Chapter 345: 345. That’s why it’s ugly

"Stop bluffing and just die already!!" Asher shouted, sending a barrage of ice spears toward Genzai’s head with a flick of his hand. His hope was simple—if Genzai died, the fallen god Moriel controlling him might die too. A small sacrifice to ensure the safety of the entire world.

But Genzai wasn’t that careless.

He fished a small gadget from the pocket of his broken suit and pressed it. Instantly, a magnetic field shield deployed around him, the ice spears shattering harmlessly against the invisible barrier.

"Oh, wait a minute. Let me recharge," he said casually, completely unbothered by the relentless assault.

He turned and walked toward the stands, where his fans were screaming with love, praise, and blind loyalty.

"We love you, Lord Genzai!!"

A group of women in the front row blew kisses at him.

Genzai pointed at one of them—a young, strikingly attractive girl.

"You. Come here!"

"Me??"

The girl could hardly believe it. Lord Genzai himself was calling her to the stage. Her heart pounded wildly.

Could it be... he liked younger girls?

Asher simply stared, his frown deepening as he watched his opponent act as if the match didn’t even exist.

When the girl reached him, Genzai gently placed a hand on her forehead. She smiled brightly while the other women on the stairs looked on with envy.

That was... until his touch stopped being gentle.

The girl suddenly winced.

Pain exploded through her skull, a crushing headache surging through her mind. She began struggling against Genzai’s grip as her body started to wrinkle, aging rapidly with every passing second.

Her screams echoed throughout the arena.

But it didn’t last long.

Her body soon went limp, her movements ceasing completely as Genzai casually tossed her aside.

Her corpse was shriveled dry—little more than skin wrapped around bones.

Genzai’s suit began humming again, the light on his chest flaring back to life.

He gave Asher a lizard-like smile, flashing his teeth.

"And that, my friend, is how I recharge my suit."

"What’s going on?????" the announcer shrieked into her amplifier. "The noble, generous, and kind-hearted Genzai has just—he just killed a spectator like it was nothi—"

She never finished the sentence.

"You’re too noisy."

Genzai pointed a finger at her.

A thin red laser beam—so small it was almost invisible—shot forward and sliced her clean in half like butter.

Her body dropped in two separate pieces, one half falling to either side as blood and organs spilled across the floor.

The crowd erupted into chaos.

People screamed in genuine horror. Some began scrambling to their feet, desperately trying to run away from the monster standing in the arena.

Genzai simply shook his head, his smile never fading.

"I’m sorry, everyone... but I don’t plan on letting you leave! You’ll all be my batteries for achieving my goals!!"

The arena entrances—where people were rushing to escape—suddenly slammed into an invisible barrier.

Panic spread instantly. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Some tried climbing the upper stands, hoping to leap over the walls. But the barrier had expanded everywhere, forming a massive dome around the entire arena. No one could leave.

And no one could enter.

The citizens of Shangani were trapped.

Asher stood frozen, utterly horrified.

He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing.

Genzai had stooped so low as to use the life force of innocent civilians just to power his suit.

He slowly took a fighting stance.

His limbs trembled slightly, exhausted from using the demon sword. And looking at Genzai now, it was clear the man was finally taking the fight seriously.

With thousands of people around them serving as potential energy sources at any moment...

The odds were no longer in his favor.

But something still bothered him.

Why had Genzai said Tama was also playing in the palm of his hands?

"What did you do to her?" Asher demanded.

His voice grew colder.

"What did you do to Tama?!"

Genzai raised his hands innocently.

"Oh, gracious me. I wouldn’t dream of doing anything that could harm that little girl. She’s supposed to be my masterpiece, after all."

His smile widened.

"I simply made her... a little more ready. And less of a hassle to deal with later."

Asher’s teeth clenched.

"You think you can turn her into your masterpiece?? You think you can just possess Tama like you possessed Genzai??"

He scoffed.

"Keep dreaming!!"

With a roar, he created a trail of ice beneath his feet and shot forward, skating across the arena and leaving frozen tracks behind him.

He moved fast—blindingly fast.

But the moment his fist swung toward Genzai’s face, the suit’s helmet snapped shut, and his punch slammed into hardened metal.

The impact nearly cracked his knuckles.

Still, Asher didn’t hesitate.

He stored the demonic sword back into his item box.

Then he activated his trump card.

His brand-new S-rank skill.

’Activate Prime State Recovery.’

[Ding! Prime State Recovery Activated]

[Cost: 10,000 PP]

[Remaining PP: 72,000]

Warmth flooded through Asher’s body instantly.

The skill restored his body to its most stable and healthiest condition—no matter how damaged it was.

The skill was capable of restoring torn muscles, or fuse broken bones together.

It could replenish lost blood and even capable of returning organs, if ever damaged back to perfect condition.

It was far beyond any healing potion sold in the system store.

Even if his body were cut in half, as long as he had enough Pleasure Points—and the consciousness to activate the skill—his body would stitch itself back together like nothing had happened.

It was an ultimate trump card for any dangerous fights.

When the warmth faded, he felt completely refreshed.

Maybe even stronger than before.

The exhaustion from the demon sword draining his blood had vanished.

Now he stood in the ruined arena, bouncing lightly on his feet as the panicked screams of the trapped spectators echoed all around them.

"Alright, Moriel," Asher said coldly.

"Time for me to get really serious."

Without waiting for a response, he summoned a sword made of pure darkness in his left hand.

Another blade of radiant light formed in his right.

Gasps spread through the crowd.

Light and dark magic—two completely opposing forces—weren’t supposed to coexist, let alone be wielded simultaneously.

And yet he had summoned both without a single incantation.

Who was this boy, really??

"Let’s see how mythril handles this!!"

He lunged forward.

Genzai’s suit opened a compartment on its back, and a massive greatsword launched into his hand.

He blocked Asher’s dual strikes with a smug, villainous chuckle.

"Guess you’re just a stupid fallen god who doesn’t know a thing about science!" Asher rasped.

Then he slammed the tips of his two swords together.

Light and darkness collided.

The violent reaction instantly created a swirling singularity—a miniature black hole shimmering with chaotic colors.

Genzai’s supposedly indestructible suit began cracking under the crushing pressure.

Realization flashed through his eyes.

If this continued...

He would die.

Quickly muttering a spell, a summoning circle appeared behind Asher.

One of the fallen god’s chimeras burst out of it and struck Asher from behind, forcing him to stumble and break the connection between his swords.

The black hole collapsed instantly.

But the damage was done.

Genzai’s armor was now riddled with cracks.

Another few serious blows and it might shatter completely.

Now Asher stood between the beast and its master.

The spectators shrieked again at the sight of the monstrous chimera.

Asher, however, remained unfazed.

"Well... if it’s time to bring in summons," he said with a smirk, "be my guest."

"Rex."

A massive demon hound emerged from his shadow, towering at nearly twice the size of Genzai’s chimera.

Yet instead of looking worried, Genzai burst into laughter.

"Aww... you think I didn’t account for that beast of yours?"

He began circling Asher slowly.

"You know I kidnapped it once, right?"

His grin widened.

"I took samples of its blood... its cells..."

"And made my own version."

"Bigger. Better."

"And faster."

He snapped his fingers.

The summoning circle behind him shattered open as a colossal beast crawled out—just as he had bragged.

It was slightly larger than Rex.

Asher glanced back at it... then back at Genzai.

"It sure is big," he admitted.

Genzai laughed proudly.

"I know! One of my best creations!"

Asher shrugged.

"Yeah..."

Then he smirked.

"That’s why it’s so ugly...the word isn’t even strong enough to describe it. Hideous perhaps does a better job!"

He glanced over his shoulder at his own demon hound.

"Tell me you can take that ugly bastard down."

Rex grinned, his voice echoing directly inside Asher’s mind.

"You don’t even have to ask, master."

And so the battle continued.

Two masters.

Two monstrous summons.

Clashing in the center of a shattered arena.

All while the citizens of Shangani remained trapped inside the barrier—unable to escape.

Or do anything.

At least...

Most of them.

Because among the terrified crowd were people like Joyce, whose hands trembled with rage.

She couldn’t just stand there and watch anymore.

Every instinct in her body screamed at her to ignore the arena rules...

Jump down there...

And help kill the monster known as Genzai.

The father of her child. The man she once trusted and adored.
