Chapter 77: Let’s Go Together, Leone

Leone opened the pouch and saw it filled to the brim with bones. Some were big, some were small. And their shapes had no uniformity.

He had no idea what kind of animal bones they were, but he decided to temporarily brush the question aside. He then took a handful of the bones and tossed it in front of him, eager to see what Sir Gundar would make of it.

But as the bones landed on the ground and bounced once, time seemed to come to a complete standstill.

Leone found himself staring at what seemed to be the Grimjaw Mountain. Upon closer look, it seemed to be a battle. The barracks were on fire, and several warriors of the Alborin and the Riverfang Tribe were lying on the ground, their bodies covered in blood.

Their mounts lay by their side dead, making Leone feel dread.

It was then that he realized what was happening. He hurried to the entrance of the cave in the mountain.

There, he saw Ulric’s dead body. Countless spears stuck out all over his body, as if he had been stabbed by many people at once.

"Noooo!" Leone shouted as he headed deeper into the cave.

All he saw were more dead bodies. All familiar faces. Soon, he heard the sound of fighting in the distance, which made him run as fast as he could.

When he arrived at the underground cavern, he saw Jason’s and Kael’s headless bodies on the ground, their heads lying a few meters away from them.

The young man felt nauseous at the gruesome sight, but a familiar scream made him look in the distance.

There, Yuni swung her sword, taking down one man at a time, desperately protecting the women and children from the Barbarians.

But one person was not enough to protect everyone. It was only a matter of time before she was overpowered by the invaders.

A sense of dread overcame Leone. He could already tell what would happen once they disarmed the young lady, who was fighting tooth and nail to protect her people.

And just as he dreaded, the enemy found an opportunity to get past her defenses.

One of the barbarians caught her by surprise. He landed a kick on the side of her body, sending her flying into the wall of the cavern.

"Nooooo! Yuni!" Leone shouted as he ran towards her direction.

Perhaps the pain made her understand that further resistance was futile. Mustering all her remaining strength, the young lady pulled the knife hanging on the side of her waist.

Without any hesitation, she stabbed her heart to commit suicide. Yuni didn’t want to be toyed with and humiliated by the invaders who had killed everyone precious to her.

As she lay on the ground, soon to die, her gaze landed on the young man kneeling beside her and crying his heart out.

A faint smile appeared on the young lady’s face as she mouthed the words, "Let’s go together, Leone."

A few seconds later, the life in her eyes vanished. The young lady who had teased, supported, and cared for him in her own way died just like that.

While this was happening, the Barbarians had started to claim their spoils of war. The screams of the women and children echoed inside the cave, dragged away one by one.

Many of the barbarians clicked their tongue as they walked past Yuni, who lay on the ground dead. They were disappointed about missing the chance to have fun with the beautiful lady who had chosen to take her own life.

Leone shouted in anger as he tried to pick up the knife Yuni had finally dropped in her hand, wanting to stab the invaders.

But his hands simply passed through it, unable to pick it up.

He then resorted to punching and kicking the bastards who were starting to kill the elderly, who had no means to fight back.

The sound of children crying and their mothers begging for the invaders to spare their children reached his ears.

Leone could see the twisted and cruel smiles of the barbarians as they pushed them to the ground, forcing them to obey them in exchange for sparing the lives of their children.

Feeling all the hate and anger rising in his body, Leone unleashed a roar that sounded like that of a lion.

A moment later, he found himself once again inside the cave with Ulric, Yuni, and Gundar. All three pairs of eyes looked at him in surprise.

"Great Chieftain, what happened?!" Jason immediately arrived and stood beside the young man, who had started puking.

Leone’s mask was lying on the side. He had taken it off before puking up everything he had eaten for lunch.

Ulric glanced at his Great Uncle, wanting to know what had happened just now. Half a minute earlier, Leone had tossed the bones to do the bone reading. Then, he suddenly stared in front of him as if he was in a daze.

Suddenly, he roared, taking them all by surprise.

Truth be told, even Gundar had no idea what had happened. He was only planning to do a bone reading by letting Leone personally throw the bones, so it would resonate more with his destiny.

One thing led to another, and before they knew it, Leone was already kneeling on the ground and puking.

Kael had also arrived after hearing Leone’s shout. He didn’t hesitate to stand between Gundar and Leone, ready to fight to protect their leader, even if it cost him his life.

Gundar could only sigh in his heart. He knew he would be blamed for what happened to the young man. Since he did play a part in it, he decided not to say anything and to simply pick up the bones scattered on the ground.

However, before his hands could touch one of them, all the bones ignited at the same time, forcing Gundar to pull back his hand in surprise.

The bones then crumbled into fine dust, making the old man frown. This was the first time something like this had happened during a bone reading, so he didn’t know how to react.

While this was happening, Yuni had already gone to Leone’s side and rubbed his back to help him calm down.

"Leone, what’s wrong?" Yuni asked with worry. "What happened?"

"Yu... ni," Leone reached out to hug her tightly, taking the young lady by surprise.

When he felt her warmth and understood that she was well and alive, Leone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

A moment later, he fell unconscious, making everyone panic as they tried to call out to the young man, who still had tears streaming down his face.
