My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms-Chapter 81: Guarding You Safe and Sound
The stars in the sky were dim, shrouded in an endless blackness—cold, oppressive.
Eight military-grade SUVs and a silver-gray van all drove to the abandoned construction site where Renee was held.
The site was in the suburbs, without streetlights. The headlights of the eight SUVs turned on in unison, making the desolate construction site even more oppressive and frightening.
Blondie, Tattooed Man, Man with an Earring.
All three knelt on the ground with their heads lowered.
Eight bodyguards stood in a circle, surrounding the three men.
Rhys Tierney also got out of the car, standing to the side in silence.
Jack Yates took a pair of black gloves from the glove compartment, gently patted Renee’s head: "Wait for me in the car."
Renee grabbed his hand and handed him an iPad: "There’s a video threatening me in here." She continued, "I wasn’t brought here by these three, it was someone else."
Jack nodded, pushed open the car door and stepped out, slowly putting on the gloves, taking measured steps towards the men surrounded.
Blondie was so scared he nearly wet himself, hurriedly pleading, "Third Master, Third Master, we really didn’t know this lady was yours."
Tattooed Man chimed in, "Yeah, Third Master, we really didn’t know she was yours, and we didn’t even..."
A sudden bang—
Jack, clad in black gloves, punched Tattooed Man in the face, then kicked him to the ground with a swift motion.
As Tattooed Man tried to get up, a nearby bodyguard swiftly placed a foot on his face.
Jack clenched his fists, turned his gaze to Blondie, delivering another punch that knocked out one of Blondie’s teeth, then kicked him to the ground.
The bodyguard standing next to Blondie promptly stepped on his face.
Jack said coldly, "Harder."
The bodyguard pressed harder on Blondie’s face, making him cry out in pain.
Jack lifted his leg, stomped on Blondie’s mouth, and ground it with his shoe.
Under the pale lights, blood dripped from the sides of Blondie’s face, flowing down to his neck.
Yet, Blondie dared not scream further, though the pain shook his very soul, he dared not make a sound.
For the third man, Jack didn’t bother to make a move; he took off his gloves and threw them onto Blondie’s face, nodding at the bodyguards.
This was quickly followed by the sounds of punches and kicks, with not a single cry heard.
And this scene, Jack did not block from Renee’s view.
Sitting in the car, Renee saw it all, clear as day.
Renee had never seen Jack hit someone, whether beating Ethan Lund, or the guy with the tattooed arm at The Empyrean Bar. He always avoided letting her see.
But today, he didn’t evade her gaze; not only that, he purposely brought her to this desolate construction site, to witness the violent and bloody scene firsthand.
She guessed that Jack’s actions of "killing the chicken to scare the monkey" weren’t just a warning to Blondie and them, but to her as well.
Jack was telling her that his tolerance for her had reached its limit, that this tolerance was the freedom he allowed her.
From tomorrow onwards, Jack would no longer grant her freedom, nor allow her to casually go out with friends. From then on, her every move would be under Jack’s strict control.
Because from the start, Jack had mentioned assigning someone to follow her, saying it was for her protection. At that time, she refused.
Now, she had no reason to refuse further.
Jack symbolically punched a few times, leaving Blondie and his group to the bodyguards for handling.
He took out his phone to make a call: "Tell Wade Carrington his men laid hands on my woman. I expect an explanation tomorrow."
Wade Carrington was who Blondie referred to as "The Fifth Master," because Wade and Five sound similar, so people in their circle called him "The Fifth Master."
But he was completely different from the Fifth Master who sent antiques to Jack; that Fifth Master was a true big shot.
Having said that, Jack hung up the phone.
Just as he hung up, the sound of cars approached from the roadside.
Renee, sitting in the car, heard it, turning her head to see two cars arriving, led by a black Maybach, followed by a silver Bentley.
The black Maybach stopped next to a large G-class.
The car door opened, and Aiden Grant got out from the back seat first, saying to the person inside, "Miss Bell, please get out of the car."
A silver Bentley stopped behind the Maybach, and Frederick Yates got out first, followed closely by two men.
Rina Bell reluctantly got out of the car, and upon seeing Jack Yates, she burst into tears, her crying delicate and poignant.
"Third Brother." She cried as she ran to Jack Yates, her pale face looking up at him, "Third Brother, are you really going to make things difficult for me because of that woman?"
Jack Yates coldly tugged his lips: "Rina, this time you’ve touched Third Brother’s reverse scale."
Hearing this, Rina Bell’s tears stopped, her hand pointed angrily at the car where Renee Winslow was seated, nearly roaring, "Is she the reverse scale you’re talking about?"
Jack Yates: "Yes."
Rina Bell’s voice became louder: "What’s so good about her? What’s so good? Just because she’s young? Because she’s pretty? If it’s about young and pretty, any film school, dance academy, or drama school could produce a lot of girls younger and prettier than her. How did Third Brother come to like her?"
Jack Yates said nothing, waving a hand to make a gesture.
A bodyguard came up with a rope, trying to bind Rina Bell’s hands.
"Get away!"
Rina Bell shouted, her eyes red, staring at Jack Yates.
"Have you ever thought, Third Brother, by protecting her like this and offending everyone for her, what will happen to her in the future? You will eventually get married and separate from her. At that time, even if I don’t make it difficult for her, there will be plenty of people in The Quadrangle to give her a hard time. Not to mention those few gangsters, will they let Renee Winslow go?"
"And Aunt, Uncle, Grandpa Yates, they would never let you marry Renee Winslow! Even if you don’t marry Wren Hawthorne, it would be another heiress from a wealthy family, but definitely not Renee Winslow."
"I had her brought here today not to really harm her, just to scare her, so she would know when to retreat."
"If Third Brother harms me for Renee Winslow today, not to mention how angry my parents and grandma would be, Aunt, Uncle, Grandpa Yates, they would definitely see Renee Winslow as a scourge and make you break up with her immediately."
"By then, if Aunt threatens to take her own life, would Third Brother really watch his own mother die for the sake of a stranger?"
Rina Bell’s voice was not lowered, she even intentionally roared as she spoke, so Renee Winslow heard every word clearly inside the car.
Indeed, if Jack Yates punished Rina Bell for her today, it would definitely spark outrage within The Yates Family.
Jack Yates’s parents, grandfather, uncle, aunt, grandma, maternal aunt, cousins, and all those relatives, they couldn’t hate Jack Yates, they would only hate her.
If The Yateses really wanted to make things difficult for her, even if Jack Yates wanted to protect her, it would be hard for him to keep her entirely safe.
Thinking of this, Renee Winslow felt a pang of bitterness but was helpless, life is a series of compromises.
"Jack Yates." She pushed the door open and got out of the car, smoothing her windblown hair in the night breeze, smiling, "Come here for a moment, I want to talk to you."
Jack Yates walked to her, holding her cold little hand, his voice softened: "Didn’t I ask you to stay in the car?"
Renee Winslow wrapped her arm around his, tilting her head to gently rest on his shoulder, softly saying, "I’ve been sitting for too long, my legs are numb. I wanted to get out for a walk and have a chat with you."
Jack Yates patted her head: "Renee, as long as I live, I will protect you."
Renee Winslow’s nose tingled, her throat felt like it was stuck with a thorn, choking her painfully.
She looked up at Jack Yates, her bright, clear almond eyes more profound than the night.
"Jack Yates." She smiled, caressing his face, "Let it go, let today’s events go."
"Renee..."
Renee Winslow placed her index finger on his lips: "Don’t go against the whole world for me, it’s not good for you. I don’t want you to end up isolated from everyone. Besides, Miss Bell was right, she didn’t really hurt me. Look, aren’t I perfectly fine now?"
Jack Yates’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his large hand cupping her face, his eyes as dark as an abyss as he looked at her.
Renee Winslow smiled through her tears: "I used to always doubt your feelings for me, now I know, you truly like me. Precisely because of this, I hope you can be better, not fall from grace."
Jack Yates held her waist, pulling her tightly into his embrace, restraining himself as he kissed her ear, his voice hoarse as he whispered into her ear, "Renee, will you be willing to stay with me forever?"
Renee Winslow didn’t respond; she couldn’t make such a promise, and even if she did, it would be futile.
The Yates Family would never allow Jack Yates to be with her forever.
As Rina Bell said, Jack Yates would eventually marry someone else.
Jack Yates didn’t hear her reply and held her even tighter, his voice even hoarser and deeper, "If you’re willing, I’ll overcome all the difficulties, are you willing?"
