The situation afterward was not very favorable for the other families.

Seven out of nine assassination attempts were successful. Apart from Kain and Mera counter-killing their assassins, there was only one other representative, from the Don Family, who successfully counter-killed their assassin.

Upon reviewing the new report, it turned out that although the Don Family representative was very young and only an unremarkable low-class Magus, by chance, he was surrounded by four female mid-class Magus. He was truly a womanizer.

As for the other families, except for the Bethel Family which promoted someone to replace the position of the unfortunate representative who was killed, the other families had no reserves, forcing the heirs themselves to participate in the resource distribution game.

At this point, the list of representatives was finalized:

Kain - representing the Egretta Family.

Faith - representing the Sword Family.

Cyrus - representing the Bethel Family.

These were the only two names that caught Kain's attention.

Faith was his fated rival, and Cyrus was the mastermind behind the scenes who had caused massive damage to the families.

A week later, the announcement from the game master—General Cass—arrived.

The resource distribution game would begin in three days.

"Kain, you must do your best."

Mera imitated his previous gesture and massaged Kain's shoulders and neck. Although her technique was truly questionable, rubbing crookedly and not providing any comfort, Kain still pretended to enjoy it immensely.

"Trust me."

"I will definitely bring Myra back." Kain asserted.

No hesitation, no doubt.

Seeing this, Mera stopped massaging and gently hugged him from behind.

The day of the resource distribution game arrived.

Kain was taken to the central area of the inner city, the intermediate place located among all ten families.

The location he was taken to was an empty plot of land where only one manor, neither too big nor too small, stood.

"So that's where the game will be held?" Kain observed the manor and thought to himself.

He was dropped off in the empty area in front of the manor, where a few other people were already waiting.

They were only slightly surprised to see his silver hair; otherwise, there was nothing noteworthy.

Kain and the group continued to wait. Not long after, the representatives of the other families gradually arrived.

Among them, Kain also saw the mastermind—Cyrus.

He was a man in his thirties, somewhat ordinarily dressed, but Kain could discern his concealment through small gestures.

Cyrus also briefly glanced at Kain. His impression of Kain was that he was a relatively calm, almost cold, individual.

And the last person to arrive was Faith.

As soon as he appeared, a barrage of hostile glances was fixed upon him. It was very clear that Cyrus's plan had successfully made Faith the scapegoat.

But faced with all of this, Faith merely smiled back at the sharp looks, appearing completely unconcerned.

In this situation, all ten representatives entered the manor together.

Rules of the Resource Distribution Game.

"Each representative will have one room in the manor. In each turn, the room will produce 10 gold coins."

"Players can use the gold coins in their room to participate in a bid for authority."

"The bid for authority will take place at the end of each turn."

"To participate in the bid for authority, players can use the bidding table in their private room. The amount of gold coins used in the bidding is discretionary. The amount of gold coins each faction bids will be publicly disclosed."

"When bidding, two scenarios can occur."

"Scenario One: No winner is determined when the bid amount of two or more players is equal. In this case, the entire bid amount from all factions will be equally distributed into each faction's treasury."

"Scenario Two: The bidding winner is determined as the player who bids the highest amount. In this case, the entire bid amount from the nine losing players will be equally distributed among all ten players. Meanwhile, the successful bidding player will have the following authorities."

"To place the entire winning bid amount into their private treasury."

"To forfeit half of the winning bid amount to recover the remaining half."

"To forfeit the entire winning bid amount to attack another player's room. This attack will cause the gold coin production of that room to drop to 0 in the next turn. Additionally, the winner's own room will be immune to another player's attack in the following turn, if any."

"To forfeit the entire winning bid amount to recover all the gold coins in the treasury, however, the amount of gold coins recovered will be reduced by half."

"To forfeit the entire winning bid amount to steal half of the gold coins in another faction's treasury, bringing it into their own treasury."

"Any action taken by the successful bidding player will be kept secret."

"There will be 50 turns. The bidding period will be the last 5 minutes of each turn."

"The use of violence and the exchange of gold coins are strictly prohibited."

"After the 50th turn ends, the game will be summarized based on the amount of gold coins stored in each faction's treasury."

As soon as Kain and the other representatives entered the manor, the doors closed. A strange force field enveloped the entire place, and the voice of General Cass rang, announcing the rules of the resource distribution game.

Kain's expression grew serious. Sensing that all his magical power had vanished, he fell into contemplation.

Looking at the others, the situation was the same for everyone. Even Cyrus, a high-class Magus, lost all his power, reverting to the state of an ordinary person.

To suppress all magic systems below without distinction, only the power of a Grand-class Magus could achieve it. Reaching this level, the power of a Grand-class Magus is enough to distort both reality and the laws of the world.

Even turning Magus into ordinary people is among those capabilities.

After a fleeting thought, Kain looked up at the clock placed in the center of the manor's grand hall.

This clock had no numbers on it, only one hand.

Immediately after the rules were announced, the hand began to move. It seemed this would be the time-measuring device for each turn, and it had begun.

Suspended in front of each of them was a key, representing each player's room. Kain carefully examined it, seeing that it was just an ordinary key.

Everyone took their keys and remained silent. Some were already planning to leave to claim their rooms first.

Suddenly, Cyrus spoke in a gentle voice.

"Since we are all gathered here, why don't we discuss things a bit beforehand?"
