My Misfortune Crushed Instances-Chapter 158: Coffins Rising Amid the Chaos
The Bamboo Gang and the Blood Blade Alliance are both forces of considerable scale.
They each have their means of reconnaissance and have noticed something unusual, but ultimately, these forces cannot compare to a massive entity like the Western Kingdom, and so they haven't discovered the real threat lurking behind.
Even so, the leaders hesitated, sensing something was amiss.
However, their caution couldn't change the overall trend because this battle involves not only the secret confrontation between two major nations but also a gang of brainless bandits that accidentally got involved.
The rumor William released in the black market was somehow overheard by these reckless but highly unprofessional robbers.
Led by the great Max, they were completely unaware of the surrounding undercurrents and charged straight toward the Blood Blade Alliance's convoy with great fanfare.
The roar of shoulder-mounted rocket launchers was like the fireworks of an opening ceremony, making the previously quiet journey lively.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Get off the vehicle! Enemy attack!"
With a roar, the Blood Blade Alliance's team stopped, everyone picked up their weapons, and the vehicle-mounted machine guns opened fire. Before the extraordinary individuals could take action, the hot weapons started exchanging fire.
Lirus also left the vehicle, hiding behind the bulletproof car and firing bursts with the rifle he was issued.
To be honest, this battlefield seemed intense, but compared to charging into a pack of barbaric beasts or confronting world NPCs, the threats here were much smaller.
He distractedly observed the battlefield and noticed the target protected by the Blood Blade was at the very back, with that over 45-level senior instructor never leaving their side to prevent sneak attacks from enemies.
Lirus didn't rush to act, instead, he fired sporadic shots to hinder the enemy without taking any reckless actions, as his main responsibility was to confirm the target's position. Guan Gui was the main attacker.
However, despite waiting for a long time, he still didn't see the figure of that man, which he found strange.
With the chaos and the presence of a target drawing the enemy's attention, Guan Gui could easily launch a swift attack and leave. With Guan Gui's abilities, summoning a few resurrected beings would suffice.
As he continued to survey the battlefield, he noticed that Michael had disappeared at some point and seemed to have begun his action.
With his stealth and lethality, only two 35-level leaders might be too much for him to handle.
The commander of the Blood Blade Alliance rushed to the outer personnel, shouting, "Stop dawdling! Why are you crouching? Charge over and slaughter them, see? Kill two and you can be promoted! Go!"
Be it the Snake brothers, Pence, or the others, they were all here risking their lives, driven by the lure of formal identity. Charging out from their cover, they became the first wave of cannon fodder.
Lirus had no such needs, so he wasn't in a hurry, leisurely following from behind to make it look like he was involved.
The extraordinary individuals at the front were already using their abilities to deflect bullets as the group charged aggressively.
The Screeching Marauders also sent extraordinary individuals to respond. Just as the two sides were about to engage, Lirus suddenly sensed a dangerous aura. Instinctively, he altered his path, veering to the side. He heard several loud explosions, followed by a shockwave from the center of the battlefield, causing significant casualties on both sides.
As the dust raised by the shockwave settled, a few figures emerged, and their instant and overwhelming presence made gunfire halt on both sides.
Those of slightly higher status on the Blood Blade side recognized who had suddenly appeared.
"Bamboo Gang."
"Qin Ying is here, along with the mad dog Bai Yang."
The senior instructor took a few steps forward and shouted loudly, "Qin Ying! What are you up to?"
Among the group in the center of the battlefield, the leader pointed toward the Screeching Marauders' direction. Several individuals, Bai Yang included, charged forward, while he himself shouted, "Bruce, we're here to capture this gang of madmen. It has nothing to do with your Blood Blade."
Upon hearing this, Bruce, the senior instructor, breathed a sigh of relief and immediately ordered everyone to retreat.
With someone helping to deal with the unexpected troublemakers, it was best to let them handle it.
Though this skirmish wasn't high-level, the presence of figures like Qin Ying and Bruce, who were over level 40, outpaced the other participants, mostly in their twenties or thirties, with even smaller roles like Snake Eye and Snake Fang around level ten.
Yet, even so, reducing unnecessary casualties was always preferable.
However, just as Bruce retracted his formation, another change occurred.
A group suddenly appeared at the rear of the Screeching Marauders, storming into the battlefield, followed by a roar and that detestable fetid stench.
Zago's demon minions manifested, accompanied by members of the Underground Sect.
With their assistance, the assassins from the Bamboo Gang found themselves in trouble. They had come for a swift capture, expecting to come and go quickly, not anticipating an encounter with the Blood Blade force and certainly not Zago the Demon Witch's inexplicable appearance.
Bruce's eyes twinkled as he couldn't abandon his charge. Yet, he worried about the Bamboo Gang being routed and potentially leaving the Screeching Marauders and the Demon Witch's entourage to team up against him.
"Go assist them."
He had to issue the order, redeploying the retreating forces.
Thus, the battle escalated once more, turning into a two-on-two fight.
Lirus found himself even more perplexed, utterly curious about why Guan Gui had yet to reveal himself.
As the battle intensified, the Blood Blade and Bamboo Gang fought side by side. Just dealing with a small Screeching Marauders wasn't problematic, but resolving the Underground Sect's priests was genuinely challenging.
Especially with Zago the Demon Witch, who was merely in his twenties, but his epic-level demon minions alone could hold down many similar low-level enemies.
At this point, Bruce couldn't remain idle. Unwilling to linger too long, he called a few over to help guard and then joined the battle himself.
With this development, the scales of victory began to tilt dramatically as the Underground Sect and Screeching Marauders were no match for the combined forces of two major entities.
Lirus pondered his stance, concluding that he wasn't planning to assist. The longer the chaos continued, the more it benefited his mission, so he ceased following the charging crowd and slightly withdrew, lifting the severely injured Snake Fang.
"Thank you, Li."
Snake Fang was grateful, acknowledging the competence of this 25-level youth who went out of his way at a critical moment to save him—without which he surely would have perished on the battlefield.
Lirus simply sought an excuse to retreat to the position; rescuing was merely a cover.
"I'll bandage you, hold on."
He continued with his antics, delaying.
Yet, Snake Fang was nearly moved to tears, exclaiming, "You really are a good man!"
Lirus gave an awkward chuckle, picking up gauze and preparing to bandage and stop the bleeding, when he suddenly sensed an unnatural chill.
Without warning, several ominous pitch-black coffins emerged from the ground.
Lirus realized Guan Gui was waiting for Bruce to leave his target, recognizing this moment as undoubtedly better than before.
Seeing these ominous objects suddenly emerge, everyone within the Blood Blade's formation shivered.
All color drained from Snake Fang's face, turning pale like someone from the Polar Alliance.
"The Black-clothed Death God! Damn it, what's he doing here! Li, this isn't good, should we flee?"
