My Misfortune Crushed Instances-Chapter 87: In This Place, My Name Opens Doors
Bai Li dragged his luggage off the plane and saw Huo Yun waiting at the exit.
"Over here! Over here!"
He waved excitedly, only to realize he seemed a bit too eager, and quickly reined himself in.
"Have you been waiting long?" Bai Li casually asked.
"Not long, not long. Let’s head out first. Are we going straight to the Cangyun Association? I remember you mentioned there was someone to connect with?"
However, his incessant chatter like a crow still betrayed his excitement.
Bai Li said, "I’ll contact them, you just follow along."
Definitely reliable!
Although Huo Yun and He Chengli didn’t get along, they shared the same thought.
Bai Li phoned Song Yao and arranged with his secretary for the contact person, a leader from the Qing Garden Chapter of the Cangyun Association in West Wind Province. They soon met up in the lobby.
The man was quite ordinary, named Pu Tong, a typical male city-level leader in his thirties, around level 20, with a plain appearance and neither a bold nor reserved personality, as if he had a label on his face that said: Tool Man.
"Would you like to rest first?" Pu Tong asked politely with a smile.
Bai Li said, "No need, let’s handle the paperwork first, then rest."
He was from the Baili Association, and needed to work temporarily as an outsider for the Cangyun Association. He had to complete the procedures for it to count. Otherwise, it would be like working illegally, and completed tasks wouldn’t contribute to his advancement or allow him to exchange materials for contribution points.
Additionally, he would be staying here for two months, definitely needing to enter the Secret Realm and use the Cangyun Association’s equipment, which also required registration and application.
While Bai Li had traveled before, he had never been to the Northwest, and he found the cities here very different from the south. The buildings were generally shorter and more spacious, not compact, which he guessed was due to the sparser population.
"Leader Pu, the frequency of Realms Overlap occurring here is higher, does it have anything to do with the low population?"
"Of course, it does."
Pu Tong replied, "In your Donglin Province, things should be rather quiet most of the time, right?"
"Yes, there’s less fieldwork."
"We have a lot going on here, so we love having you guys come over to help."
Pu Tong’s remark was not without the intention of building rapport, "Qing Garden’s branch has two Prophets, twelve action teams, and more than a hundred Secret Realm agents, and even more in those remote provinces."
Bai Li asked, "If I handle the procedures in Qing Garden, can they be used in other provinces or cities?"
"Of course, they can. We’re busy, so we often support each other, which might be a bit different from what you’re used to."
Although he felt the person wasn’t very tactful in speech, Bai Li was still happy, as long as he could be active, oops, I mean work, across the Northwest area, everything would be fine.
Now that he was here, he had to at least be promoted to a senior agent before going back.
That was his wish at least.
Soon, the car arrived at a large compound, with several buildings belonging to the Cangyun Association.
After getting out of the car, Pu Tong said, "These two young brothers have to wait in the lobby for a while."
He didn’t know Huo Yun and He Chengli’s identities, but even if he did, they had nothing to do with the Cangyun Association and theoretically couldn’t go upstairs.
"Why don’t you find a place to stay first? I’ll come to find you later," Bai Li suggested.
Huo Yun immediately said, "I’ll have the Hea family arrange it."
Not to be outdone, He Chengli said, "I’ll check if our family has any properties here."
"Whatever suits you, just don’t double-book and waste resources."
Saying that, Bai Li signaled Pu Tong to proceed.
The somewhat clueless leader felt a little puzzled.
What Hea family? What properties? Wasn’t he just a junior agent on loan?
He held onto his doubts and sneaked a glance during the paperwork process, surprised to find the file’s level was quite high, containing only identity information and nothing specific, indicating it was authorized from above, meaning not to ask questions, just arrange.
Using his not-so-astute insight, Pu Tong came to a realization.
These three were from some prominent families.
In some sense, he wasn’t entirely wrong, maybe even two-thirds correct.
Given this unexpected special situation, the paperwork process went much faster than anticipated. An hour later, Bai Li received his temporary pass and internal network account for the Cangyun Association.
"The account is for accepting tasks. Predicted but unclaimed Realms will appear in that task column. If you think you can handle it, submit an application, and it will be forwarded to me, your nominal team leader."
Pu Tong chuckled, "Do you have any other helpers? Are those two lads also Extraordinaries?"
"Yes, just the three of us."
"Alright then, I’ll gauge and potentially adjust manpower based on the tasks you apply for."
Bai Li cleared his throat, "There’s no need to add more. We’ll handle tasks we can manage with just the three of us."
Pu Tong hesitated, thought about their unusual background, and decided to stay out of it, agreeing instead.
"Well then, be safe. Let me know if you need anything, okay?"
Bai Li thanked him and then left.
With the task assigned from above completed, Pu Tong felt relieved and headed to his office, encountering some gossiping team members.
"Leader, who was that just now?"
"A loan from the Baili Association."
"Looked quite young, must not be of a high level, or maybe registered early, and is actually high-level? Coming here in such a rush and not worried about mishaps?"
"No idea, seems like they’re from some influential family."
Pu Tong said, "You all better not pry too much. I couldn’t even access his file during the paperwork."
Someone scoffed, muttering, "I can’t stand those relying solely on their background, unlike those rising stars who almost cleared all unclaimed tasks in West Wind Province in just a few days."
"Yeah, that beauty is also from the Jiang family, but relies purely on her own strength."
"Shut up, shut up."
Pu Tong grumbled impatiently and then closed his office door.
...
Bai Li left the Qing Garden branch and contacted He Chengli. After clarifying the location, he took a cab over.
It was a members-only club, not open to the public. Upon entering, someone asked about reservations, a subtle way of asking if he was a member.
Bai Li had to call down He Chengli.
"Brother Rui, over here, over here."
He Chengli brought him inside, got an access card at the front desk, then led him through the back door of the lobby into a garden-like area, "This place belongs to the Hea family, the East Gate branch, contacted by Huo Yun."
"Oh." Bai Li had no particular reaction. He was already used to these family youngsters’ money power, as if they could always find people to arrange food and lodging anywhere they went.
"But for some reason, the Kong family sent a representative over."
He Chengli continued, "Said they were here to welcome us, not sure how they made contact."
At this moment, they had walked down a shaded path and arrived at a standalone courtyard.
A round, jovial person walked out of the door, enthusiastically extending a hand.
"Bai Li! Hello, I’m Kong Ji. Since you’re here, consider us friends. In this Northwest area, if you face any difficulties, just mention my name; it works."
