Chapter 1140: Chapter 1140: The Unsolved Secret

"But my merchandise is gone now," Ivanov ground his teeth, his eyes dark and fierce with hate and malice. "It must have been Third Young Master Jun and his lot, that vile man with such a scheming heart. He even sent people to throw us off, making us think he would really come to trade."

"But don’t they need our weapons? If our arms were seized by the authorities, where would he get any?" Yiren still couldn’t believe it.

"Then tell me who else it could be besides them?" Ivanov raged.

Yet he knew all too well that he himself must not get caught. After all, he was a respectable figure in the international business world. Being arrested would be so embarrassing, and getting tangled up in the political problems of arms smuggling was a huge trouble.

Damn that Third Young Master Jun, he had caused him no small amount of harm. It seemed this batch of arms would have to be abandoned.

"Let’s go!"

He and Yiren quickly exited the warehouse with several bodyguards covering them. As they stepped out, one of his subordinates had already driven up rapidly.

They were about to get into the car when, out of nowhere, a tear gas grenade whizzed toward them and exploded rapidly before them.

This unexpected attack plunged them into chaos.

"Ah..." Yiren screamed. The irritating gases made the group cover their eyes in agony, tears streaming down relentlessly.

Not far away, the armed police charged in at full force, surrounding them. The frost-faced special forces gripped them authoritatively without hesitation, dragged them up one by one, pinned them to the ground, and handcuffed their hands behind their backs.

"What are you doing, stop it, we’re foreigners!" Ivanov shouted, covering his eyes, furious at the humiliation. He had always lived a life of luxury—when had he ever been so mortified, trampled on the ground for all to see, his shock and rage intertwining. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Foreigners? It’s exactly you foreign bastards who come here committing all sorts of crimes, thinking you can be arrogant just because you’re foreigners. Detain them," the leading officer sneered disdainfully, kicking him.

The robust police had a fierce strength; a kick to the chest shook Ivanov with pain.

He had never felt such shame, but he dared not reveal his identity publicly. Doing so would be even more embarrassing and would also make it easier for this incident to become known, affecting the Ivan Family’s reputation. He could only bear the pain.

"Daddy." Yiren was pinned to the ground, her shame and rage mixed. She was the Eldest Miss Hua—she had never experienced such humiliation. These bastards, didn’t they know to be more gentlemanly toward women? No, she couldn’t be arrested—if this got out, how could she, the Eldest Miss Hua, save face?

She looked at Ivanov frantically, "Daddy, tell them we are..."

"Shut up, dare to speak out of turn, and I’ll kill you!" Ivanov shouted harshly, his cold and ruthless eyes piercing her like Siberian snowfall.

This daughter of his, more trouble than she was worth, he had painstakingly raised her, spending a great deal of money and effort to secure her the position of the Eldest Miss Hua. He had hoped she could grasp the Hua family’s secrets, to use them for the Ivan Family, bringing them limitless benefits, helping the Ivan Family return to the pinnacle of the arms industry.

But who would have thought that although she returned to the Hua family, she was unable to unravel those secrets?

He could only watch impatiently those enticing secrets within reach but untouchable, an agonizing thirst in his heart.
