Chapter 296: ANSWERED PRAYER

WONHEE knew that she was in a dangerous situation. ๐˜ง๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘’๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฃ๐‘›๐‘œ๐˜ท๐‘’๐“.๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐“‚

Hwang Frost, the strongest Hunter in the world, had just woken up from his long slumber. Then he pounced on her, and was now pinning her on the ground.

It was scary, yes.

But Wonhee was also somehow feeling confident.

Iโ€™m not saying Hwang Frost-ssi isnโ€™t intimidating. But, even so, I have a feeling that he wonโ€™t hurt me.

Right?

"You donโ€™t taste good?" Hwang Frost asked, tilting his head to one side. "Your Mana does, though."

Oh.

So, he really did absorb my Mana back then.

Wonhee observed Hwang Frost.

His glowing red eyes looked a bit frenzied, but not to the point that he looked like he was about to go on a Rampage.

And his Mana is also stable.

"Hunter Hwang Frost-ssi, Iโ€™ll give you as much Mana as you need," Wonhee said in a serious tone. "But please be my Hunter."

"Do you think youโ€™re the first Guide to ever ask me to be their Hunter?"

"Of course not. But I heard you turned them all down in the past."

"Right. And youโ€™re still asking me to be your Hunter?"

"Because you donโ€™t have a choice," Wonhee said bluntly. "Youโ€™ll die without a Guide, and Iโ€™m probably one of the few Guides left in this world."

"Few Guides..." Hwang Frost suddenly trailed off, and then he began looking around with a shocked look on his face. He had just noticed that they were in the middle of an abandoned city in an apocalyptic world. "How long was I stuck in that stupid ice? Two weeks? One month? But I feel fine, so I was just probably frozen there for at least seven days."

Right?

Hwang Frost was stuck in that block of ice for years, and it was no different from being in a coma.

And, yet, his motor skills were still fine.

Moreover, he didnโ€™t stinkโ€” even his breath still smelled minty.

It was like Hwang Frost was stuck in a perfectly mint condition.

Is it because of the ice?

"Herbivore, I hate repeating myself twice."

"Itโ€™s been more than six years since youโ€™ve been trapped in that block of ice, Hunter Hwang Frost-ssi," Wonhee said. She didnโ€™t want to admit this, but she was quite nervous. "This world is now on its second apocalypse."

Hwang Frostโ€™s eyes widened a bit. "Second apocalypse?"

"Yes..."

"You donโ€™t seem like youโ€™re lying."

"Because Iโ€™m not."

Hwang Frostโ€™s face suddenly darkened, and then he stood up and looked around. "My parents... my guild... my family..." He looked at Wonhee with burning red eyes. "You know me, so you definitely know what happened to them."

Oh.

Wonhee got up and debated whether to tell Hwang Frost the truth or not.

At first, she wanted to lie.

But then she remembered that the Hunter seemed to have the ability to know whether a person was lying or not.

Heโ€™ll only get angrier if I lied.

"The Winter Guild was absorbed by APA after you were arrested, Hunter Hwang Frost-ssi," Wonhee said carefully. "Then APA sent your guild members to dangerous missions, treating them as if they were disposable tools."

Hwang Frostโ€™s Mana started to spike, but she had to continue.

"When almost all the old guild members of the Winter Guild were dispatched, APA handed the Winter Guild to the Hunter who replaced you in the Big 4. Hunter Lee Seodam then brought new guild membersโ€” guild members that are loyal to Lee Seodam and APA."

"What about my parents? My cousins?" Hwang Frost asked desperately. "They wouldnโ€™t have handed the Winter Guild to APA without a fight."

"But they did."

"What?"

"APA threatened to execute you, so your family made a deal with Apa. In exchange for your life, they handed Winter Guild to APA without a fight."

Hwang Frost shut his eyes tight. "Where is my family now?

Wonhee hesitated, suddenly regretting the fact that she answered the Hunterโ€™s questions honestly. She belatedly realized that it wasnโ€™t a good idea to overwhelm Hwang Frost with bad newsโ€” especially since he was known for having a bad temper.

If he goes on a Rampage, Iโ€™m not sure if I can stop him...

"Herbivore, answer me."

Wonhee clenched her hands before answering. "Theyโ€™re gone."

Hwang Frost seemed to freeze from the spot, his face suddenly looking eerily calm.

Heโ€™s seething inside.

"Your family survived the first apocalypse."

To be honest, Wonhee knew all of this because of Song Moonho.

After all, Moonho-ssi never stopped caring for Hwang Frost-ssi and his family.

"Unfortunately, your entire family was murdered by the World Rankers who tried to invade Korea. It happened at the beginning of the Second Apocalypse," Wonhee said in a cracked voice. "Song Moonho-ssi gave them a proper burialโ€”"

"Names," Hwang Frost said in a very, very cold voice. "Give me the names of the bastards who murdered my family."

Ah.

Hwang Frostโ€™s Rampage has started.

Wonhee took a step backwards, ready to use the remaining Mana in her body to stop Hwang Frost from completely losing control.

However...

BAAANG!

That was the sound of a spatula hitting the back of Hwang Frostโ€™s head.

Of course, there was no way an ordinary spatula would have knocked down the strongest Hunter in the world.

Wonhee smiled when she recognized the "culprit." "Bitna-ya, youโ€™re back."

"Hey, Wonhee-ya," Bitna greeted her with a smile. "How have you been?"

Hmm?

Wonhee belatedly realized that Bitna wasnโ€™t alone, and that she recognized the man that her friend brought. "Is that you, Hunter Hamin-ssi?"

Hamin was the first Culinary Hunter in the world.

"Yes, itโ€™s me," Hamin said indifferentlyโ€” as stoic as ever. "Itโ€™s nice to see you again, Wonhee-ssi."

***

WONHEE decided to bring the unconscious Hwang Frost to Song Moonhoโ€™s house.

Bitna and Hamin helped her move without getting noticed or followed by the enemies.

Fortunately, Song Moonho was in the house and he welcomed their group warmly.

"Wonhee-ssi, Bitna-ssi, I know you two have a lot of things to talk about, so weโ€™ll leave you here for now," Song Moonho said after bringing Wonhee and Bitna to a fancy guest room. "Hamin-ssi and I will keep an eye on Hwang Yejun."

Wonhee smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Moonho-ssi."

"Bye," Bitna said, waving her hand. "Hamin Hyung, Iโ€™ll tell Wonhee our story. So, you explain to Song Moonho. Do it properly, okay?"

Hamin just nodded.

After that, Song Moonho and Hamin left the room.

"You call Hamin-ssi โ€™hyung?โ€™" Wonhee asked curiously. "It seems like the two of you are close friends."

"Yes, and thatโ€™s the reason why I looked for him as soon as I got out of the dungeon."

Right.

Bitna disappeared after Ong Yool and the System left for another dimension.

"Did you leave to look for Hamin-ssi?" Wonhee asked curiously. "Bitna-ya, is there a reason why you looked for him aside from a personal level?"

"Of courseโ€” I wouldnโ€™t chase a man for nothing," Bitna said, and then she smirked confidently. "Wonhee-ya, I found another way to increase the Mana of this world."

Right.

According to the System, there was a way to stop Cracks from targeting their world.

[The solution is simple, but the execution will be complicated. All you need to do is increase the number of people who have Mana. But Forced Awakening is dangerous, and they donโ€™t produce natural Manaโ€” and we need natural Mana to drive away the monsters. In order to increase the number of people with natural Mana, we need Guide Chu Wonhee.]

But Wonheeโ€™s Core was destroyed by Lee Seodam, so that became impossible.

Hence, the System took Ong Yool with him to develop a new solution.

But Bitna is saying that she found a new way to solve our problem?

"Tell me, Bitna-ya," Wonhee pleaded, sounding desperate because she was. "Please tell me how to increase the Mana of this world."

"Food," Bitna said, grinning. "The Culinary Hunters are the answer, Wonhee-ya."
