Chapter 1004: Chapter 1004: The Spy

Third Young Master Jun struggled to get up, touching his forehead, which burned alarmingly hot as if on fire, no wonder his head was so dizzy, his muscles ached, and he felt unbearably uncomfortable.

He sat on the ground, leaning weakly against the desk with his eyes closed, and after a long while, his head still throbbed painfully, a sensation not unfamiliar to him.

Ever since the accident of falling into the sea, he would occasionally suffer from high fevers.

This time, whether because of the gunshot wound on his arm or because in the afternoon, Gu Yan had drugged him, and to stay alert, he had forcibly injected an excessive dose of medicine, triggering this consequence.

Regardless of which it was, it didn’t matter anymore.

Because he knew that without using the medicine now, he would fall into a feverish coma like before.

He staggered to his feet, his face both pale and flushed from fever, barely managing to walk to the bookshelf and took out the injections left by the professor from the safe.

With trembling hands, he grabbed the syringe. The professor had given him six doses, saying these should last over half a year, but now only one and a half doses remained.

Three months were still missing before the time the professor had set, and he had used them all up.

Third Young Master Jun gave a wry smile, yet his face showed a determined, resolute look, drawing the medicine into the syringe.

He then walked to the study’s adjoining rest room, lay down on the bed, pulled up his sleeve without a moment’s hesitation on his strong, unyielding face.

He inserted the needle into his vein and slowly pushed the medicine in.

Then he yanked the syringe out and tossed it onto the floor, drained of energy.

He closed his eyes, the drug took effect, and he fell into a groggy sleep.

The next day, Ye Lu didn’t wake up until noon. When she came downstairs, she saw that Third Young Master Jun was already sitting on the sofa, his head lazily leaning against the back, eyes closed, apparently nurturing his spirit, his complexion looking much better than last night.

In front of him on the table, there was a newspaper.

The headline of the newspaper was Old Ling’s death, taking up a huge portion of the page, with a photo of Old Ling’s solemn and dignified image.

Ye Lu’s eyes were sharply stung.

Seeing Third Young Master Jun’s lazy and careless expression, her heart filled with even more disappointment.

He truly had no sense of guilt whatsoever.

"Let’s have lunch, you’ve already missed breakfast," Third Young Master Jun opened his eyes, turning his stunning face toward her, his hazy phoenix eyes filled with a gentle hue.

Ye Lu had no desire to talk to him and coldly turned her face away, going to eat lunch on her own.

Third Young Master Jun was not angered by it, following behind her, he too took a seat at the dining table.

They had the meal served.

Ye Lu felt suffocated at the sight of him and really didn’t want to see him.

"Your presence takes away my appetite," she said.

Third Young Master Jun stiffened, the bowl he had picked up was slowly set back down, then he just laughed nonchalantly and walked away.

After finishing her meal, she went upstairs to her room without giving him another look, completely ignoring him.

Third Young Master Jun listened to the sound of her footsteps going upstairs, knowing she was still angry but he could wait; after all, his resolve would not change!

"Third Young Master, the people with Gu Yan, we can’t find their origins, they must be extraordinary!" Feiyu returned, his face looking very grim. Remembering how that bastard Gu Yan dared to kill Old Ling and frame Third Young Master, his eyes turned bloodshot with anger.

"But why did Gu Yan know about our plan and appear at such a critical moment?"

He paused, his eyes flashing with a chilly light.

"Third Young Master, could there be a traitor among us?"

How could such a secret matter have been leaked out?

"A traitor? Of course," Third Young Master Jun’s deep black eyes and long, curled lashes gave his face an indifferent, sarcastic expression, and beneath it, a dark gleam of insight.
