My Infinite Cultivation System-Chapter 89: Twist
The moment the words left Alex’s mouth, the soul burst into laughter.
It was not ordinary laughter. It was loud, sharp, and unrestrained, echoing through the chamber like the cry of a madman who had finally achieved his goal.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Kael Von Lindberg threw his head back, his translucent body trembling violently.
"For a million years," he roared, "I have waited for this moment!"
Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he did not move.
"A worthy vessel... a body capable of surviving my inheritance." The soul’s gaze burned with fanatic intensity as it stared at Alex. "You should feel honored. Very few beings in the universe can become the host of a Galactic Overlord."
The next moment, the soul moved.
SWISH.
Kael’s entire spiritual form shot forward like a streak of pale light and slammed directly into Alex’s chest.
Alex did not even have time to react.
The world inside his mind exploded.
A violent pressure surged through his consciousness as an alien will forced its way into his spiritual sea. The energy was ancient, immense, and filled with the authority of someone who had ruled entire star systems.
Kael’s voice echoed inside Alex’s head.
"Your body will become mine, disciple."
His laughter returned, manic and triumphant.
"For a million years I guarded this island. For a million years I waited for someone strong enough to carry my soul. And now you appear before me wearing a perfect body like a gift from the heavens."
His presence expanded deeper into Alex’s spiritual core.
"You should feel proud."
Then Kael reached the center of Alex’s consciousness.
And everything stopped.
The laughter cut off instantly.
Silence fell inside Alex’s mind.
A few seconds passed.
Then Kael spoke again.
This time his voice carried something completely different.
Confusion.
"...What is this?"
The soul shifted slightly, probing deeper.
Then he saw it.
Deep inside Alex’s spiritual sea floated something that did not belong to a normal human.
It was vast.
Endless.
A dark cosmic structure formed from swirling energy threads, rotating slowly like the core of a miniature universe. Countless luminous strands stretched outward from it, each one vibrating with terrifying power.
The moment Kael touched it with his soul, the reaction was immediate.
The strands tightened.
They moved like living chains.
And then they wrapped around him.
Kael froze.
A cold wave of dread surged through his consciousness.
"...No."
The strands constricted further.
His soul trembled violently as he tried to pull away, but the moment he attempted to retreat, the Infinity Strand tightened again.
It was not simply restraining him.
It was analyzing him.
Kael finally understood something was terribly wrong.
"This... this is impossible."
His voice turned hoarse.
"What kind of spiritual structure is this?"
Another strand wrapped around his soul.
The pressure increased.
Panic surged through him.
"No... no no no..."
The calm arrogance he had shown moments earlier vanished completely.
"This isn’t a normal soul sea!"
The strands began to glow.
A crushing gravitational force suddenly pulled on Kael’s spiritual body, dragging pieces of his soul apart like cosmic matter falling into a black hole.
Pain exploded through his consciousness.
"AH!"
Kael screamed.
He tried to resist. He gathered his remaining spiritual strength and pushed against the chains with the power of a Galactic Overlord.
But it was useless.
The strands tightened again.
Fragments of Kael’s soul began dissolving into glowing particles.
Real terror appeared in his voice.
"Stop!"
His tone changed instantly.
The arrogance disappeared.
"Please stop!"
His soul trembled violently as more fragments were stripped away.
"I was wrong!"
Another strand pierced directly through his core.
Kael screamed again.
"AHHH!"
"Please don’t kill me!"
His voice broke into desperate pleading.
"I will do anything! I swear it!"
The strands continued pulling his essence apart.
"I will become your slave!"
"I will serve you forever!"
"I will give you all my techniques!"
His voice became hysterical.
"Please! Please stop!"
Alex stood silently in the real world.
His body had not moved even once.
Inside his mind, the Strands continued its slow, inevitable process.
Kael’s screams grew weaker.
More fragments of his soul dissolved into glowing particles.
With every piece that disappeared, Alex felt something new flowing into his consciousness.
Memories.
Ancient memories.
They appeared in fragments at first.
A vast cosmic empire filled with floating cities and colossal space gates.
Endless star systems governed by noble houses.
A powerful organization known as the Imperial Shadow Division.
Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The memories continued.
A young cultivator kneeling before a towering figure wearing black armor.
"You have talent," the figure had said. "From today onward, you belong to the Shadow Division."
The scene shifted.
Years of brutal training.
Assassination techniques.
Stealth cultivation methods designed to erase one’s presence from reality itself.
The memories jumped forward again.
A mission.
A single target.
Baron Kael Von Lindberg.
The Imperial decree had been clear.
"Eliminate the traitor."
Alex’s gaze slowly moved toward the corpse sitting against the wall.
More memories flooded into his mind.
A pursuit across galaxies.
Seventeen galaxies.
Three nebula clusters.
Years of relentless hunting.
The assassin never stopped chasing.
He had tracked Kael across half the explored universe.
Until they finally reached this insignificant planet.
The final memory arrived.
Two figures floating above the planet’s atmosphere.
A terrifying battle shaking the void of space.
Kael launching gravitational attacks capable of tearing apart moons.
The assassin countering with silent spatial blades that cut through reality itself.
Both fighters gravely wounded.
Both refusing to retreat.
Then the final exchange.
Kael’s hand pierced through the assassin’s chest.
At the same moment, the assassin’s blade punched through Kael’s heart.
Both bodies crashed onto the island below.
Dead.
Alex exhaled slowly.
Inside his mind, Kael’s remaining soul fragments trembled in horror.
"You... you saw that?"
His voice had become faint.
"You know the truth now."
Another strand tightened.
More fragments broke apart.
Kael screamed weakly.
"No! Stop!"
But the Strands continued.
Alex finally spoke.
His voice inside the mind was calm.
"So you were the assassin."
Kael trembled.
"...Yes."
The last fragments of his soul flickered like a dying flame.
"The empire... they betrayed me too," he whispered weakly."
Another fragment dissolved.
"Please... spare me..."
The strands tightened one final time.
Then Kael’s soul collapsed completely.
His body turned into countless glowing particles that slowly merged into the Infinity Strand.
Silence returned.
Alex opened his eyes.
The room looked exactly the same.
The corpse still sat against the wall.
But Alex’s mind now contained something new.
A vast collection of knowledge.
Ancient assassination techniques.
Stealth cultivation methods.
And fragments of information about the Grand Mana Cosmic Empire.
Alex glanced once more at the preserved corpse.
"So the real Baron died a million years ago."
The man who had spoken to him was never Kael Von Lindberg.
He had been the assassin all along.
Alex was about to leave the place, but then he saw that another soul appeared there. This time, it was the baron.
"Young lad, thank you. I have been hiding for 1 million years. I truly want to take you as my disciple.", the soul said in a soft tone.
" Sorry, I don’t want to take any masters. If you want to take revenge for your murder, give me your inheritance and I’ll take revenge for you once I become powerful enough."
