Chapter 22: Sister Nurse: Are you crazy??

The hospital was about a three minutes walk from the dormitories, a distance that was even closer than the police station.

At the door, there was an aunty selling overpriced fruits that were, supposedly, ’hospital verified’, whatever the hell that was supposed to mean. The hospital tactility encouraged her as they refused visitors coming in with fruits of unknown origin.

Thus, it was only natural that Xiao Shen would have a bitter taste in his mouth after spending some fifty yen to buy only three apples and some grapes.

"Tsk, what a rip-off!" Xiao Shen muttered under his breath as he carried the fruits packaged into a paper bag and went over to the receptionist nurse.

"Good evening! Please, I’m looking for Student Wang... Ah, I mean Student Chen’s ward." Xiao Shen greeted the woman with a smile and asked about Dong Wang, only to remember that Dong Wang’s real name was Chen Feng.

"Chen Xueba? Chen Li? Cheng Xiao, Chen Feng? Chen Yanghong? Chen De or Yue Chen?"

The pretty nurse aunty asked with a gentle smile as she read the list of admitted students.

"Chen Feng. Also, is Student Tian still here or has she been discharged?" Xiao Shen nodded his head. Then, he decided to ask about Tian Hua while he was at it. Since he was already here, it was best that he visited her too.

"Ah, please is that Tian Chang Er, Tian Bai, Tian Zhang, Tian—" The nurse began reading up the list of admitted students with a Tian in their names or surnames. Xiao Shen had the corners of his lips twitch upon seeing the hard cover notebook with five pages of students carrying the name or surname of Tian. He hurriedly interrupted her.

"Tian Hua, please!"

"Oh. Well she has already left. Our resident doctor told her to stay, but she claimed that she had to be discharged because she had tests tomorrow and needed to revise."

F*ck!

Xiao Shen widened his eyes slightly.

He had actually forgotten about his study session with Tian Hua!

"Thank you, elder sister." Xiao Shen nodded at her with a forced smile and left the counter.

Then he pursed his lips and returned to the table with a hollow chuckle. "You never told me the room..."

***

Dong Wang was playing on his phone when the door creaked open.

"Ah, Xiao Shen?"

"Mhm. It’s me." Xiao Shen nodded his head and set the fruits on the table. "Heard you were staying over at the hospital."

"Yeah, the doctors said I had a few bruises to the head and neck and back. I’m mostly fine, though. Just tired." Dong Wang yawned and took off his glasses to rub his eyes.

He was slightly moved. "Your’e a true brother, Xiao Shen!"

"Fair. If you really think so." Xiao Shen shrugged his shoulders.

It was only fair that Dong Wang would be tired after having his life energy sucked away by a Jiangshi.

He picked up Dong Wang’s glasses and put them on his face. "I’ll he borrowing these if you don’t mind."

"Hey! You visiting me all of a sudden, I knew you had an ulterior motive!" Dong Wang shook his fist at Xiao Shen. Then, he looked at the latter’s apparel and was stunned.

Wasn’t Xiao Shen wearing a shirt and pants earlier?

What was up with the expensive suit!

"I owe you one!" Xiao Shen grinned and nodded at him before leaving the fruits and paper bag on the chair. "I’ll be leaving now."

Then, he chuckled dryly and scratched the back of his head. "Hey, Dong Wang, lend me a few yen would you?"

"Bah! I take it back, you’re the worst of brothers, Xiao Shen!" Dong Wang grumbled as he handed a few yuan over to Xiao Shen.

"Right." Xiao Shen’s rolled his eyes as he put the money into his pocket. "I’ll see ya later, then!"

Surely he would pay Dong Wang back once he got the chance!

He was no longer the ordinary Xiao Shen who was a mediocre fellow living a mediocre life!

Though, speaking of which, had the stream not been a bit TOO quiet recently?

Xiao Shen thought to himself as he left the room and closed the door. The corridor outside was empty and all the other doors were closed.

"Hmm." Xiao Shen pursed his lips lightly and and quickly walked over to the end of the corridor. There was still on one.

Only then could he relax and look up at the sky, uh, the ceiling of the corridor. He forced a smile and tilted his head slightly.

"Uh... Viewers? Are you lot still there?"

Half of him feared that there would not be a reply...

[Anchor’s questioning face is super cute!]

[Still here.]

[We don’t really seem to have anywhere else to go now, do we?]

[Lurking~]

[Lurking, x2]

[Lurking, x3]

[Lurking, x4]

Relief washed over Xiao Shen as he flashed a genuine smile and gave a thumbs up to the ceiling. "Noted. Sorry to disturb your lurking!"

The moment he looked away, he came face to face with a bunch of young nurses who were standing a few metres away and giving him weird looks.

"..." The Sister Nurse in a gown quietly looked up at the ceiling.

There was nothing there.

"... " Xiao Shen.

F*ck!!!

There was a saying that, ’From a small detail, one can see the whole’!

In other words, first impressions matter and he just f*cked up his!

Before he knew it, news would start spreading around that he was crazy!

"Do you... need a checkup?" The the other Sister Nurse wearing a pink t-shirt tilted her head slightly.

"Did you hit your head?" Blue t-shirted Sister Nurse gave him a pitying gaze.

Xiao Shen gave a hollow laugh and spread out his hands. "If I were to say that I had been chatting with god-like existences, would you believe me?"

"....." All the three Sister Nurses had their gazes turn to a pitying one.

The fellow really IS crazy!
