Chapter 1042: Chapter 1041 Departure

Ye Lu slumped onto the chair, her breath short, her mind in chaos, her eyes filled with bewilderment.

"I know what you’re thinking. The day you’re waiting for might come very soon, so why rush?" Third Young Master Jun’s slender fingers trailed over her rosy lips, light as a feather, touching and then immediately retreating.

Then he turned around, draped on his dark cloak, and strode away.

His cold and arrogant voice resonated throughout the room.

"Although you might not believe it, I still want to say that it wasn’t me who killed Old Ling!"

Ye Lu’s pupils dilated, her fingers clenched tightly; she tried to decide whether to believe his completely unsupported claim, but Third Young Master Jun had already disappeared at the doorway.

The sound of a car engine starting outside signaled his imminent departure.

Ye Lu’s fingers twitched, she stood up, but ultimately sat back down and refrained from seeing him off.

Third Young Master stood by the main car in the garden, with all the vehicles ready and waiting for him to board. Yet he stood motionless, hand on the car door that was ajar.

Feiyu glanced toward the villa’s entrance, but there was no sight of Ye Lu, nor any sound of her coming out.

His heart sank with the knowledge that Third Young Master hoped to see Ye Lu come out to bid him farewell.

But Ye Lu didn’t show up, and Third Young Master must have been very upset.

This mission was extremely dangerous. The notorious drug lord was a tyrant, fierce and bloodthirsty, with a powerful armed force like a wall of iron and who dared to appoint himself as king. For decades, several governments had repeatedly sent regular troops in full combat formation to attack forcefully but couldn’t handle him, a cancerous thorn in their side. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

This showed the extraordinary strength and fearsome power of this man.

And in this joint extermination plan, Third Young Master’s assignment was the most perilous part, where bullet storms and deathtrap jungles meant that his odds were no better than nine deaths and one life.

On such a dangerous task, he might well never return.

Even for Third Young Master, before embarking, he needed his beloved woman to show concern, to tenderly tell him she would wait for his return home—a force both inspiring and motivating.

Ye Lu was really too heartless.

"I’m leaving!" Third Young Master Jun withdrew his gaze quietly, his voice calm and steady, as he stepped into the car.

Feiyu became anxious, bit his lip, and dashed back into the villa, across the hall, to the dining room, where he stared fiercely at Ye Lu with reddened eyes.

"Are you really that heartless? This mission Third Young Master is on is very dangerous. It’s very possible... possible..."

Feiyu choked up, unable even to voice the possible outcome.

But seeing Ye Lu’s indifferent expression, he couldn’t help but roar.

"To put it bluntly, what if this is the last time you ever see each other? Even then, you won’t go and see him off? Don’t you know he was waiting for you to come out just now? How much he wished you would go see him off, even just to say goodbye. He would have been so happy!"

Ye Lu’s body shook imperceptibly, her fingertips trembling with cold, and she suddenly looked up at him, stunned.

"What nonsense are you talking about? He isn’t so easy to kill. Who else would die, he won’t."

He often went abroad; such matters should be far too familiar to him. Even someone as significant as Old Ling had managed to escape unscathed, and with his formidable strength, who could possibly kill him?

"One day... you’ll regret everything you said today," Feiyu said, seething with anger.

"I don’t care whether you’re willing to go or not, but Third Young Master needs you. Even if you don’t say a word, I’m going to drag you out there."

A small wish from Third Young Master before he departed, as a subordinate, he must fulfill it at least.

He grabbed Ye Lu’s hand and pulled her up from the chair, dragged her through the living room, and out the front door.

Ye Lu was angry, but in the end, she didn’t speak out and let him pull her along.

But, by the time they reached the garden, it was already desolate.
