Chapter 118: Strength Of A Duke

Corbin frowned at the mention of the name Zenko. With his talent in spirituality it’s only natural he would take a deep interest in it. This has led him to research deeply about the spiritual realm and the afterlife. He has even been allowed to visit the spirit realm once, so he was no rookie.

The story behind Asmodesus’ descent to hell despite his pure lineage depicted his sin clearly. As a zenko, he began as a guardian fox of a massive lush Forest but lost his way after witness a naked maiden bath and falling prey to his lust.

Asmodesus raped her then trapped her in that forest, having his way with her whenever and however he wanted. He didn’t stop there, he went on to kidnap every beautiful lady that entered his forest, killing their main companions and turning them into his sex slaves.

His overindulgence in his desire for women made a zenko transform into a kitsune but he somehow retained his zenko heritage. Asmodesus went on to commit a genocide on his race, slaughtering them all until only he was left. This loss was a major blow to both mortals and the heavens alike because angels and zenkos were good allies.

That was how Asmodesus attained the title of the Prince of lust.

Now because of that, the purest form of fire known to this universe is permanently in the grasp of a demon.

"Ninefold Samsara Firefox flames is the core skill that gives the sin of lust an edge over his siblings." Gilbert’s massive feather shell form descended behind Corbin while it spoke.

In response, Corbin shrugged casually with a bored expression written all over his face.

"Yet it is ranked third in the underworld inheritances, considered inferior to the sins of pride and wrath." Corbin chipped in.

Gilbert stared at him blankly from within its wing shell.

"Regardless it is feared even by the princes of wrath and pride. You will be wise to be cautious of him too."

Corbin didn’t respond. He shifted his attention to to the ongoing battle between Damain and Duke Haborym. The massive demonic hand descended with unstoppable force, its fingers curling as the searing white flames coiled around it like a living storm.

Boom!

The building beneath Duke Haborym crumbled instantly, crushed beneath the weight of the palm as the white flames devoured everything in their path. Steel bent, concrete shattered, and glass vaporized as the entire structure collapsed into nothingness, swallowed by the overwhelming force.

For a brief moment, there was silence. The disturbing kind everyone dreaded.

Corbin stood surprised by the sheer devastation and how easily Duke Haborym was overpowered. While Damain’s success could easily be attributed to his ninefold Samsara Firefox, it was stil worthy of praise.

"He lives..." Gilbert frowned.

Hearing his discontented guardian archangel, Corbin shot another look at the thick body of smoke covering the entire ground level of the battlefield. He couldn’t see a thing but he could still sense Haborym’s presence everywhere.

"Of course a duke won’t die that easily." Corbin mumbled.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A catastrophic explosion erupted from the point of impact as demonic force burst into the sky like a raging geyser, tearing through the air and surging upward until it kissed the heavens. The eruption did not stop there. It twisted and expanded before collapsing outward in all directions, crashing down like a massive tsunami of raw destructive energy.

Buildings were torn apart instantly. Streets were erased. Everything in its path was obliterated without resistance, causing Corbin’s eyes sharpened.

Without hesitation, his body shot forward like a beam of golden light, cutting through the chaos with terrifying speed as he darted toward a specific building in the distance. On the other hand, Damian, who had been retreating in another direction, caught sight of this and narrowed his eyes.

His gaze followed Corbin’s trajectory and only then did he see her.

Linda stood frozen atop a rooftop, her body stiff, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear as the incoming wave of demonic force surged toward her like the end of the world itself.

Corbin appeared before the building in an instant. Without pause, he swung his flaming sword forward. A torrent of golden fire erupted from the blade, pouring out endlessly like a divine river as it surged toward the incoming tsunami.

At the same moment...

Boom!

Damian arrived beside him with a thunderous impact, the air shattering around his landing. Without a word, he thrust his hands forward, unleashing a violent surge of crimson flames that roared toward the incoming wave of demonic force.

The two attacks collided with the tsunami causing the world trembled violently.

Golden and crimson clashed against the overwhelming tide, flames devouring and resisting as shockwaves tore through the air. The ground beneath them cracked, the sky above distorted, and the very space around them groaned under the pressure.

Yet despite their combined strength they could only slow it down.

"I would appreciate if you kindly used your white flames please." Corbin tried to be polite even in this situation.

In response, Damian shot him a glance from the corner of his eyes but said nothing. He didn’t want to admit that despite having a vast demonic force reserves, he couldn’t use his Ninefold Samsara Firefox skill recklessly. Each use made him feel light headed, right now the edges of his vision were blurred around.

He doesn’t need to be a genius to realize his ninefold Samsara Firefox skill demanded more than just demonic force. However, he knew he needed to do more than that his if they are going to counter this attack

Damian’s expression hardened as crimson flames before him vanished abruptly as he drew in a deep breath, his chest expanding before a furious roar tore from his throat.

"RAAAHHHH!"

Buzz!

Crimson and azure flames burst to life in both his hands, twisting violently as they coiled around his arms like raging serpents. The air warped under the pressure as the dual flames surged outward, far denser and more volatile than before.

Without hesitation, Damian stepped forward and drove both fists out at once.

"BREAK!!!!!"

Boom!

A violent torrent of dual-colored flames exploded forward, crimson and azure intertwining into a devastating stream that tore into the advancing tsunami of demonic force. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield as the already slowed wave was forced to falter even further.

Behind them, Gilbert hovered silently in his cocooned form, wings wrapped tightly around his massive frame. His presence was calm, unmoved, as though the chaos unfolding meant nothing to him.

His gaze lingered briefly on Damian. Then it shifted with suspicion flashing across his eyes.

"To think... the third prince of hell would attempt to save a priest," Gilbert’s voice echoed, deep and detached, as his attention settled on Linda in the distance.

Linda shivered at their worre, Corbin frowned and Damian did not turn or even acknowledge the angels presence.

"I protected a human," he replied coldly, his fists still extended as the flames roared forward.

Gilbert said nothing. He simply stared.

The silence that followed was heavier than the battle itself. Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly before he spoke again, his voice edged with irritation.

"When does your angel plan to lend a hand?"

Corbin let out a low chuckle, his gaze still locked on the advancing destruction.

"Gilbert’s duty is to protect me," he replied casually. "Not a demon... or someone affiliated with demons."

Without waiting for a response, Corbin turned his attention to Gilbert and asked

"Lend me your shield."

His silence was met with silence as Gilbert stared at him deeply before responding.

"AS YOU WISH!!!"

BOOOOM!

The clouds above were torn apart violently as another blazing meteor formed, engulfed in radiant golden flames. It descended from the heavens with unstoppable force, its brilliance illuminating the battlefield as it hurtled straight toward the tidal wave of demonic energy.

Archangel Weaponry: Divine Shield Aegis!

The collision was apocalyptic.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A cataclysmic eruption burst forth as the meteor slammed into the wave, golden fire and demonic force clashing in a violent explosion that stalled the advancing tide for a brief, precious moment.

From within the chaos, a radiant shield emerged.

It was forged of pure golden light, its surface smooth yet layered with intricate divine inscriptions that shimmered like living scripture. A faint halo circled its center, and its edges radiated a sharp, refined glow that cut through the surrounding darkness.

The shield shot through the storm and snapped firmly into Corbin’s arm. By then the wave was moving again, relentless and unstoppable as always.

Corbin shot forward, placing himself ahead of Damian without hesitation. Raising the shield before him, he poured his energy into it.

Buzz!

A massive projection of golden light erupted outward, expanding rapidly into a towering barrier of pure divine energy. It stretched wide and tall, forming an unyielding wall that stood between them and the oncoming devastation.

Then it hit.

BOOOOM!!!

The demonic wave crashed into the golden barrier with terrifying force, sending shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. The impact forced Corbin’s body to jerk violently backward as a mouthful of blood burst from his lips.

His grin twisted.

In mere seconds, cracks began spreading across the surface of the golden barrier, thin at first, then rapidly branching outward like fractures in glass.

Corbin’s expression turned livid.

"Too strong!"
