Chapter 15: Be Rich Overnight

"Is she being serious?"

"She’s going to come with us?"

"God. Just what kind of misfortune did our organization end up with?"

"Did someone really put a curse on us?"

Another one pinched the bridge of his nose. "How could the master just bend like that because she threw an explosive tantrum?"

Everyone’s faces soured as they remembered Ashley throwing a huge tantrum.

Members of Dominion, who were expecting to assist and protect their boss in this meeting, could not help but talk among themselves. They could barely stand Ashley or the fact that she was still breathing after everything she had done at this point.

"I hate her," one of them hissed, glaring in Ashley’s direction. "Let her come. Who knows? Maybe that’ll be her grave."

As that slipped past his lips, the other members glanced at him, their brows raising. Missions were risky, and there was no guarantee one would survive. Although this wasn’t considered a mission, but rather an escort to ensure Lucian returned home in one piece, it was still dangerous.

The place they were headed to was neutral ground.

It might be neutral, but it was just as dangerous as a lawless land.

Things could happen, and situations could escalate quickly, especially outside their territory. If that happened, no one would be blamed if Ashley became a casualty.

Slowly, everyone shifted their eyes to where Ashley stood.

Meanwhile, Gustav, who was standing near his men, listened quietly to their whispers. He knew they wouldn’t dare harm her directly. Lucian would dismember them personally.

However, he also understood that these men would prioritize Lucian over her.

"..." Gustav didn’t say a word, indifferent to whatever happened to her.

But... she better make sure she has no other silly plans, he thought, his eyes glinting dangerously. Otherwise, she’s never going back to this place. I’ll make sure of that.

Unbothered by the reactions around her, Ashley stood near the car in front of Lucian. She was smiling from ear to ear, as if she hadn’t just thrown a big tantrum earlier when Lucian had told her a cold, "No."

I didn’t have a reputation to keep in this place anyway, she giggled inwardly.

If anything, everyone here wished her dead. However, Lucian wanted her alive. He wanted her by his side. So even with their collective prayers and wishes for her death, they couldn’t do anything to her.

Lucian, on the other hand, let out a deep exhale at the smiling woman in front of him. Whenever she smiled like this, she looked too innocent and bubbly — as if she had never committed a single sin in her life.

But at the same time, it left the lingering impression that she was up to something.

"Confess now," he ordered, arms crossed, his expression plain just like his tone. "Did you sell another piece of information underground?"

"Sell?" Ashley frowned deeply. "I didn’t sell anything. Tsk."

The thought made her a little bitter. She leaked the information without payment. Had she known, she would’ve leaked it and gotten paid. At least that way she would’ve gotten something in return.

She arched a brow and narrowed her eyes before stepping closer and holding his arm.

"Lu, if I sell classified information and get paid for it, how much do you think it should cost?"

Her voice was loud enough to reach those who absolutely shouldn’t have heard that comment.

The second they did, they whipped their heads toward them, shock written all over their faces.

Gustav’s face darkened.

All of them were thinking the same thing.

Just what sort of nonsense was she asking?!

Much to their dismay, Lucian answered with a hum.

"You’d be very rich overnight."

MASTER!!!

"That woman!" one of the members ground his teeth while the others held him back before he did something he would regret.

"She’s just trying to make us angry!" one of them hissed. "Just ignore her for now!"

Ashley bit her lip and deliberately slid her gaze toward the men in the distance. When they noticed her peeking at them while hiding behind Lucian’s body, they felt their blood boil.

She wasn’t even hiding her provocations anymore.

As if to add salt to their wounds, Ashley shamelessly pressed her side against Lucian. She looked up at him, smiling like an angel.

Lucian, on the other hand, simply stared down at her as she clung to him. Deep down, he knew she was planning something.

However, that wasn’t his concern right now.

"We’re not going on a vacation," he said. "It’s going to be a dangerous meeting."

But she nodded profusely as if she hadn’t heard a single word.

At that point, whatever Lucian wanted to say rolled back down his throat. He didn’t want to take her with him, but the massive tantrum she threw — along with her threats that she wouldn’t eat or drink until he came back — told him she truly intended to go.

"Let’s go," he said, about to open the door when she suddenly perked up.

"Oh, wait!" she exclaimed, jumping back. "Wait for me. I forgot something!"

Without waiting for his response, Ashley ran back into the mansion.

Lucian and everyone else could only watch her figure disappear inside with confusion.

Those who had carried her luggage had sour expressions.

"Forgot something?" one of them said, speechless. "She already packed like she was moving to a new house. Don’t tell me there’s more?!"

But Ashley had already brought everything she needed for this trip.

What she forgot was something else.

Hurrying to Primo’s room, she didn’t even bother knocking before flinging the door open.

"Champ!"

Primo, who had been quietly studying, flinched at the voice that thundered into his room. When he turned his head, Ashley was already marching toward him.

Slam!

She slapped her hand on the desk beside him while the other rested on her hip.

"Hey, I’m going away for a while. What do you want?"

Primo furrowed his brows and tilted his head.

In his mind, he could only wonder if no one had told her this was not a vacation.

Then again, judging by how she was dressed, it seemed like she was expecting to laugh and run on the beach like those dramas she had been watching.

Primo reached for a piece of paper and scribbled something on it.

[It’s dangerous.]

"I know. Is there anything Lu does that isn’t dangerous?" she clicked her tongue. "But I heard the food there is delicious. I’ll buy you something."

[Do you have money?]

Her smile stiffened before completely disappearing.

Ashley slowly pushed herself away and turned, dragging her feet lifelessly. She even started muttering to herself.

She looked gloomier and more dispirited than ever!

Primo panicked a little before his eyes fell back on the paper. He quickly scribbled something again before knocking on the desk to get her attention.

"Huh?" She paused and looked back at the heartless boy who had just stabbed her heart by reminding her she was broke as hell with a very innocent look on his face.

But when she saw the paper in his hand, her brows slowly rose before a small smile crept onto her face.

There, standing beside his desk, Primo held up the paper.

[Anything. Stay safe.]

Her frown turned upside down, gentleness softening her smile.

"Of course I will," she laughed. "I haven’t beaten you yet, after all."

And somehow, those words were the most reassuring thing he had heard in a while.

Ashley left with Lucian and the guards. As the cars rolled out of the driveway, Primo stood by the window.

He rested a hand on the glass, his eyes fixed on the car she was in. A subtle smile formed on his face; his mood was no longer as gloomy.

I’ll be waiting.
