My Professions Have Too Much Personality-Chapter 142 - 109: Might of the Priest, Black Tuo Divine Blood (Part 4)
But the Black Tuo Follower’s attack was swift. He chanted an incantation, and a black mist enveloped his left arm. The once-sturdy limb suddenly shriveled.
Meanwhile, his right arm swelled to several times its normal size, even whistling as it cut through the air!
The Faceless Ghost Follower tried to resist, unleashing a roiling wave of psychic energy, but Deceitful God’s Followers like him possessed a naturally strong resistance to Mental Attacks.
SQUELCH!
The arm plunged straight into his chest. The Faceless Ghost Follower let out a strangled cry of unwillingness. His chest had been pierced through, his heart crushed, and his body slumped limply to the ground.
The Black Tuo Follower knelt on the ground again. "Mission complete."
’How useful.’ Su Chen’s expression shifted. He then asked a few more questions, such as about the missing Holy Word Stone and the whereabouts of the Space Crystal.
But these were not matters a Black Tuo Follower, who had only ever operated within Yingfeng City, would know about.
Beside them, Pang Xingwen was completely dumbfounded, his eyes vacant. Too much had happened tonight. Though he was physically present, his mind had checked out a while ago.
"What’s in there?" Su Chen looked at the two metal boxes in the corner. They were engraved with intricate patterns that blocked some of "Priest Black Tuo’s" perception.
The Black Tuo Follower responded honestly, "Those are the two Deceitful Artifacts that Pang Hui originally worshiped. One is the Saint Master’s, and the other is the Faceless Ghost’s."
"There’s also an item that arrived a few days ago, which Pang Hui was preparing to deliver to the Judicial Court."
"Oh? What is it? And who was it for?" Su Chen’s interest was piqued.
"I don’t know the specifics of the item, but it was for Wei Yinsuo..." The Black Tuo Follower before him explained that he was just one link in the chain; his main tasks were to monitor Pang Hui and relay missions to him.
"Is Wei Yinsuo one of us, too?" Su Chen pressed.
"Not to my knowledge." The Black Tuo Follower shook his head. "Corrupting him has always been our goal."
"Hmm..." Su Chen grew thoughtful. He looked at the Black Tuo Follower and said coolly:
"I have a general understanding of the situation now. The Pang Family has been wiped out, and the resources we invested for years have all gone up in smoke. You bear the primary responsibility for this."
"In consideration of your many years of meritorious service, I will allow you to return to the Saint Master’s embrace."
A tremor ran through the Black Tuo Follower’s eyes, but it wasn’t fear. It was honor and fanaticism, so much so that his eyes welled with tears. "Thank you, Lord Priest!"
His eyes went wide, and then he fell silent, toppling straight to the ground.
Su Chen had originally intended to keep him alive to see if he could bait out more Black Tuo Followers or even other members of the Deceitful God Sect.
But on second thought, he mused, ’This guy’s fanaticism is directed at me only because of Black Tuo. If another Priest showed up, he’d be just as fanatical toward them. If he revealed my identity, it would create trouble where there was none. It’s better to silence him for good.’
THUD!
The sound of the body hitting the floor was like a clap of thunder in Pang Xingwen’s ears. He shuddered violently, as if his soul had just snapped back into his body, and stared at the corpse on the ground in disbelief.
’He... he’s just dead? Like that?’
’That was a Tier Three Professional! He killed himself over a single sentence?’
’What kind of psychos are these Deceitful God’s Followers?!’
Pang Xingwen turned to Su Chen, trembling, and forced a smile. "G-Great Priest, I’ve already agreed..."
Before he could finish, Su Chen’s chilling gaze swept over him. Pang Xingwen’s eyes rolled back, and he too fell silent, collapsing stiffly to the ground.
His Telekinesis wrapped around the three bodies and stuffed them all into his Storage Space.
He then used his power to bring over the two metal boxes from the corner and opened them. The attraction Su Chen felt immediately became much clearer.
There were three items in total.
The familiar Black Tuo Deceitful Artifact needed no introduction. The other artifact, however, looked strange. It seemed to be crafted from a skull, its surface carved with five faces, each lacking any features.
’The Faceless Ghost. It’s said this Deceitful God excels at disguise. Its Believers can impersonate one’s closest loved ones, and they love to reveal their true nature at a person’s happiest moments, just to see the look of despair on their face as they’re killed by someone they trust.’
’They can even disguise themselves as the Believers of other Deceitful Gods. That must be why Zhou Xian accused me of being a Faceless Ghost Follower before.’
Because of what Zhou Xian had said, he had specifically looked up information about this particular Deceitful God.
The power from the two Deceitful Artifacts was extracted. Su Chen was surprised to see on his panel that the two types of Deceitful God’s Power hadn’t merged. They were listed separately, and their names had even changed.
[Low-tier Black Tuo Power]
[Low-tier Faceless Ghost Power]
’The powers of different Deceitful Gods don’t mix. My previous guess was probably right—different types of Deceitful God’s Power should be able to trigger different professional reactions.’
’Black Tuo’s power causes a profession to advance. What about the Faceless Ghost’s?’
The thought occurred to Su Chen, but he didn’t rush to test it.
Instead, he looked at the last item, a crimson object shaped like a pebble. He could faintly see liquid flowing inside it, mixed with specks of black light.
The attraction it exuded was different from that of the Deceitful Artifacts; it was very peculiar.
Su Chen touched it cautiously. It was warm and smooth, not at all like a stone—
