Chapter 620 – Reunion - Part 2

A night passed, as such nights tended to.

Bai Xinxuan awoke nestled against the Primordial Emperor’s chest.

The secret art of Joyous Union had slightly improved the balance among Li Yuan’s Three Souls. A small gain, but a gain nonetheless.

He glanced down at the beauty in his arms, at the soft, pale shoulder glowing like peeled egg-white in the morning light, and pressed a kiss against it. Then he asked, “Did news of yesterday’s battle get out?”

Bai Xinxuan nodded. “I made the announcement. I said His Majesty merely purged those with treacherous hearts, and that the innocent had nothing to fear. But I also made it clear. There’s no more Five Spirits Institute. No more Arcane Supreme Sect. From now on, there’s only one power. Something entirely new.”

Li Yuan fell silent for a moment.

His gaze drifted to the window, where celestial mist curled lazily through the air, painting every distant shape like a brushstroke in a landscape scroll.

As Bai Xinxuan chatted beside him, he suddenly turned to her.

“Keep the name simple. Just call it the Immortal Alliance. If you all prefer something else, fine, go with that. It’s just a name, not some cosmic truth. But the leader of this new alliance must be me. You, the Sect Master of the Arcane Supreme Sect, Dean of the Faculty of Puppetry, and Hall Master of the Arcane Wood Hall will all serve as elders.

“Once the dust settles, send word to those hidden noble clans. Invite them to join the Immortal Alliance and help shape the new era. If they agree, let their patriarchs serve as elders. As for those already elders...just make them vice elders. If anyone refuses, tell me. I’ll handle it myself.”

“I understand,” Bai Xinxuan said sweetly.

She shifted her hips in his lap, testing the weight pressing her down. Over the past few years, it wasn’t just Li Yuan who had gained from their dual cultivation, she had grown stronger too.

In the past, her strength ranked at the bottom of the Five Spirits Institute. Now? She stood at the very top. Even the Arcane Supreme Sect didn’t scare her anymore.

Li Yuan said, “Go and bring my family over to the Faculty of Seduction.”

“Yes, my lord...” Bai Xinxuan murmured, but then, with a sudden twist, she broke free from his hold, wrapped her arms around him instead, and pouted coquettishly. “But I want to be your family too...”

She wore a playful smile and her voice was honeyed, but deep down, her heart was tight with anxiety.

Li Yuan didn’t hesitate. “Alright.”

“...” Bai Xinxuan froze.

“Pick a day. We’ll get married.” He smiled.

He was decisive, almost startlingly so.

Bai Xinxuan was prone to jealousy. He knew that. If she started to feel insecure because of a title, it could plant seeds of resentment, and that was a risk he didn’t want to take.

Back in his original world, he'd read more than a few cringe-worthy stories where the indecisive male lead always said things like, I’ll marry you in a few years, or Once I take care of this and that, we’ll be together.

And then the girl would wait, and wait...until her heart turned bitter. Then came betrayal, drama, and eventually, the girl died tragically in the male lead’s arms, whispering with her last breath, Why didn’t you marry me? I hate you...

And Li Yuan, reading those lines, had always wanted to slap that idiot of a protagonist and yell, If you’d just married her earlier, none of this would’ve happened!

So no, he wasn’t going to be that guy.

Gently, he stroked Bai Xinxuan’s hair and said softly, “Xinxuan, I favor you above all others. But don’t go flaunting it in front of them. They’re not as strong as you. Not as beautiful. They haven’t lived as long. I need you to treat them like family, like younger sisters. I don’t want a petty harem full of scheming and backstabbing, smiles on the surface and knives in the dark. That’s not the kind of household I want.”

Bai Xinxuan felt her heart melt. His words, firm, indulgent, and honest, were sweeter than any poem or promise. She nodded gently and replied, “I’ll treat them like my own little sisters. I promise.”

At that moment, the infamous vixen of the Faculty of Seduction felt like she was still in a dream.

She had been nervous, after all. From the start, their relationship had been mostly transactional, built on strategy and shared benefit, not affection.

Sure, the dual cultivation between them had brought them closer, but in essence, they had been using each other.

Still, she had never been content with something so shallow. She wanted a real bond with the Primordial Emperor. Something that couldn’t be replaced or discarded. She was afraid of falling behind, of being left out in the cold.

And yet...he had agreed. Just like that.

The joy was surreal, like stepping into a dream she hadn’t dared to believe in.

Li Yuan gently tousled her hair, gazing at her flawless face.

“So beautiful,” he murmured. Then added, half in jest, “Don’t let your sisters find out.”

Of course Bai Xinxuan knew what he meant. But what woman didn’t melt when a man played this game?

With a soft voice, she replied, “I’ll be a good big sister.”

With this, Li Yuan said nothing. But the look in his eyes was quiet, deep.

Three months later.

The Faculty of Seduction held a grand wedding feast.

The bride and groom? The Primordial Emperor and the Dean.

Among the guests at the wedding banquet were the former Sect Master of the Arcane Supreme Sect, heads of the Arcane Wood Hall and Faculty of Puppetry, and many disciples once affiliated with the now-defunct Arcane Supreme Sect and Five Spirits Institute.

To everyone present, the scene felt utterly surreal.

For thousands of years, the Eastern Sea’s power structure had remained unshaken. And now, overnight, everything had changed.

In ordinary times, even if someone like Li Yuan, a powerhouse among powerhouses, had arrived, the hall masters and deans wouldn’t have greeted him with open arms or set up ambushes. They would have evaded him, hidden themselves away, or devised more clever means of resistance.

But the end times had thrown everything into chaos. The aloof detachment that these Immortals once wore like a second skin, rooted in the confidence of their long lifespans and overwhelming power, had crumbled. The looming collapse of the world, and the ticking clock of dwindling life essence, had gripped even the mightiest cultivators by the throat. Many of them now fought worse than they had centuries ago.

When death came close, people started losing their grip.

In the end, when they faced Li Yuan, they completely lost their sense of proportion.

That, more than anything, was the real reason so many of them had met their end, impatience.

Beneath the joyful clamor of the wedding banquet sat a few of Li Yuan’s old acquaintances. There was Gu Xuejian and Yan Mu, now with the Arcane Wood Hall. Tie Sha, who had joined the Arcane Fire Hall. And Fang Jianlong of the Faculty of Martial Spirit.

Beyond those four, there were others with whom Li Yuan had crossed paths in passing, like some of the elders from the Holy Tree Temple, and even Xiang Qingyu, the haughty young lady who had once dug up discarded treasures by his side. She was a mother now.

Naturally, scattered among the crowd were also some of his former enemies, including those from the old White Lotus Cult.

But Li Yuan no longer feared anything, nor cared who tried to probe into his past. He had no need to hide.

When he saw familiar faces, he greeted each of them with a nod or a word.

Dressed in the full regalia of a groom, he strode among them with an ease that ignored propriety, laughing and chatting as he sat beside Gu Xuejian, Yan Mu, Tie Sha, and Fang Jianlong. Then he casually summoned the alliance’s soon-to-be elders and instructed them.

“Take good care of these people.”

Just like that, the status of the four old friends skyrocketed.

Xiang Qingyu, summoning all her courage, stepped forward and bowed. “Greetings, Your Majesty.”

Li Yuan smiled and turned to the elders again. “Her too, look after her.”

When he walked away, those left behind were caught in a swirl of awe and emotion. They’d heard stories, yes, but seeing it with their own eyes was something else entirely.

The four couldn’t help but recall their early days with Li Yuan.

Back then, they had stood above him in both status and strength. But looking back now...they couldn’t tell if Li Yuan had simply hidden his true strength, or if he had played them all for fools.

The past drifted away like a dream.

And now, up on the high platform, the once-unattainable Bai Xinxuan was no longer an untouchable figure, but Li Yuan’s consort, his alone.

The four raised their cups in a daze, toasting with mixed emotions, as if the whole world had turned inside out.

Meanwhile, Yan Mu’s family, upon realizing that he actually knew the Primordial Emperor personally, were beside themselves with excitement, egging him on to hurry up and offer a toast.

Yan Mu fidgeted awkwardly, clearly torn.

Li Yuan noticed and, without a second thought, pulled him over to sit beside him.

Yan Mu nearly collapsed from panic. How could he dare sit next to Li Yuan?

His current master was only a provisional elder of the Arcane Wood Hall. And in this new power structure, might not even qualify as a vice elder. But Li Yuan? He was the boss of his master’s master’s master.

Yet Li Yuan simply clapped him on the shoulder and called out loudly, “All of you, remember this man. If he speaks, I will listen.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

The banquet hall fell instantly silent.

Yan Mu wished he could vanish on the spot. He was a bundle of nerves, utterly unlike the bold youth he had once been.

Time, hardship, family, and life had worn away the sharp edges of his pride and wild spirit.

Maybe it was the wine talking, but Li Yuan suddenly pulled him into a hug and said warmly, “Brother Yan, whatever happens, you can come directly to me.”

As he spoke, he stretched out a hand behind him.

Bai Xinxuan, almost as if reading his thoughts, immediately placed a token in his palm.

It was a special kind of token, something like a VIP insignia within the Immortal Alliance.

Li Yuan carved Yan Mu into the token with his own hand and placed it into Yan Mu’s.

Yan Mu tried to decline, again and again. But the air behind Li Yuan suddenly turned icy cold, and he dared not resist any further.

Clutching the token, he gave a strained, bitter smile. “I’m not worthy...truly, I’m not worthy...”

Meanwhile, his family down below was practically bursting with joy. They’d gone completely wild.

That one token meant that from now on, they were nobility among nobility in the Eastern Sea.

Li Yuan looked at the bowed head of Yan Mu, patted him gently on the shoulder, then turned toward Bai Xinxuan.

With a half-smile, he looked back at Yan Mu and said, “Come on, call her Sister-in-law.”

Yan Mu’s voice trembled. “S-sister-in-law.”

Bai Xinxuan still wore the red bridal veil, but that didn’t matter. In fact, even if she were sealed inside a coffin, she’d still be aware of everything around her.

She didn’t know why Li Yuan valued this man so much, but still, with a playful lilt in her voice, she replied, “Your brother’s always busy. If you run into trouble, come find your sister-in-law. If I can help you, I will.”

Yan Mu bowed in gratitude again and again. Only when he returned to his seat did he realize he was drenched in cold sweat.

He looked up at the man on the stage, his eyes complicated.

Li Yuan...he remembered. He remembered the past, remembered Yan Mu as his nephew-in-law. And he hadn’t let power blind him or make him forget.

In his heart, Yan Mu thought, Aunt didn’t choose the wrong man. It’s just a shame she passed too soon.

His cultivation level wasn’t high, and he didn’t know the truth about Yan Yu. He still believed his aunt had died long ago.

Rubbing at his reddened eyes, Yan Mu raised his cup high toward the groom and drank deeply in silent respect.
