Chapter 718: *Coward!*

Roman then asked him, just to be sure he understood correctly, "You have a way to save my men from the hold that Lilith may still have on them, and this method would also rid us of the traitors among us at the same time?"

Elias just nodded, but that was enough for Roman. He said to him with a satisfied smile, "Go ahead, I trust my men. I have only 2 or 3 doubts, but thanks to you, those doubts will disappear along with this threat looming over my people."

All of Roman’s henchmen approved, and none of those with corrupted souls seemed afraid. Elias then said, looking at their Angel, "Lena, please let your light heal them. Cover the entire arena with it."

Lena smiled at them, and Atlas then led her to the center of the arena and stepped back slightly from her before she spread her arms and a halo of white light enveloped her. This light gradually covered them all, and they all felt its effects.

For those who did not have corrupted souls, they felt their energy reserves, which, after all these battles, had not yet returned to normal, replenishing, and they felt a boost in all their stats.

But that wasn’t all; all the mental fatigue of the past few days had vanished, and they all felt invigorated.

On the other hand, for those with corrupted souls, the pain was so intense that most of them fell to their knees, and only two Drakonits perished, disintegrated by Lena’s light.

As for the others, once the pain subsided and their souls were cleansed of all the harmful effects inflicted by Lilith’s tortures, they too experienced the full benefits of Lena’s blessed light.

Roman had never seen or felt anything like it before, and he couldn’t help but ask Elias, "Who is this woman? I feel no reserve of energy within her body... How is that possible?"

Elias then told him, "Lena is only a human, with no reserve of energy, but as you can see, she is very special. She comes from a world far from ours, and in her world, humans like her, chosen by the spiritual energy itself, are called Angels."

"An angel..." Roman repeated, stunned.

Elias quickly explained to him, "The particles of light are drawn to her; wherever she goes, nature is reborn from its ashes, and people feel at peace and full of energy. The white light you see is a combination of the four basic elements: water, fire, air, and earth, united by the light particles. This light can be beneficial, as you’ve just experienced its effects, or it can have destructive power, which we have rarely seen."

Elias then added, noticing that Roman had seen two of the Drakonits with corrupted souls disintegrate, "Miguel is personally training her so she can master the full power of her abilities. As you’ve seen, Lena controls her light; there is no danger."

Roman was still a little shocked by this news, but this Angel was now trying to save all his men in one go.

He quickly composed himself, and when he finally saw all the men they had welcomed rise again and smile, he knew he had made the right choice in accepting them into their world.

As Lena’s light dissipated, the crowd remained silent, as if they didn’t know how to react.

Roman then stepped forward toward Lena, flanked by his loyal men, now all liberated from Lilith’s grip. As Roman bowed in gratitude for freeing his men, his companions followed suit, bowing deeply before her, and the entire crowd in the stands joined in a collective bow.

Lena was unexpectedly taken aback, a hint of embarrassment washing over her as she urged everyone to rise quickly. Atlas smiled warmly at her, gesturing towards the crowd that had bowed in unison. "My angel," he said, "look! Your light has captivated them all."

.........

As the corrupted souls were being healed by Lena’s light, Tarik and Lanis had just been joined by Isaac and Jordan, who were also protected by a force field created by Elias to remain undetectable.

Of course, undetectable to their enemies did not mean undetectable to each other, so they could see and communicate normally without anyone outside their force field hearing them.

Tarik and Lanis were already following the Knight of Darkness when Isaac and Jordan joined them, and just after a few minutes, the hybrid opened a secret passage in the basement of an abandoned building using black particles.

Tarik grumbled, feeling a bit helpless, "How was I supposed to find this secret passage alone... next time I’ll bring Kevin with me; at least with his system, we won’t waste any time."

Isaac then replied, with a bright smile, "I’ll act like I didn’t hear that, but don’t hesitate to make your request to Elias and Miguel. Just wait until I’m there; I really want to witness their reaction."

Tarik smiled too and said, "Coward!"

As they followed the Knight of Darkness into the secret passage, Lanis urged them, "Guys, please stay focused; Johan’s life may depend on us."

The atmosphere shifted, and seriousness washed over them. Tarik took the lead as they ventured down a long corridor.

Suddenly, they were met with distressing sounds—voices filled with pain, coughing, and labored breathing, as if many were teetering on the brink of death. It was clear that it wasn’t just Johan’s life on the line, but many others as well.

Tarik quickly relayed this information to Elias, inquiring whether they should split up or stay together. While those in the cells undoubtedly needed urgent help, Elias instructed him to remain united and eliminate the immediate threat first.

But for that, they needed to determine where the Knight of Darkness was heading and whether more enemies were present before making a move to save the prisoners.

Tarik clenched his fists in frustration, but he knew Elias was right, so he said to the others, "Let’s keep going and see where this bastard leads us!"
