calm as he stepped forward, stopping just behind her. "I know... because that’s the kind of monster the Di Carpios created." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Isabella’s shoulders trembled, her sharp eyes fixed on her father’s right-hand man.
"I’m saying this for your own good, Miss," Scott added. "And for the family... with all due respect."
With that, Scott stepped back and moved past the young heiress of the Di Carpios, who had yet to understand the reality of their world.
Then again, compared to Ashley, Isabella had been raised in a far more pampered environment. She grew up without sullying her hands because the Di Carpios’ power protected her—whereas Ashley had been forced to enforce that power and contribute to its growth.
It was just that Ashley was stubborn, holding herself back just so she could claim she wasn’t like Marshal or the rest of the Di Carpios. However, none of them—not even Marshal—would want Ashley to finally admit she was just like them.
It wouldn’t end well for any of them.
Isabella seethed, grinding her teeth as she glared at Scott’s back.
"Bastard," she scoffed. "Let’s see if she survives tonight first."
She drew a deep breath, calming herself until she managed to recompose herself. A moment later, she nodded.
"Tonight, she’s dead," she whispered, turning toward the direction where the Dominion vehicles had disappeared. "If not, I don’t think she’ll be able to repair her position in Dominion."
The thought replaced the irritation Scott had stirred in her.
"That old fool," she clicked her tongue. "How dare he say all that to me?"
A glint flickered in her eyes. "Once I inherit the family, he’s going to regret ever challenging me," she smirked. "Did he think I’d need someone like him once I became the head of the family?"

Meanwhile, Lucian sat in the backseat, his face obscured by shadows. Those riding with him could only hold their breath as they felt his mood sink lower and lower. It wouldn’t be surprising if Lucian’s temper dropped straight into the pits of hell, waving at Satan on the way down.
Gustav, on the other hand, saw his phone light up and answered the call. He listened in silence.
"You know what to do," he whispered before glancing at the backseat, where quiet anger consumed his boss.
Gustav felt his chest tighten, his expression briefly souring as he cursed Ashley in his heart.
I knew it! She hadn’t changed — not one bit!
"Master, the people in the mansion have reported back," Gustav said. "They confirmed she’s not there. It seems she and Nolan have left. I still don’t know how she convinced Nolan, but we’ve located them."
Lucian didn’t respond. His figure remained swallowed by the darkness.
His jaw tightened, and it felt like an invisible hand was gripping his heart, squeezing as if trying to crush it.
The image of Ashley and Primo lying together—her humming him to sleep, her soft kisses, her gentle voice—cracked before him, shattering into something he couldn’t hold onto.
I told her... if this was a lie, she’d better make sure she could keep it forever.
But of course, she couldn’t.
The moment an opportunity appeared... she would run, again.
Lucian dragged a hand through his hair and exhaled.
"Drag her back," he ordered, his voice low and dangerous. "No matter what."
